I recently stayed in Vaughan for one night, close to the Brampton border. I was looking for a place…read moreto buy bubble tea for lunch the following day and found out that there's a bubble tea place at Westwood Square. I ventured out to this mall. I know this mall as Westwood Mall. When I worked at the old location of my current employer, I'd often drive up Goreway Drive to head home, and dropped by this mall now and again. It has been a good decade since I was last in this mall and it has changed. It used to be anchored by a Walmart. It was gone, which saddened me. It was a decent store that served this neighbourhood well. These days, you have Shoppers Drug Mart and Fresh Co. anchoring this mall. I do like the latter. The produce is fresh and it's a clean store that always has everything that I need. Although it looks nicer inside, it's a weird assortment of stores. I recognized the Scotiabank and that was it. Most are local. You get everything from luggage to cell phone accessories. The food court is on the second floor. It was where my bubble tea place is, but I never got that far. I ultimately got my beverages from Westwood Convenience on the main floor. Several people have mentioned that this mall has a sketchy vibe to it. I'd have to agree. The woman in front of me at the convenience store seemed incredibly out of it. She was looking for wrappers for her smokes. I couldn't tell whether she was in the lineup to pay. Frankly, I didn't think she knew, either! I'd return for Fresh Co. You can shop at this supermarket without going into the mall itself, which is what I like. Other than that, it serves the local community. However, it's such a shame that the Walmart is gone and folks need to drive further to find another one. (257)

(This review was written on 2023-05-11 but couldn't be posted until Yelp approved "Union Market" on…read more2023-06-05!) Toronto's Union Station has expanded in the past 10 years. They now have zones called neighbourhoods. The newest neighbourhood is called Union Market, which opened 2023-05-09. This neighbourhood is made up of many stalls with many different vendors. Every stall is very modern. There are a few permanent vendors and 2 pop-ups on opening day. A few other vendors will open soon. There are a few lounging stalls with tables and chairs. There is even a sub-neighbourhood called Union Fresh Market! Union Market is not easy to find because it is tucked away when coming from the Union Station Subway Station. I had to ask some other vendors to point the way for me. There is "The PATH" that runs through the middle. The current stalls are south of The PATH. The stalls north of The PATH will open Sep 2023. It seems obvious to me I haven't explored Union Station since at least 2018 since I didn't know they extended The PATH into Union Station! The current vendors are: - The Alley - Patties Express - Chocollata Gourmet Brigadeiros - My Olive - Lena's Floral Design - Manotas Organics (not open yet) - Gemlet (pop-up) - Virtue Vintage (pop-up) I spoke to the staff/owners at each stall except for The Alley because they were constantly busy while I was there 16:15 to 19:30. I'm excited for Union Station. They made a modern Union Food Court many years ago, then they opened the Union Foodie Aisle in 2022, and now Union Market in.2023. The place is wheelchair accessible. There are washrooms nearby but not in Union Market. There is very little paid neighbourhood street parking, but there are paid parking lots. Review 2023-127

It's probably closer to two months since I first dropped by Georgian Mall. I was in the parking lot…read morefor the Barrie Ribfest -- the drive-thru edition. It was held in front of the old Sears store, which is currently Spirit Halloween. That's my first impression of this mall. Stores close, but this mall and the folks behind it find creative ways to lure shoppers and eaters to come here. While heading over to the ribfest, I noticed an L.L. Bean sign. As a fan of casual, comfy clothing, I knew that I had to return and check it out. The mall's layout is interesting. I parked by the entrance closest to L.L. Bean and Moxie's, which was the second floor. This mall has two floors, but the top floor is more like a third of space than what you get on the first floor. If someone forced you to choose a single floor to shop, you would want the first floor because you've got more variety and the food court is there. I would be torn if this restriction was there, for Coles and Showcase are on the second floor and I love them. The main anchor stores are Hudson's Bay, SportChek, and Homesense. The former is massive and decent. I checked out the food court because, hey, I like food and my feet automatically moved me here. You get your usual chains, such as A&W, Subway, and Teriyaki Experience. The ones that I didn't recognize were Good Karma (Indian fare that looked so good) and Wikki Hut (Asian-South American mix of food that looked yummy). There is a blocked-off area to dine, with two staff members checking for your proof of vaccination and ID at the entrance. I spent most of my time in L.L. Bean and Hot Topic. I enjoyed looking at cool merchandise in both and ultimately making a purchase in the latter. I ended up getting snacks at Mr Pretzels and Kernels Popcorn. They are away from the food court, but the aroma from the latter lured me over here. I love that they are practically next to each other. I am a fan of both places and would definitely return to this mall just for these two businesses. The mall is clean and nicely kept. The women's washroom was bright and in great shape, which also included a separate nursery section. I saw a dental clinic. I didn't see any other health services, so you're not coming here for a doctor's appointment. However, you can get your prescription at Shoppers Drug Mart. The only downside during this pandemic is that there aren't places to sit down to take a breather, other than the blocked-off food court. I wanted to eat my pretzel and pretzel dogs somewhere. I ended up sitting in front of the fireplace where you technically aren't supposed to sit down, but I did anyway. It's a decent mall that has practically everything you need and a lot more. There was lots of parking available. I like it here it and would come back to shop some more. (405)

I didn't realize until I got to the drug store that this closest one to my hotel was a part of a shopping mall. I don't visit malls all that often these days because they are a death trap as far as time and spending go. I am a shopper at heart and can spent hours at one. It was exactly what I did last weekend. From the outside, you can certainly tell which part was the original mall and which wing is relatively new. I looked at the new wing and it looked like it was detached from the mall. Nope, you can walk every part of it indoors without freezing outside in the wintertime. The store has a good selection of stores. It has many of my favourites, such as Winners, Kitchen Stuff Plus, Showcase, DAVIDs Tea, SoftMoc, Showcase, and Shoppers Drug Mart. There are plenty of places to sit down if you are too pooped to shop. The target shopper seems to be folks 60 years of age and higher, which could explain all the places for folks to sit down, chat with friends, and enjoy a beverage. Although I'm not in that demographic, it sounds pretty good to me! Signs are clearly displayed to help guide you around the mall. There is free wifi if you do need to connect online. There is a food court. I didn't eat there, but there are many options to choose from. And, yes, there's a Timmy's to get your double-double fix on. I had lunch at Sunset Grill on my final day in Hamilton. It was Family Day and this mall was closed. However, Sunset Grill has its own entrance at this mall, so I was happy to have lunch here. I used one of the women's washrooms at this mall last Saturday. It was clean and maintained frequently. It's a good mall if you want something smaller than Lime Ridge Mall, but has pretty much everything you need. I'd return to shop here again. (76)
