Dr. Engler is absolutely outstanding. Our 7 month old has been having random rashes and hives but we could not figure out why. After getting bloodwork done, Dr. Engler very thoroughly explained the results and what routes we could take for his allergies. I've never had a doctor spend so much time with me, answering my 1,000 questions. Waiting a bit to be seen is well worth it in my opinion if the doctor is willing to talk you through everything. Very satisfied with our experience, especially after being so picky about who to see for our little man. read more

I am literally leaving their office right now after waiting over 30 minutes in an exam room to be seen for an appointment I made at 9AM. I would not have minded the wait as much if the staff acted like they cared at all. The front desk associate didn't even look me in my eyes as he dismissed my concerns about the wait time. Instead, he told me that the doctor would be with me after dealing with a different patient, who according to him had "a lot more" to deal with than either they anticipated or maybe more than my case. Either way, their attitude was dismissive and unconcerned when I explained that I had made arangements with my job for the 9AM appointment. When the staff could not give me even an estimation of when I would be seen, I decide to leave. So disappointing. read more

This clinic is the best of the best! Front personnel, doctors nurses! All of them are so nice! They treat you like if you were a family member! They are always so nice! And treatment wise they are the best too! Before this clinic, I went to another were they wanted to charge me at least twice of what I payed here, and had me in a lot of very strong medications! Hub and I hit here whenever we need help with raging allergies. With Dr. Engler's help, we have actually gotten better over time and have less issues. Yay! I very much like Dr. Engler's style as he is calm, never talks down to you, and explains everything. I also like that he is ready and willing to give you lots of samples to help you determine the medicine that works best for you. All the people on the staff are very nice and I never have a problem with insurance, bookings, or service once I'm in the clinic. When choosing an allergist, I chose the Allergy Clinic due to it's weekend hours as I'm never able to be anywhere before 7PM during the week. I came to the Allergy Clinic seeking relief from seasonal allergies. I didn't really know what to expect, other than I knew I was tired of taking daily medication for my allergies. On my first visit, I was tested for various allergens to determine to what I was allergic and the severity of the allergy. It turns out I'm severely allergic to pretty much every tree and grass in Houston. Big surprise. The PA explained my results, and described the different options for long-term treatment. I went ahead and chose to do rush immunotherapy. The day of rush was a bit scary, but the PA and staff had me well prepared. They even have a TV and DVD player setup to pass your time while the procedure is being done. After rush, I have been visiting the clinic (almost) weekly for allergy shots to bring me up to maintenance level. I'm almost there, and I can't be more happy with the results! I definitely recommend the clinic for their wonderful staff and weekend hours. read more

I'm giving The Allergy Clinic two stars because of the terrible experiences I've had with their receptionists and front desk people over the 2 years that I've been a patient. I've gone to both the Binz and medical center locations. The receptionists are rude and condescending when you ask them questions. I am NEVER going back to this doctor's office again based on the treatment I've received from them. I put up with their attitudes because I absolutely love the doctors and nurses who work there. My allergies were better after my first visit and I appreciated this relief after struggling with years of allergies and sinus infections. Today was the last straw. I referred my mother there, made an appointment for her and even arranged time out of my work schedule to take her to the office. We arrived to the office to find out it was CLOSED. I made the appointment earlier this week. I made sure to double-check the day and time because my mom lives relatively far from their office. She sat in Houston traffic only to arrive at a closed office. I am so fed up with the front desk's rude and careless attitude that I am finally switching to another doctor's office. I can't believe no one else has mentioned this on their Yelp page. Save yourself some time and grief. Go to another allergist with receptionists who care about their patients as much as the doctors do. read more

I saw Mike Flanagan, a physician assistant here at The Allergy Clinic and really liked him. I came in with a problem that is apparently as frustrating for allergy providers as it is for patients, but Mike was very nice, thorough and gave me some good suggestions. The staff here seems a little casual. Although I had contact with several personnel during my visit, Mike was the only one to introduce himself either by name or by title. read more

