As a hardened skeptic, my father's pleas to treat myself to this meditation course fell on deaf ears for many, many months. Until one day they didn't, and I signed up. How grateful I am that I listened to my dad. Barrett is an incredible teacher and human being. It's rare to see someone who can communicate effectively and with kindness, not only about his topic but about life in general, to an incredible array of students. Our group classes and meditation sessions are some of the most diverse and interesting mixes of people I've experienced in LA (and I'm a very social person). And again--I'm a skeptic, but... I went to class believing that in finding stillness I would find "my person." And I did! Am I saying that this class is magic? Yes! In a sense, it is magic. Not because taking the class directly led me to meet my future husband but because it lead me to myself, and that's someone I needed to meet before I could meet anyone else. The introspection and collective awareness Barrett teaches is incredibly beneficial to all aspects of one's life, not just relationships. Go, go, go. You will love him and love the class and love the students, and you'll just feel better in the world. If you even wonder if 40 minutes a day could give you a whole new perspective on life, then the 1% Project is for you. read more

Before taking Andrew's intro course, I had never been interested in meditation. In fact, I had always been skeptical of meditation and would not have been the type to believe that something so simple and subtle could change my life from day one. But it did. That first session was all I needed to feel and understand the benefits of Vedic Meditation. Since then, meditating has been instrumental to my health and overall well-being. The most amazing thing about Andrew's course is that I was ok before I started meditating. My stress levels were pretty manageable and life as a whole was pleasant. But the truth is that I simply didn't know how much better my daily experience could be if I applied the techniques and knowledge of Andrew's teachings! Since taking the course about a year ago, I have been meditating regularly and have seen an impressive transformation that is understated, and at the same time remarkable. I can confidently say that Vedic Meditation is for everyone and that Andrew is a fantastic teacher who can guide you - in a very straightforward, yet magical way - to what is sure to be the best thing you've ever done for yourself. read more

Andrew is my go-to source for meditation. Prior to taking his course, I was hesitant about how meditation may positively impact my life. It was a time thing. I'm 36 and have worked out since my early 20ies. I've participated in many spiritual practices and self-developmental programs. Would meditation truly make a difference? Did I have the time to do it? Once I put my resistance aside and committed to two 20-min meditations daily, my world shifted. My career path has continually put my outside of my comfort zone and I now feel as though I have an effective tool - meditation - to battle the anxiety of it. Time conspired to take it in. Months ago was a guest on my podcast, Your Love Accomplice, which is one of our most popular episodes. There he shares about how falling in love can feel like anxiety as the heart expands to take another in. Meditation is one way to better understand the self and also help you share the experience of yourself with another. Given that Andrew is a Beatles know-it-all, he produced a "Meditation Meets The Beatles" experience as a host for my start-up, Underground Unattached. The event, hosted at his lovely home, aimed to connect singles through a unique musical meditation journey. It's fun to be of witness to Andrew's zone of genius and enthusiasm towards it. I feel blessed to have found a lifelong teacher in Andrew. Please enjoy the wisdom he has to share too. read more

I had a great time at "Meditation Meets the Beatles". Andrew's extensive background in Transcendental Meditation Training and his obvious love for everything Beatles combined to make this a unique and entertaining evening. There was so much cool tidbits of information he shared regarding the meaning of the song lyrics and the evolution and influence of the Beatles relationship with Maharishi Mahesh. A really good time was had by Beatles fans and meditators alike! read more

I initially found Barrett Meditation via a "Meditation and The Beatles" workshop/talk (highly recommend it). It was in that talk that the concept of meditation and more specifically why I wanted to do it and how it would help me became clear. So I took Andrew's 4 day vedic meditation course and have been meditating twice a day (for 20 minutes) ever since. I've seen a lot of benefits. I'm sleeping better, performing at a higher level, have better moods and people remark how much different I seem for the better. I highly recommend this teacher and course. It's practical, not "woo woo". read more

The meditation that I learned with Berrett is the most important skill that I have earned in the last year. I have been meditating for years, but having a busy, new idea generalist and a bit scattered brain, neither of the meditation gave me real peace of mind. I could sit for 20-30-40 minutes doing Mindfulness or Vipassana meditation, but my brain couldn't rest from thoughts that needed supervision. Sometimes I finished even more stressed than I started. I had heard about Trascendental Meditation, but I've never had the opportunity to learn. Last year I finally participated in Dating&Meditating and I also saw Berrett with one-on-one counseling. The counseling helped me to set my goals and step on my path immediately. So I knew this is the time to learn to meditate properly. After the first few times: My whole days had been changed. My scattered-day dreaming is a lot more manageable and I wake up more easily. Every task and decision making became easier and productive. That means I can focus more at work I can do a lot more or even when I enjoy more the time with friends. It takes 20 minutes morning and night which I usually look forward too, because it is such a peaceful time of my day. I couldn't recommend more to learn this lifetime skill that will be always in your hands. Namaste! Let it be! read more

Just finished up Barrett's intro to meditation course and I can already feel the positive effects in many aspects in my life. I've been an on and off meditator for a few years, but I've struggled to find a technique that felt right and was easy to maintain. After lots of research, I decided Vedic Meditation was worth the investment I just needed to find the right teacher. I'm so glad I took my time because I couldn't have asked for a better teacher in Barrett. He creates a lovely, warm, inclusive environment to learn meditation, and his course is the perfect combination of spirituality and science. You can tell that Barrett loves what he does and wants to teach and help as many people as he can. Barrett gave us all ample space to interpret the practice in the best way for our personal situations, and he was an invaluable resource throughout the 4-day process. Not only did I learn a meditation technique I plan to incorporate into my daily life, I felt like I also gained a community of like-minded people. I'm so excited and grateful for a truly inspiring and transformational course. No matter who you are or what your background is, this intro course will change your life!! read more

