if I could give a negative review, i could not go low enough. These people are not honest in their business dealings or their customer service. When you call them out on their "service" they call you rude and hang up the phone. The cost they charge is more than it should be especially for the service you receive. They claim to have integrity with their clients information, but it is a game so they do not have to talk with you. I can only guess this is a family business, because if these were actual employees they would have been fired long ago. Previous alarm company decided to get out of the business. The Alarm Group was transferred as service provider. Received no notice of transfer, no notice that they would be providing services, no information whatsoever. No active contract (as was a grandfathered couple years free) and would not release IMEI of alarm without a minimum of thirty days notice so I could get an alarm company of choice. read more

The monitoring service people tonight (March 12, 2025) were not very helpful until I got irritated, then they FINALLY contacted a technician who called me back after more than 1 hour. He, Micky, was VERY HELPFUL and quickly resolved the problem over the phone. I hope The Alarm Group recognizes his excellent customer service skills and rewards him accordingly. The monitoring service provided, in my opinion, an unacceptable level of customer service. They should have volunteered to connect me with a technician immediately instead of putting me off until I got irritated with them. The worker kept saying our Login info was wrong. After waisted time (with we paid for), my husband looked over his shoulder to see him backspace before hitting enter every time. Got them to install an alarm system at the end of 2014. Since day one it hasn't worked properly. Fast forward to August 2022 and they have to nerve and call me to tell me that the equipment needs to be upgraded and that I would need to pay for it. Yeah no thanks. I've been paying them 45 bucks a month for this whole time and they can't even get an alarm system to work. Avoid these jokers at all cost. I purchased a home which came with a security system. I have not been impressed with the system, so I wanted to get it removed. my account was sold to The Alarm Group without my knowledge. They claim they cannot remove the wired alarm system. They install them, but refuse to remove the system. How does it make sense that you can install them but not remove them? Especially when I am unhappy with the service and want to find another option? They have been unhelpful and I do not recommend them. If they cannot provide adequate removal services, or just refuse to do removal at all, they should think twice before installing them. read more

Complete joke for customer service. The initial tech was great, but I never received a call back to schedule the 2nd step for my system. I called and made an appointment for the 2nd step and the incompetent scheduler Marilyn put it at 9am and I made it for 1pm. I am a phyisican and I put it on my office schedule at the same time I was on the phone with them, so I know that 1 pm was the correct time. Tech said they came and rang doorbell and called and left message, but my phone had no messages, no missed calls. Then they would not come out that day and would not let me schedule the completion the next day, and they knew this was a house closing and had to be done in that time frame. I even called and offered the Tech extra money to come out that day and never received a call back. One of the worse companies I have ever had to deal with. I have a book in my office that has companies we recommend on one section and companies we do not recommned on the other section. We see about 100 people a week and they will easily be able to see that this company is a joke - I hope they go out of business soon. read more

When you sign the contract with them, read the fine print. They made me pay for a whole year after I canceled my service and moved to another state. I was never informed I owed them money and when I canceled my account, they never told me I needed to pay them for a year of service. Would not recommend. read more

