Dee and her husband Walt gave me amazing advice on what snacks to get both girls to keep them engaged and out of trouble, what foods were good for them, what chew toys would benefit them and then tailored their entire training to fit the specific needs of both Stella and Wicket at the same time. They were able to educate us on what types of dogs we had, plus the energy levels and adult sizes of the dogs, among other things. I personally feel like they went well above and beyond my expectations for what a trainer would normally do (I thought trainers just taught the dogs to do what they are told and help fix behaviors) These guys don't stop at commands, they want to genuinely see you and your best friend thrive together and build a strong bond. Anytime we came to a session with questions about new or worsening behaviors like chewing on things, plowing over the kids, etc. Dee was ready with advice, commands, and sometimes even educational videos to help us fix things. Both Stella and Wicket passed the basic puppy class and we are working on enrolling them for the next step up. In addition to my own experience, a few months ago my oldest daughter got herself a puppy named Blaze (heeler & Australian shepherd mix) who is massively energetic and currently a couple of weeks into his training. In just a few short weeks he has already started to become a whole different dog from what we are used to. We had a massive bump in the road relating to Blaze, which brought his training temporarily to a screeching halt when he needed surgery. Dee was beyond accommodating and so kind to us while we went through almost losing Blaze and then having a two week long recovery for him when he finally came home to us. It doesn't matter how many dogs I end up getting, they will all go through training with Dee and I make sure to recommend her to all my family and friends when they have concerns about their pups.

My mother adopted a rescue dog, and with mother being older they've gone above and beyond at a very affordable price to make sure my mother was able to get the training she needed for her special furriend! We even saw immediate improvements from the initial orientation and direction they provide. What really made us feel like we made the right choice is their approach. When I first contacted Roy to discuss training for my dog, Finn, I was impressed with the knowledge…read morehe possessed, and the questions that he asked. I was immediately comfortable and confident that I had reached the right person . Step 1: He sent over a very detailed questionnaire, so he would know my dog before he met him. I did the 10 week at my home, which was most convenient for me. I would like to note that I travel and have a crazy schedule so we had to reschedule many times. I thank Roy for accommodating professional life. Step 2: our first in person visit Roy met Finn, my extremely rambunctious Australian shepherd/Shetland sheepdog, who loves to run out the front door and dash out into the desert, or bolt past me going down the stairs inside my house, almost sending me down the stairs . Little did I know training was as much for me, as it was for my dog. I learned so much about my dog and about me. Lots of things I thought were cute I have found are not so endearing I am still amazed. With every visit, I gained more insight and knowledge from Roy. Started out just leaving my house and working up and down my own Street. Step 3: moving from working in our neighborhood down to walking around at the park in the downtown area. Teaching Finn to sit at the corners before crossing, and not to chase after birds or other dogs. He no longer yanks on his leash. I am very grateful for the experience. I want to thank Roy from the bottom of my heart. Our lives have changed and are so much different, having a dog properly trained. Finn still has a long way to go, but I am willing to make the effort with the information Roy has given me to succeed. I plan on stopping in to his drop in classes in Kingman on Saturdays, because Finn's training will never be over, he is sly lol and he likes to get one up on me anytime he thinks I'm not paying attention. After all he is a smart dog! Roy travelled all the way from Kingman to Needles for our training, and I know he goes to Lake Havasu City and Bullhead and God knows where else If you are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced trainer, Roy is your guy . Thank you, Roy.

It is impossible followed by requests for additional things to end up back at impossible. I don't know why they bother. If this is how they conduct business, I would NEVER want my dog trained there. Seems more like a couple guys on Craigslist with a dog run than it seems like a legit trainer. Then their despirate marketing trash from the "New Year" hits my inbox and I give they another chance. Needless to say, more of the same. Beg these anonymous "dog trainers" to do what they are marketing themselves as doing. They are impossible. Waste your time on someone else. We've been with Bree since before she even opened The Altered Dog, and she has been nothing short…read moreof amazing with every single one of our dogs over the years. She started with our sweet Daisy (who has since passed from old age), and the gentleness and patience she showed her set the bar impossibly high for any groomer to follow. She's also worked with Romeo -- our grumpy old man -- and somehow manages to get him looking sharp without stressing him out. Chloe, who is even older, has always been treated with the same level of care and respect. And Bella, who we lost last year, adored her spa days with Bree. Those memories mean a lot to us. Even though our dogs are short‑haired, we always choose the full spa treatment because Bree makes them look, feel, and smell incredible every time. She understands each dog's personality, their limits, and what makes them comfortable. Now we've added Great Danes to the mix, and they had their very first nail trim with Bree this past weekend. She handled those giant baby feet like a pro -- calm, confident, and patient. They walked out happy, not stressed, which says everything. I highly recommend The Altered Dog. Bree is skilled, compassionate, and truly gifted with dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. She's the kind of groomer you follow wherever she goes because you trust her with your animals like family.
