I made my appointment and was looking forward to the day until I got a call from them on Valentine's evening (the day before my appointment) stating the credit card machines were down and to bring cash, but also that I would be charged an additional $25 for the toner. Now I am not cheap, but definitely conscious of overspending. Like I mentioned before I've never had my hair highlighted, so it is difficult for me to justify the regular price of it. I thought this Groupon would be a good way to test the waters. No one likes to be notified the night before their appointment of extra charges. It should be in the fine print of the Groupon or should've been mentioned when I initially made my appointment.

I went to the salon for a long overdue root touchup and highlight touch up. After consulting we…read moredecided to do balayage. The hairdresser Kayla told me that she had to glaze my hair two different ways, melt my roots as they call it and whatever else. The total was going to be $370 which I was more than happy to pay as long as I walked out of there with what we had discussed. Instead 4 hours later, I leave with a black route, a band of color right under the route that is green and then the rest a very light bleached out color with the ends green again. I called the salon owner and she invited me back to fix it. I had to leave work early the next day, drive 35 minutes, spend another two hours for a different hairdresser to fix it. The second hairdresser Rachel did a good job repairing the mosh posh of crap that the previous stylist did. However after 6 1/2 hours, two days, and $350, I am completely dissatisfied with my hair. It is nowhere near what I wanted it to be. It has about four different shades of blonde in it and as of last night it was completely damaged, frizzy and would not curl. The owners solution was to offer me my next service (of adding highlights to my hair in order to ATTEMPT to get it to what I originally requested) for free. Meanwhile I never want to step foot in that salon again. So I'm left with spending the money to look a certain way but needing to now walk around for two weeks dissatisfied and then go pay someone else to accomplish the original goal. To say that I am beyond disgusted is an understatement. The young lady that owns the salon needs to go back to get a second- degree in customer relations and go to cosmetology school so that at the very least she knows what questions and expectations to have of the hairdressers she hires.

Made an appointment with Laurie (I hope I am spelling that correctly) and thank goodness, she corrected. Laurie fixed her hair back to her natural brown color and framed her face with soft highlights. Trimmed and did a beautiful blowout. Laurie could not have been nicer; we sprung this on her. The appointment was made for highlights and the disaster happened the night before. Ashley knew EXACTLY how to help me recreate this look. She's always up on the newest styles and trends and knows how to make them work for me. Beyond that, she took the time to teach me how to use my straighenting iron to give my hair some curl and bounce (i know ... straightening iron for curl!?!? insanity!!) so that i wouldn't have to buy a new styling tool. she made it look super easy, and while i don't have it down yet, she really broke the technique down for me in a way that styling-challenged-me could understand.