One star because Yelp doesn't allow 0. I moved and cancelled my security service. They charged me for the coming year the same day that I cancelled. Refused to tell me if I would get a refund, and did nothing to resolve the situation. I disputed the charge with my bank, who decided in my favor. After giving them written notice, I am still waiting on my reimbursement/credit for 10 months of service while we were not even residents! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I used their service at my last home, and moved to a new house about a year after signing up. I called to cancel, since I was moving, and verified the service was cancelled over the phone. I also emailed and asked for verification the alarm was cancelled. Thought everything was good, until I received a notice from a collection agency lawyer that I owed them over $800 on the service I cancelled last year. I called today to resolve, figured they would say my mistake, spoke to someone named Marilyn who had a horrible attitude the second she picked up the phone, and blamed in on me. Said I am responsible for all fees after I left the home. I don't normally write reviews, but feel in this case others need to be warned & protected from this company. Also forgot to mention the issues with installation, they had no idea what they were doing. Ended up cutting a hole in my drywall to look for an old system, which wasn't there. If I could leave zero stars I would! I called the number on a the security panel of our home and explained to the rep what I needed. She stated she would pass my info along and have a representative call me. I received a call back the next day. After explaining to David, the representative, that I was requesting a quote for the system to have the broken panel replaced he discussed monitoring with me. I explained to him again that I was not going to be living in the home and likely would not have it monitored. When he came to the house the next week to look at the system and give me a quote he again discussed monitoring and I again explained my tenants would need to sign a contact if they so choose. I requested a quote for the panel, I understood that it would be more to replace the panel with no contract and I was okay with that, I just wanted to know what the price would be. David wrote me 2 quotes, one for monitored and one for un-monitored and I advised him I would speak with my soon to be tenants. Really-- with all we had discussed the only difference in price was that I would have to pay the service fee if we choose not to have it monitored. After speaking with my tenants they did not want to sign a 3 year contract so I agreed to pay the service fee that otherwise would have been waived, along with the price of the panel I was quoted. My new tenants were very excited to learn that the home had a security system. When I called David back, who told me multiple times he'd been with the company 16 years, he told me he could no longer honor the prices he gave to me. He first told me I misunderstood- when I reminded him he had written down the prices he then told me that he was mistaken. Mistaken! Really? After 16 years? I told David what I wanted before he arrived at my house so he could come prepared to give me an accurate quote. Additionally, after 16 years, you expect me to believe that the wrong prices you gave me was an honest mistake. Doubtful. I am so happy that my tenants didn't choose to monitor with this company after reading the rest of the reviews. Do better, this whole encounter seems shady and you have poor business practices. Hands down, the worst customer service I have ever experienced with any business, ever. In order to make any changes or get any service done on your system, they make you talk to very specific people who keep very specific hours. They make you jump through hoops if you want to cancel your service, won't return your phone calls when you try to call them, and then charge you a ridiculous amount for not canceling at specific times, even though you've called them several times trying to cancel said service and each time you call they say you need to call back and talk to someone specific who is only there at certain times that change on a whim. Also, there systems are faulty and will stop working at odd times. I can't tell you how many times our smoke alarms glitches and just started going off. Good luck getting them to send someone out, too. And if they do, be prepared to pay a heavy service fee to have someone tell you they don't know what the problem is. Steer clear of this company. You'd be better off paying more for better service. read more

We were loyal customers since 2010 when alarm system started having issues. They sent someone out who totally misrepresented a service agreement. They did not provide timely fixes to solving our alarm issues. We tried for THREE months to get sensor fixed / checked and remote working. They supposedly fired the sales person who dealt with us initially. They sent out people two more times and never fully resolved issues. Even now we cannot get a straight answer from them when we try to talk with them. Save yourself some trouble and look elsewhere. read more

We have been an HESI/The Alarm Group customer for over 13 years in two houses. We are moving out of state and out of their service area. They have presented us a $301.21 charge for the remaining 10 months of a current monitoring service. The service rep offered to reduce the fee by 50% but as to a waiver given that we have been with them for 13 years - no dice. The service rep would not allow us to talk to, or give us the number of the owners. He only said he "would pass our comments along" Very frustrating and not the kind of service I would expect them to give to a loyal customer who has given them over $6,000 worth of business over the years. read more

I was not impressed with their customer service. When you cancel, they "forget" and you get another bill. It's hard to reach anybody. When you cancel you get "Maurice" who won't return calls or do what he says he's going to do. Their contracts are not very clear on purpose and they basically hook you into a long-term contract without giving you any details. Upon cancellation, I told them that they need to update their contracts to be more clear and they basically shrug it off. Be sure to read the fine print. Horrible experience and over-priced. They run their business unethically! I would stay away from these folks. read more

We were loyal customers for 3 years. Then the alarm started malfunctioning. When I called, they blew me off the first three times. Finally they said I needed to come buy a battery for $35. I told them the code was about communication and the battery was fine, they insisted. So we did. I called the day after the new battery to tell them it was beeping again - they said it takes 24 hours, The next day they said it takes 48 hours for the system to reset itself. After almost a month of calling and being kept up all night by the beeping before disconnecting the system, we canceled and went with a different service. The Alarm Group promised to refund the money for the battery but instead they drafted me account twice after I said I wanted to cancel. First of all, when you say you are canceling they tell you that you have to talk to Maurice. Then he won't call you or answer your calls, you have to catch him at the desk. I have called these people all week trying to get my money back and I get the run-around and passed around. Today I asked for a manager. I got Julie, who said she can't help me but would have someone call me. Yeah right. Customer Service here sucks and these people seem shady! read more