Andrew's group meditation classes were a great introduction to vedic meditation and I decided to do the 4 day course. His approach breaks down the science behind meditation and makes it very easy to understand and practice. By following his method and teachings, my stress levels have decreased, overall happiness has increased and I have a much clearer mind. His teaching method is great for anyone looking to do the same and I couldn't recommend him more! read more

My childhood's soundtrack was provided by The Beatles. We had all their records, watched all their movies and tv appearances, they permeated our home. As an adult I learned Vedic Meditation, the technique the Beatles famously learned from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Recently Andrew Barrett united these two loves of mine in the most fun and meaningful way! Any meditator or fan of the Beatles will love his Beatles & Meditation Mashup. It's fascinating. He pulls together elements most documentaries don't know about or simply overlook. Attending this session was like hearing the music for the first time with new eyes and ears. Also a cool way to meet other meditators and learn a little about Vedic Meditation if you're not yet practicing. Andrew Barrett is passionate about this knowledge and the technique. You would be hard pressed to find a more authentic Teacher. Two thumbs up!! Check it out. read more

For years I have been practicing meditation on my own and trying to figure out my own path to a calmer and peaceful life. Finally I decided to look into getting some guidance to help me better understand what I was doing and what I was trying to achieve. Andrew helped me focus and relax as he explained in easy to understand detail what and how Vedic meditation techniques help shape our day to get the most out of life. I did my research and that led me to Andrew. It worked for me. Thanks Andrew! read more

I took Andrew's course almost a year ago and it has honestly changed my life. I've always been drawn to yoga and meditation but I never fully committed myself to a daily meditation practice. At first, the idea of meditating twice a day seemed like a huge feat but the course taught me to embrace all of the feelings that come up and just allow them to move through me. Now, it's hard to imagine not having meditation in my life. I am a different person - more aware, less stressed and more "me." I highly recommend the course and Andrew is a wonderful teacher of the Vedic philosophy. read more

Andrew's "Meditation and the Beatles" presentation was amazing! He's a masterful storyteller who weaves together music, images, and stories. His passion for the subject is evident in the rich detail he conveys. I already considered myself a Beatles expert, but Andrew is at another level. He helped me appreciate how meditation helped shape many of the group's songs, particularly on "the White Album." It was fascinating to learn how the group (after studying transcendental meditation at an India ashram) helped meditation become more popular in the US. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about music history and how meditation is intertwined with pop culture. read more

Andrew's Beatles presentation is fantastic. He make speaks of the Beatles Vedic influences in a very clear and knowledgable way. The Beatles having so much influence, it can be hard to wrap your head around their story; it just is, somehow, sprouted from the head's of genius. I found that as a music lover, it can be hard to see them in any other way than the world looked one way, then the Beatles came and everything was different. This one evening, really gave me insight to the world's most important band and I highly recommend it to any music folks who love the Fab Four or people interested in the underlying currents of one popular cultures biggest influences. read more

I had always thought of myself as being "bad" at meditating because it was so difficult for me to sit still for long periods of time, "clear my mind" and just be calm. This meditation course taught me that I actually don't need to do any of those things in order to meditate. It's the simplest, easiest and most transformative experience I've ever learned how to do! I just wish I had done it sooner. It has helped with so many aspects of my life: stress reduction, improving sleep, productivity, focus, motivation, awareness... I don't know how I lived without it! read more

I'm a new meditator and when I heard that Andrew was going to teach the Vedas, I didn't hesitate. It's been an eye opening and mind expanding experience and I'm glad to be learning from Andrew. He's been great at unpacking all the knowledge and he's someone I would recommend to all my friends who are interested in meditation or the Vedas. read more

TM changed my life and I'm so happy I was integrated by Andrew. Andrew is great and hosts weekly group meditations at his home. A truly articulate, intelligent and intuitive person who is a pleasure to speak to and learn from. read more

Andrew's talk on Meditation and The Beatles is for anyone interested in meditation and/or music...which means just about everybody! Andrew is a great storyteller whose passion for The Beatles' music and the practice of meditation make for a truly engaging, unique presentation. The fact that he studied at the same Ashram in India certainly gave him insights few possess. It was a great experience that lead me to listen to The Beatles more and expand my exploration into meditation. Cannot imagine there is anyone better informed or better suited to give this type of presentation. A very satisfying experience and time well spent. Could not recommend it highly enough. read more

I went to Andrew Barret's Beatles/Meditation night recently, and it was a terrific evening. The people were nice; the music was great. Andrew, our Vedic philosopher DJ, moved adroitly from song to image to song, tying together music and pop culture and spirituality. I left with an altered perspective - and a bunch of tunes in my head. Very cool. read more

I can't say enough good things about Barrett Mediation and Andrew as a teacher. I reached out to Andrew during an incredibly trying and stressful time in my life. I was at a crossroads professionally and my stress was starting to affect my health. After completing my training with Andrew, I began to get a grip on the challenges I was facing and with daily meditation I could finally breathe again. Andrew's approach and teaching method is so easy to digest. It's practical, user friendly and for someone whose mind races a million miles per minute, even I was able to make this practice a part of my daily life. With a new way to battle my stress (before it even entered my system), I was able think clearly again and make positive changes in my life that led to an amazing new chapter. All I can say is THANK YOU Andrew. You are a gifted teacher and friend and I hope many more people get to study and practice with you! read more