If you care about your wellness at all, do not go to this chain clinic. I had been going to The Allergy Clinic for a year without incident after having a rough time with seasonal allergies. Although the service was fine, something always seemed off. Even after getting my allergy shots, I would not feel the best. I even came in to ask if there was something else that I needed to be tested for in which they told me just to take Allegra. Also, I have almost never interacted with any of the doctors. Despite reservations, I continued to come in and receive allergy shots until this June. The clinic was supposed to order the next round but forgot. I was told that my next shots were delayed and so I had to wait until the serum arrived. I ended up having to schedule the appointment for November. In the mean time, they proceeded to charge my insurance for issuing me the shots even though I never got them. On top of this, they sent me a bill a few weeks ago for the unissued and delayed shots, I called to pay even though I had not been seen yet and it turned out that they sent my bill to collections. The front desk receptionist kept making excuses but really had no idea what she was talking about and overall did not care and now my credit is damaged all over a small bill and incompetent people. read more

If I could pick 10 stars I would. I originally found The Allergy Clinic based on a yelp review and visited the Binz location. (Houston Allergy & Asthma Clinic). I had my first appointment with Lisa one of the PAs. I came here to initially discuss what I thought was a late in life egg allergy. I tend to hop around from doctor to doctor because I rarely can find one that fits my schedule and my extremely picky expectations. As soon as I sat down with Lisa I knew that this was going to work. She was one of the most amazing people I have ever met in any doctors office. EVER. She seemed to agree with me and suggested that we go ahead and do a blood test. Since they confirmed my egg allergy, they have been amazing. Lisa suggested that I meet with Dr. Engler to see if I was perhaps a candidate for an egg desensitization. I won't get into that process too much here but definitely look into it. I went to have a few more blood tests done and schedule my appointment with Dr. Engler. It did take a bit longer to get in with him just because of his busy schedule. He sat down and told me to pull up a chair. He went line by line with me over all of the testing that he had done. He explained everything, and gave me plenty of time to ask any questions. He also went online with me to show me where I could find more information on food allergies, and went over the Epi Pens and the Auvi-Q. I understand that Dr. Engler is probably late to other appointments based on the amount of time he spends with you but trust me it is worth the wait since he never rushes you when you are there. Since my initial appointment I have done the RUSH therapy, which is totally scary sounding but is really not that bad. I have also seen them probably 40 times. I have never had any doctors office care as much as they have. Not only were they able to treat my seasonal allergies, my food allergies, but they were also fantastic with all of the fears that come with food allergies. I may have asked Lisa if I was going to develop an allergy to chicken since I had developed this egg allergy. She only laughed a little. They were willing to work with me, and try things that lesser offices would be afraid of. I think this has probably gone on long enough. My suggestions would be that if you are in desperate need of an appointment, try one of the other locations, or one of the other doctors or PA's. I have been to 3 out of the 4 locations and they are all great. Lisa and Dr. Engler are still my favorites though! Also try to go during the off times for your allergy shots, 8:30 on a Saturday gets really busy. read more

This may sound a bit dramatic but Dr. David Engler and The Allergy Clinic literally changed my life. I suffered from sinus infections from the age of about 18 until my mid-forties. I had two surgeries for a deviated septum and saw countless specialists in three different states. Nothing helped. I saw Dr. Engler when we moved to Houston for allergy testing (it's crazy but none of the previous doctors ever suggested allergy testing.) Since being a patient at the Allergy Clinic I've been much better!!! It's a really busy practice but they always manage to work me in. I've also seen Dr. Malick and Saraf on occasion and they are excellent as well. I've referred numerous friends and they all have great things to say as well. read more

Do not waste your time with these people. They treat their patients like cattle and charge a rediculous amount for pretending to be specialist. They refuse to work with you to pay on balances so you're not able to get a refill on prescriptions needed throughout this pandemic. I will be filing a complaint with the TX Attorney General office for their crooked business practices. I urge anyone that has had bad experiences with them to do the same. read more

