I've now done five classes and I'm so excited about his new space in Walnut Hills, which will provide options for all sorts of events. His creativity and imagination is endless and his students benefit as a result. Like the name says, this is not your average paint-n-sip. The drinks are flowing and it's a full bar with beer, wine, and liquor, as well as n/a options. You get guidance from a theme and inspiration photos and images, but you ultimately decide what you're going to paint. Some people choose to recreate an existing piece but many go wild, like I do. The Pendleton Art Center space was brilliant and eclectic and full of color and inspiration. I have high hopes that the Walnut Hills space will be the same and I'll be one of the first ones there. James is a delight. He's supportive and encouraging but absolutely no-nonsense. He will give guidance when requested, or gentle nudges when things go awry (or you're taking too long lol). He's an excellent teacher, an outstanding entertainer, and you feel like you're best friends by the end of the class. Do yourself a favor. Plus, their fun gift shop and small library with lots of gardening reference books. Lots of the plants outside are labeled so you can see for yourself how well they grow in this area. Plus they have green roofs and so many ways to make it ecologically favorable as well as giving you ideas how you might do so yourself. It's wonderful to see this pretty landscaping not far from a fairly busy road. Do yourself a favor and visit them sometime. What a gem!

The setting is…read morevery intimate, as the living room of a 1 bedroom apartment has been converted into a musical venue, with the artists within touching distance of the concertgoers. The music is generally top-notch, though you can certainly run into a "new age" sound every once-in-a-while (and I supposed that's good if you're into that sort of thing). The hard part is finding out when there is a show. There's no website or mailing list, as far as I know, and the only way to learn of a show is to stop by the building and look for a flyer. Flyers for shows are usually out 3-4 weeks beforehand so you have time to plan. The only other downside is that it is somewhat pricey , at $20 a ticket (pay at the door), but they provide food and beverage. If you been looking for an intimate space that hosts underground jazz musicians from across the country, keep an eye out on Calhoun St. for a flyer and stop by The Loft Society. You won't be disappointed.
