So new and shiny that it won't be on most maps, Hoxton is a spick and span new station on the equally slick and shiny revamp of the East London Line. And if it's not on your map, navigate towards the Geffrye Museum on Kingsland Road, because Hoxton station is just behind it, tucked down Cremer Street.
Maybe it was my geeky delight at finally having where I live, in the deepest darkest depths of South East London, connected to the bright lights of Brick Lane, Shoreditch and Hoxton, but I was quite the giddy goat on a recent trip through Hoxton station.
Everything's clean and pristine, the staff haven't yet been harangued into morose apathy, and the displays were all on and working, even on a Sunday. When the train arrived, it was almost empty, and at near-Artic temperatures rather than the sweaty cattle-trucks on other lines. This is what travelling in the capital should be like all the time.