UPDATE: I received prompt follow up from the clinic. Dr. Engler contacted me personally with a detailed email. He offered to fit me into the clinic without having to come in contact with Ray and also recommended several alternative providers in the area with reasons as to why he recommended them. I appreciated the follow up and decided to try once more, at their other office (1200 Binz). The care has been great, all of the staff that I have come in contact with since then have been professional, kind, and friendly. I've done rush and my follow up allergy shots here and would recommend the office to others. Wait time here has also not been an issue at all. --- Wait time is greater than 1 hour. I waited 40 minutes, requested an update and was told maybe another 10-15 minutes...that time passed too. After a total of 1 h sitting in the waiting area for an initial evaluation, I unfortunately had to leave for another commitment. A man named Ray walked in and out of the room as I spoke with the woman at the front desk. I did not raise my voice, I did not say anything rude or insulting. I was polite but had to say this was a long wait time. I explained that it would be useful to be warned about how much time to have set aside for these appointments as this is not typical in my experience. Knowing that this was not at the fault of the person I was speaking to, I ended the discussion about the wait time and simply wanted to get clarification about my next appointment and what medications I could take prior to allergy testing. Without hearing the full conversation, Ray walked into the area and yelled at me for how I was behaving. We went back and forth at this point as he was being very aggressive towards me. He proceeded to kick me out of the clinic in front of the patients in the waiting area. I stated that he was being very inappropriate. He claimed that he was the owner of the practice and there was no one else to talk to. I have never yelled at anyone in any business before, I have never lost my temper, being in a public argument is very atypical for me. I was speaking respectfully to the person at the desk. I did initially try to get a point across, but it was respectful and seemed fair given the circumstances. I truly believe I was being polite in a situation that was not ideal and I felt completely attacked by Ray. His actions were just plain mean and insulting. It is unprofessional to yell at a client in front of a waiting room with other people and to kick me out of the practice. I was not going to post a public review because I was so upset and just wanted to forget the entire situation. However I've been encouraged by several people to post this review in hopes that someone else above Ray sees this and can do something about it. I highly doubt that a person who behaves like Ray did could possibly be in the highest position at the clinic, despite his own claims that he was. It is absolutely not ok to disrespect a patient like this. read more

Dr Engler and his staff are AWESOME! When my allergies flare up I need help NOW not later. Never have I been put off. Faith ensures I can get in when I call and she is super sweet. ALL the nurses are friendly and professional. Going there is like visiting friends. Great people. Super knowledgeable. And what is really great are all the samples I have been given over the years. Very helpful in the pocket book area. Dr Engler and Lisa have worked tirelessly on helping me. I HIGHLY recommend. I am so glad that I stumbled upon this place. They are great. read more

For years now, I've been experiencing what I thought were allergic reactions to certain things, like soy and cow's milk. Recently, I've experienced some similar, milder reactions although I've mostly cut these things out of my diet. I decided to finally get officially tested for peace of mind and to make sure no other aggressors are to blame. Based on the reviews here, I chose Allergic Clinic for this. I will give credit where it's due - The nursing staff at Fannin is great. I had Nurse Gonzalez, I believe, and she was a sweetheart and very attentive during my skin test. The overseeing doctor, Dr Saraf, was also very nice, but we only spoke at the beginning of my appointment. The remainder of the time was spent with the physician assistant. Another perk is that parking is available in front of the building. The bad? Personally, I'm not too satisfied with their follow-up when it comes to results. My skin did not react to anything that has affected me in the past. A doctor showing confusion happens, I know. However, I wish some effort had been made as far as outlining potential options (such as gastrointestinal causes versus allergic reactions) rather than just giving me a couple lotion samples and sending me off. Another grievance I have with them is their reception. Every one who answers the phone is kind, but don't often seem to know what's going on. Since my appointment, I've had experiences ranging from awkward conversations where the reception doesn't know when to hang up the phone to unnecessary phone calls on a holiday that could have waited. Also, I've been trying to arrange auto-payment for a bill - something I was told could be set-up over the phone only to find out when I call that I have to set it up on their website...which has yet to do anything but let me pay directly. **UPDATE - 5/15/2015** I feel the need to update this review and bump it up a star in light of recent circumstances. I neglected to mention that although the Dr.'s "treatment" was providing me with lotion samples, they also instructed me to up my Vitamin D intake - since a low count can result in magnified symptoms. This in itself has definitely been helpful. Also, although I have had frustrations with their reception in the past, I will admit their response to reviews is impeccable. Following my posting, one of the owners reached out to better understand my side and find a way to help. He was very sincere about it and really showed that, overall, they do value their clients. I've been going to Dr Engler for almost two years now. He has really helped me with my dermatitis (hard to treat). Dr Engler, Esmie and Debbie are some of the nicest, most genuinely concerned and helpful medical professionals I have ever encountered. I drive all the way to the other side of town sometimes weekly with my toddler for shots because they are so great. I can send the doctor or Esmie and email and get a response almost immediately. I can't recommend this practice enough. In fact I sent the info this more to a friend this morning. read more

