I was visiting a friend that lives in Abbot's Ripton. For my last weekend in town, she booked us a table at Abbot's Elm. First, we walk in and she immediately knows people and she's only been here a few months. This speaks to the warmth of the community. Second, everyone is excited for the live music portion of the evening. It's very convivial and friendly.
We went back into the restaurant to eat and I was so enticed by several items on the menu. My friend and I decided to split a shared board, a sweet potato tartine and a sticky toffee pudding. All of these items made my mouth sing and I felt all my fat cells tingle with delight! We both wished we ordered our own tartine because it was savory... sweet potato, zucchini, fig, goat cheese.... I'm sure other pieces that led to perfection. We then were so grateful we split the tart when we tasted the first bite of the pudding. We substituted the whiskey ice cream instead of vanilla. It was like they were made for each other. I will be thinking of this meal for a long time to come.
Beyond the food, they have a lovely and diverse wine list and offer by glass/carafe/bottle. I'm already looking forward to my next visit when I'm in town again. read more
