Thameslink runs the franchise of the same game in British rail, operated by Govia who also run Go Ahead, one of the biggest bus companies in many UK cities from Brighton to London.
After staying in Brighton watching my Manchester City win the league, I used Thameslink for the first time to get back to London St Pancras, one of four train routes providing London - Brighton services, Thameslink serves the likes of London Bridge and St Pancras.
They also serve Gatwick Airport.
Journey time does take slightly longer than other providers from Brighton, for example, Southern takes 1 hour and 2 minutes into Victoria, 57 minutes on Gatwick Express meanwhile the first London terminal with Thameslink is one hour and seven minutes.
I've noticed tickets cost more than with Southern, but less than the Gatwick Express so ticket prices are reasonable.
The trains inside were pretty large and modern, there wasn't a lot of tables other than pull-down airline style ones, however, which I didn't like.
I never noticed a staff member on the train to offer assistance in case of emergency or even sell food or beverages in my entire journey which lasted around 90 minutes with a small delay (the train was held up for some reason).
A decent train provider between London stations, providing connections around the South. Ticket prices are "reasonable" by British standards anyway. Interestingly, even though an advance ticket is cheaper with Thameslink compared to the other providers mentioned, an off-peak return ticket works out slightly cheaper!
3* - Modern trains, reasonably comfortable but more could be done in terms of facilities on the train (food, drinks, table, staff), journey time and ticket prices in all areas. The trains running almost on time is a bonus, especially on a day where most trains between London and Brighton were delayed. read more