Do not go to this location as long as Ray works there. The heat wasn't working, and it was 50 degrees in the clinic. I told the medical assistant that I didn't want to do the testing (you have to keep your shirt off for 30 minutes) until it got warmer in the clinic. I have severe allergy symptoms and felt terrible because I didn't take an antihistamine for 5 days in preparation for the test. I paced around the exam room and stepped up and down on the chair to try to keep warm. It has a giant window to the outside, so I opened the exam room door and sit by it. I came out once to go the restroom and asked Melissa what the progress was with the heater. Someone else stuck her head in and said it was being worked on, and I asked if she was sure. 2.5 hours later, Debbie, who is fantastic, asked what I was doing. I said I was waiting. Ray came in and closed the door and said that I was being rude to the nurses and that I needed to change my attitude, that I was slamming things and being mean to the nurses. I told him that I wasn't mean to them, but that patient satisfaction is bound to be low if there is no heat and it is below freezing outside. I was grumpy because I wasn't feeling well, and I was moving around to stay warm. He said, "There's nothing I can do about it! It probably won't be fixed for hours." I have been going to this clinic for years, I have never been rude to the nurses. I am an ICU nurse, and I calm stressed out patients and family members all the time. I had just worked an 18 hour shift due to ice on the roads and no relief. I said you have got to be f-ing kidding me. He got defensive and told me to "Get out! You're done here." I tell him to grow some thicker skin and I ask to speak to his supervisor. He said, "That's me. This is my practice. Do you want me to call security?" He started to call and I leave. I came back after about 10 min and apologized to him for saying a curse word and I got the test done. He said that I don't know how hard he works "his nurses" and that he doesn't have another space heater for me. I never asked for one. I have a good relationship with Debbie, Nancy the doctors, and all the other employees I have interacted with. Ray needs to be in an instructional video on how not to interact with patients. read more

