We haven't even lived here a year and we've had to replace a leaking dishwasher, two leaking toilet and dryer that didn't dry clothes throughly. But the worst of it all on a day like today where the temperature is -4 the thermostat isn't working properly, which is something we brought up to management last winter and they told us to put plastic on our windows...but this place is labeled as "luxury". Leasing office tried to claim that nowhere does the complex claim to be luxury when indeed it does. Also they went out their way to "update" the dog park but meanwhile the kids park is run down and out of date. But they have the nerve to send passive aggressive emails urging kids to not play in front of their apartments. Also, I don't get why the trash shoot is always broken, or why there arent speed limit indicators, or crosswalks or complete sidewalks. If their main concern is safety why not provide these safety measures for the residents. Packages are miss delivered/ stolen daily and the apartment complex does nothing about it, like adding package lockers or better signage. Or cameras at every doorway. The management is the worst you can ask for…read more On the day I moved in, the wood floor had been scratched, carpet in the bedroom was very dirty. After reaching out manager Dave, I had been told that management could do nothing about the carpet with stains and the scratches on wood floor. Then I reported to the Boston City Hall, they did the investigation in my apartment and then sent an alert letter to the management. Two weeks later, Dave hired the people to wash the carpet in my bedroom. Why? Because management got the ALERT from Boston City Hall. So if you want to go over all the sh*t I went through, move to 11 west broadway. When I had noise complains, the manager Dave did not trust my judgment. He came to my apartment at 1 AM after many time I complained about the noise from Stephis' in Southie, and he pretended did not hear anything, then wrote me a super long report which said that management can do nothing about the noise. Kim, the manager dealing with lease never showed up in the building, and she had super rude, selfish and unprofessional words to manipulate residents through the email in the suburbs because she even did not pick up the phone call or call people back. Every time I had the request, she claimed herself was on the VOCATION and reaching out her "next week". Yes, when you pay $3000-$4400/month, the manager is spending your money on the vocation in the office hours. Yoni, the agent who showed units to me, was a big liar. He promised me the carpet could be cleaned before I moved in, but the carpet had not been washed until the 3rd month after I moved in. Forget about he tells you that switching unit if you do not like your apartment after move-in or breaking the lease if you need to. Once you move in, you stay there for A YEAR. Also, he will show your occupied unit to people two months before you move out. EVERY DAY, you will get the showing notice email from him. EVERY DAY, you will have strangers in your apartment in last two months you are there. Even though I told him I did not want to be bothered sometimes, he still had people came over and knocked my door. If you do not care about the privacy and want to have the nightmare, go for 11 west broadway.

This is a great place to live! The building is mostly owner-occupied, but I rented a 500ft2 studio…read moreunit from an owner for about 2 years. It is only a 10-minute walk to the North Quincy T station, which is very convenient. Unfortunately, it is not well lit and there are not sidewalks, so it is a bit precarious at night and during the winter. The foyer was recently updated with paint, new furniture, plants, etc.; the elevator updated with beautiful new tile, and all of the hallway carpeting replaced. Entry to the building is by key-fob or buzzer only, and the foyer is monitored by video camera. I have always felt very, very safe there. The tenants/owners are a mix of young families (more and more babies lately), young professionals, and middle-aged folks. I've never had an issue with loud neighbors or any sort of disturbance. The building is not pet-friendly and is also non-smoking. The pool is open memorial day - labor day, I believe. It isn't heated, but it's so nice to have a private place to enjoy a dip! There is a community room by the pool, which includes restrooms and a sauna (out of order and used as a closet). The community room is pretty dingy, which is too bad because it would make a great place to have a baby shower, birthday party, etc. If your unit is in the front of the building, your private balcony has an unfortunate view of the parking lot and the highway. However, if you're in the back, you've got a stunning spot to watch the sun set, the 4th of July fireworks, and the Neponset river. There are walking trails very close by, as well as a supermarket/gym within a mile. Very close to the highway. If you've got a bike, there is a locked bike room especially for you. Mobility issues? No problem, you can take the elevator! There are two! Amy Nutter of the Niles Company (Building Management) is notoriously hard to get ahold of. BUT, on-site maintenance (His name is "D") is absolutely phenomenal and is also available for side-jobs, like fixing your garbage disposal, etc. Trotsky, who cleans the hallways early in the morning, is a wonderful guy, and has even given me a lift to the train a few times! Building maintenance does a PHENOMENAL job of clearing the snow. Your deeded parking spot will e kept clean. Seriously- these folks are out there plowing as soon as the snow starts to fall. I have never had an issue getting to my car. The pathways are also salted and the foyer is kept fry in the snow/rain. Also- there is ample guest parking as well as a little bit of street parking. Tenants/Owners atre very respectful about parking spaces- I've never had anyone park in mine!

