Our brand new La-Z-Boy chair just arrived this week, and it looks great and is very comfortable. I…read morewaited until after it was delivered to be able to write a review on the whole process, beginning to end. Usually, La-Z-Boy is not our style. Unfortunately, the stores we normally shop for furniture at don't stock oversized recliners like I wanted for a reading chair. We weren't looking for anything fancy. Just a big, comfy chair to read in at night in the bedroom where no one is going to see it. So we ended up at La-Z-Boy. The showroom is pretty large and well organized. The layout makes sense and it all flows nicely as you walk around looking at their selection. We sat in a few chairs before someone (Caroline) walked up to help us. She really helped us narrow our search to exactly what we were looking for. I found a chair I really liked pretty quickly. She showed us tons of different fabrics and colors we could choose from, gave us the price, and took our information. We wanted a night to think about it. I got home and checked out their website to make sure I was seeing all of my choices in the store. I was not. There was one other chair, similar to the one I was looking at in the store, online. I think it was new, so they didn't have it on the floor yet. So we went back the next day, told Caroline that we found this other chair on their website, and wanted to look at it, if possible. They couldn't find it at first, but it turns out they did have one in the local factory. In order to get this chair into the store to test it out, we had to put in an order for it (or for another item). This wouldn't have been ok if we weren't sure we were going to purchase one of the two chairs for sure, but we were, so it worked for us. A week later, they had the chair in the store, and we went in to look at it. It turns out that, yep, I liked that one better! Good thing I went to the website and looked! We ordered the chair, put a small deposit down, got our estimate of 8 weeks, and left. I'm not typically a very patient person, and Caroline's customer service really pandered to that. She called me every step of the way. When the order was accepted, when the chair was just about ready to be shipped to Phoenix, etc. Once the chair was in Phoenix, I received an automated call informing me of how to pay and schedule a delivery date. Pretty straightforward and easy. The delivery was in only a few days from when I paid. I got a call two days in advance with a time window for delivery day. They arrived at the beginning of the window, which was nice. The delivery guys were also really nice. They answered all of my questions, they didn't scuff my walls or break anything, and the chair is put together just fine and works great! So, from beginning to end, it was a pretty good furniture buying experience. It took around 7 weeks to complete. I just wish they had all of their items in stock, and that I didn't have to order a chair before they would bring it to the showroom for me to test. That's kinda unfair to customers. Anyway, I would definitely recommend this La-Z-Boy store and Caroline.

When I moved to Tucson, my incredibly ugly and embarrassingly unusable kitchen was my number one…read morepriority for an overhaul. I would include photos of that disaster here but your eyes would hurt. I immediately started contacting several designers. Most didn't return calls. A few said they were booked for at least a year. Helen was the only one who contacted me. I was lucky I did because this small kitchen, comprising a tiny kitchen and tinier laundry room would require Swiss Army knife precision to: - combine the kitchen and laundry room - give me more floor area - create a logical work space - add much more storage - adhere to my minimalist aesthetic. Helen wasn't scared away and her design nailed my bullet points in only a few sessions. I had no timeline for completion because I've managed construction projects in a past life. I wanted Helen and her construction team to take their time and deliver quality. As I expected, this old house presented several major challenges during the demo and build phases. All were addressed logically and successfully. The cabinet installation was a true jigsaw puzzle because the small space meant tolerances had to be exact. This was probably the toughest part of the total remodel and it was fascinating to watch it all get assembled. I'm very pleased with the results. The appliances are superb, the flow to do basic tasks in this new space is so natural and intuitive, and, I no longer have the ugliest kitchen in my neighborhood. It's a surprising show stopper when people visit: so much kitchen in such a small space. Having managed large projects, the key to success during the process is having patience and an understanding that mistakes happen. It made this complex remodel relatively pain free and the result was worth it!