I'll come right to the point: Dr. Engler and his staff have made a dramatic improvement in my health, physically and emotionally. So, for those who are suffering from any of the effects of asthma, please know that help is available at The Allergy Clinic. I first went to the The Allergy Clinic in February, 2010, after having suffered from an unusually severe case of adult-onset asthma for more than a year. Under the previous physician's care at a local hospital, I seemed to be running in place, despite being on a variety of inhalers and asthma medications. I was becoming despondent. In desperation, I switched doctors, and began seeing Dr. Engler. During my initial visit to the clinic, I actually began to have hope that I could and would recapture my previous good health. Dr. Engler found that I was suffering from extremely high levels of lung inflammation, and immediately had a nurse give me injections of antibiotics and corticosteroids. He also changed my medications, and developed a strategy for controlling my asthma, and for determining what my triggers were. I experienced a significant improvement within a few hours. Just as importantly, I also felt empowered and in control of my own life again. Because my asthma was so severe, I began going to The Allergy Clinic every month, and whenever flare-ups occurred. In all my visits to the clinic, I was treated with great respect by his staff, including those at the front desk, all the doctors there, and the nurses and physician assistants. They were always friendly and patient, and over time, I came to think of everyone there as part of my recovery network. While my condition improved steadily over the first several months, Dr. Engler wasn't completely satisfied, and ordered a CT scan, which showed early signs of a bacterial lung disease. Fortunately, it was caught early, and was aggressively treated. A scan done later showed no signs of any disease or abnormality whatsoever, and revealed normal, healthy-looking lungs. Asthma is a chronic disease, and is notoriously non-linear. One can be well for weeks, only to suffer a sudden flare-up. However, over time, I learned to handle such setbacks calmly. I knew I was in good hands, and that I would soon be well again. I would like to single-out a few things that I came to appreciate from the doctors and nurses at The Allergy Clinic. The first is that they truly seem interested in my input. They type my comments on how I'm feeling, asking me a variety of questions to guide me along the way. The second is that I've never felt rushed. They are patient, thorough and very detailed. Finally, I learned from my conversations with Dr. Engler, who participates in asthma and allergy conferences, that the body of knowledge on the disease is still growing, and physicians need to stay current on treatments. As I mentioned, my case was particularly severe. I literally felt like I was in someone else's body. I had been in excellent health, and jogged and cycled regularly. After first getting asthma, my symptoms were almost constant and physically limiting, and I was in a funk. But after beginning treatment at The Allergy Clinic, and slowly regaining my previous good health, I also regained my zest for life. How does one put a value on that? I now visit The Allergic Clinic on an as-needed basis, and for check-ups. My disease generally varies from mostly controlled to completely controlled, and for the most part, I have been able to resume a normal life. I was on assignment in Houston when I saw Dr. Engler at The Allergy Clinic for the first time. Since then I've moved twice for my assignments once being oversees and another in the states. I had started my Allergy shots (rush treatment) while I was in Houston and Dr. Engler and his staff helped me continue my treatment while I'm away on my assignments for extended periods of time. They worked on getting my serum ready to take with me, as well as clear instructions for administering the shots, and were willing to work with Doctors while I'm on assignment to insure my shots were administered correctly as prescribed by Dr. Engler. I've visited this office many times and the front desk and nurse staff (Armenia, Debbie, and Nancy) are always very professional and caring. They are always very helpful and go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable. I've been very pleased with my allergy treatment, the service that they provide, and would highly recommend this practice. On different occasions I've been seen by various Doctors and PAs at this practice and they always spent plenty of time with me and make sure all of my questions have been answered. read more

This is one of best experiences, that I have ever had with a physician. When I entered the office, I was attended to promptly and was given minimal paperwork to fill out. Thereafter I was quickly seen by a doctor without delay. Dr. Engler was patient and explained everything to me in a way that I could easily understand. Unlike other practices where the doctor will spend 5-10 minutes with each patient, Dr. Engler spent 45 min with me to ensure that I received all the information I needed to control my symptoms. I have been coming to The Allergy Clinic for twenty five (25) years. This is the the greatest place to come when your allergies flair up. I live ninty (90) miles away and can get in to see them or get help over the phone faster than I can see a Doctor in my home town. Dr. Joseph saved my life in the early 80's when I was having such bad attacks that I litteraly broke ribs when coughing. If you need an allergest, come here. everyone of them are great. read more