Edgewater Place Condominiums is old apartment building. The rental units are old and updated and…read morenot well maintained by the owners. The Heating systems are horrible. You need four humidifiers to keep you healthy. The place is run by a Board of Trustees rules about noises and parking, if you break a rule, you will be fined. When the Board of Trustees create issues, they do not fix them, they just ignore them. The parking lot was redone, and the parking spaces are super small. The trustees do not fix this issue, they just ignored it. I have an extra small parking space. It is a seven point to pull the car of out and four attempts to get my car into this space. I am not able to open my car door. I must squeeze in and out of my car. When I complained about this issue, I was told I could rent a space from another resident. The trustees hired a weatherproofing company to redo the balcony doors. This company had a mishap and I have Epoxy all over my car. The weatherproofing company gave me a small check to get my car fixed. I am expected to pay out of pocket to get my car fixed. I will eventually get reimbursed. I am still missing a screen in the living area. The screens were removed on August, 2021. I would not recommend this place to any renters. Renters pay rent and are not treated well around this place.

I lived in the MetroMark apartments for three years (6/18-6/21) and overall had a very positive…read moreexperience. I ended up having to find a place in Boston from afar (and then move sight unseen) and was able to easily browse open apartments on their website and then work with a staff person to get photos of the place I'd eventually live in and secure a lease. Moving in was super easy--I think I just paid a $250 deposit apart from first month's rent--as was moving out. I leased a one bedroom apartment while I lived here and it was clean and spacious. The bedroom was big (several feet to each wall on every side of a queen bed) and there was a walk in closet that had room for not only my dresser, but also storage space for plenty of boxes--lots of cabinet space in the kitchen and a coat closet in the main room, too. All of the appliances were new and nice and I only once had an appliance issue (an electrical problem with the dishwasher, which the staff fixed right away). I'd also never had a washer and dryer in an apartment before, so that felt like a luxury. All of the appliances were energy- and water-efficient, too, which was great. I lived on the sixth floor of my building on the side facing Washington Street and the bus depot. I never especially had street noise issues and only once had a noise problem with a neighbor. I also lived next to the elevator and never heard it. I will say that even facing mostly away from the train tracks, I heard (and felt) the trains constantly. It didn't especially bother me since I already slept with ear plugs in and my bedroom was carpeted, but I can see how it would be an annoyance for some. I always found the MetroMark staff to be polite, helpful and responsive (I most recently most often was in touch with Jaz in the office and Joel at the desk--both great people!). The one time I needed after hours maintenance help (small issue with my AC during the summer), Joel was super helpful. I did also think that the building management did an excellent job trying to keep residents safe and informed during the pandemic. I never really used the common spaces at the buildings, though they looked nice. I did find it a little odd that the TV lounges didn't have cable service, though the computer/study area did have good wifi and a printer. The one thing that I did use a bit was the gym--nice weights, treadmills and bikes, but it felt small sometimes for how many people were using it (especially at night). I never had a car in Boston and it was nice that the building had several Zip Cars in the parking lot, though I eventually preferred using the Enterprise rental location down Washington Street for longer trips. The location of the building and the neighborhood were both outstanding. I worked downtown and my commute door to door via the orange line was about 35-40 minutes. Jamaica Plain is a great neighborhood and having the expansive green spaces of the arboretum, Franklin Park and the Southwest Corridor so close was fantastic. South and Centre streets in JP are great little main streets with lots of good restaurants and bars and independent shops. One thing that I didn't love about my lease terms (though the language was very clear) was that the month to month option was extremely expensive. That said, I renewed my lease twice and my rent did not go up one dollar in three years, which was amazing to me.

But with the…read morecircumstances as they are, I'm fairly upset with the apartment complex currently and if I had known two years ago this would have been where I was at, I probably would have gone with a different complex. First and foremost, if you intend on having any unexpected life changes I would suggest a different complex. MetroMark makes you sign a 90 (NINETY) Day Lease Break agreement, and I fairly certain when you are breaking a lease you generally do not know THREE months ahead of time that you are breaking this lease. In my case it is that I was offered a job on the west coast. Secondly, they also do not allow subletting. So even if you find a suitable person to take over your lease, they won't allow it. You also are not allowed to add a roommate until your lease is over - so couples looking to potentially move in together please be aware of this. Lastly, they will not work with you on the renewal amounts. This renewal cycle they wanted to raise my rent $450 - and while the potential new renter I had in line was willing to sign the renewal if they met him halfway, I was told that the amounts were as they stand. Yes, it is a pet friendly community, but most people don't pick up after their dogs (I am a dog owner and while I appreciate the available dog bags people rarely use them). The only reason this is a two star and not a one star because I am frankly very angry they are not willing to work with their residents when it comes to life changing events, is the cleaning staff is very kind and do their best to keep the building clean. Do with this review what you will, but please make sure you take a look at your leases before you sign them - especially since this place has shown they're just in it for the money grab. Ask for a lease example for any place you apply to and make sure the terms fit what you are looking for, because frankly if the last three years have taught us anything, you never know what life throws you and I suggest finding a more sympathetic apartment complex.