Very courteous staff, a light office environment, Dr David Engler is one of the best physicians I have ever met. He also cares about his patients listens to them and spends time with them to explain the problem. I have had several health issues in the past couple of years, and asthma was one of them, which I have developed not long ago, dr Engler has helped me greatly, my asthma is under control and has been for the past year. This clinic is as good as it gets: A real person always answers the phone - even at 5pm on Friday. Everyone really cares and wants you to feel better. All the staff are professional, friendly and happy. Your treatment will be designed specifically for you and if one kind of treatment doesn't work out, they will find something else that does. If you have chronic allergies and infections, this clinic has the experience and knowledge to make you feel better fast. I went to two other allergy and asthma clinics in Houston before I came to The Allergy Clinic and I've now been a paitent here for 4 years. I really appreciate this place and the kindness of the staff. The nurses, doctors, and physician's assistants are all wonderful. They take their time with you, explain things carefully, remember your name, and are genuinely concerned for your well-being. If something doesn't work for me, they really work hard to find another option while never being condescending. What I also value, is that before prescribing things, they give you samples of the medication, so that you are able to try it out first without spending your hard earned money. My daughter has severe allergies, which started seasonal and got worse. Last year, we decided to seek professional treatment, since the OTC medicines were not working anymore. We picked Dr Engler from the list of doctors provided by our insurance. We looked at the reviews and decided to visit the clinic. From the first time we went there we were amazed of the superb service, here is why: 1. All the staff, Ray(reception and office manager), Naomi, the RN who took the history, Dr Engler, the PA, the nurses and the receptionists treated us with respect and care. 2. Dr Engler spent so much time with us, explaining the treatment,what to expect, and the outcome. He was not in a hurry at all. I never felt rushed. He spent about an hour with us. 3. The PA also spent with us lot of time explaining everything again with no rush 4. I never had a mistake in my bill. In a matter of fact, Ray checks the insurance and let me know exactly what I am expecting to pay. No mistakes for the year my daughter was there patient. 5. Anytime I call, I get immediate assistance. No recorded message! always answers to all the questions I have. 6. My daughter had to go through a "RUSH" treatment, where she has to spend the whole day at the clinic for that treatment. She was treated with lot of care from everyone there. It is without doubt, that my experience with them is outstanding. I cannot say enough or thank them enough for all what they have done for my daughter. I brought my son to The Allergy Clinic when he was just 7 months old. His father and I both suffer from allergies and I thought it possible that my son's worsening breathing troubles could be symptoms of his own developing allergies. It was a scary time, but Dr. Engler was reassuring that even a child as young as mine could suffer allergy symptoms and be successfully treated. He is soft-spoken in a way that makes you feel comfortable and take his time explaining how allergies effect overall health. We did not feel rushed in our appointment. My son has been on a successful treatment for a year now, keeping his allergy symptoms from developing into more serious issues. Because of the care we received, we continue to visit Dr. Engler and the staff at The Allergy Clinic for routine follow-up appointments. I have not had any problems with getting an appointment or insurance claims. read more

I have just received an appointment for my high school son on a Saturday. He has suffered from allergies since he was a toddler and we actually really liked his previous allergy doctor. The problem is it is impossible for me to get off work or take him out of school and get him to the doctor's office by 4 p.m. for weekly shots. Because allergy treatments often include regular shots, I don't understand why more allergy clinics and/or doctors don't offer at least one late night a week or a couple of Saturday morning office hours. Considering how hard it is to get appointments on Saturdays or in the evenings, if they are offered, seems like more of them would do it. So even though, we have not seen a doctor at The Allergy Clinic, I gave them a high rating, just because we could make a Saturday appointment. It helped make a life of balancing complicated and competing schedules, a little bit easier. I do hope the doctor visit will work out as well for us. My mom, my 5 year old daughter and I are all patients of Dr. Engler. I've been dealing with my allergies pretty aggressively (i.e. meds and allergy shots) for 28 years, the last 15 or so with The Allergy Clinic at both Binz and Fannin. Of the many allergists I've worked with Dr Engler is the most passionate and aggressive of the bunch and while you may have to wait to see him, he is thorough and you have his attention until all of your questions are answered. And his PA'a and nursing staff rock! All 3 of us have had similar experiences in improvement of our overall health and this week, on our second visit to try and get rid of a mystery cough my daughter developed in early January, PA Lisa Dargel diagnosed my daughter with reflux and after one day on the meds, the cough has lessened dramatically. I have been through the one-day build up process on my allergy vials twice and would recommend it highly. I love this team of people and recommend them all the time. read more
