Thali Sweets & Grill made the best chicken tikka masala and pulao rice that I have ever had. The taste was phenomenal s portions were huge and I could easily smell the garlic in the garlic naan that I ordered. This is a small restaurant and I noticed they had more take out orders than dine-in. Customer service can be slow as a result. If you are in a rush, you may want to opt for take out. My roommates and I recently just ordered from this restaurant through skip the dishes. When the food was delivered, we essentially got butter chicken gravy (hardly any chicken) and shrimp masala with hardly any shrimp as well. We figured we would call and inform of this; however, the lady on the other line had absolutely no idea how to address our concern, let alone understand what we are trying to say. The phone call was pointless as she said that we should call later and that the order would be "better" for next time. The food was fine, but the staff at this restaurant need to ensure that they are equipped with the social skills necessary for answering calls and addressing inquiries/complaints. It must be friends & relatives writing reviews for this place cause my experience with them last few times has been progressively going downhill. And my last and FINAL order from this place gave me violent food poisoning!! It tasted shitty almost like it was a week old or something when eating which was first tip off. They are not consistant at all as I always ordered same thing. Bottomline, food sucks! I was really craving Indian food and based on the many positive reviews I thought I'd try this place out. Service was almost non-existent. Someone came to the counter to take our order then we only saw anyone 20 minutes later when they brought some luke warm water to our table. 50 minutes after we placed our order, after watching several take-out orders come and go, we still didn't have our food and no sign of any wait staff so we left to find something to eat elsewhere. read more

When I found out my usual Indian takeout joint closed down, I decided to try the next closest place and came upon Thali Sweets. It lived up to its positive reviews. The food was good and the price reasonable. The lady at the till was very nice too. Fast forward a few weeks later, I wanted to bring samosas for a potluck party and thought of Thali Sweets. I placed an order from Thai Sweets & Grill as I had some friends over... When the order arrived, I was greatly disappointed when I opened and inspected the contents. I counted 7.5 pieces of chicken (Butter Chicken) in a large tray, 4 pieces of shrimp... both a lost sunken money grab in a tray of oily sauce. After I confirmed with my guests that this was the numbers I counted, I attempted to call the store. I spoke to a women who just answered the phone by saying "hello"; not greeting the customer, and following the welcome by the name of the business. I had to confirm I was speaking with a restaurant. Once I figured this out I began explaining why I am calling. The women stated "oh, next time, next time". I responded by asking "what is going to happen next time"? She stated, "then order more". I quickly became irritated with the situation I asked to speak with the Manager. I was told "No, he is busy, call back later". My fellow customers... the level of service at this establishment is NON EXISTENT, and you DO NOT get what you pay for. I am reading some of the "excellent/Good" reviews and I am starting to think staff are writing these... In my recent trip to Surrey, BC, I was craving Indian food then I found this restaurant which did not have much reviews or pics but, still thought of trying it out. The outside looks ok. They have very nice seating arrangements and I can't stop praising their food. I was in a hurry and as on budget so ordered Paneer Makhni and Garlic Naan. I also ordered 1 garlic naan and Daal Makhni to go. They portions are really nice. They have 2 options for curries small & large. I ordered large, which was good enough for 4 people. Their garlic naan was so soft and big too. I loved the food here. The lady who takes order was so polite and made us feel welcomed. I would 100% recommend people to go and try the food. read more

This is my favourite place to come for indian food in town. My favourite is the shahi paneer but honestly you could pick any item at random and be totally satisfied. It's THAT good. What an amazing find. An unassuming gem serving up the best butter chicken I have had in BC. I'm visiting from Toronto and a relative suggested this place. The restaurant is setup for takeout as seating is limited. The quality of the ingredients and variety of the herb/spices making up the dishes is well above what you would assume coming in. Yum, every time i order from this place it is bomb. We are vegetarians and our go to is the Kadhi Pakora and Bhartha. If you order two dishes, you get a free salad and Naan. The dishes are a good size for like 7 dollars, so dinner for two (plus another helping of leftovers!) is like 15 bucks and so so so good. This is our go to place now for bomb Indian takeout. The Bhartha (curried eggplant... yummmmmm) is so yummy. The location isn't so convenient for us but we don't care because its that good. They usually have our order ready 20 minutes after I call, and it always tastes so fresh and delicious. The Naan is good too! We've never tried the sweets but they look good too. I hope they would consider opening up this place for sit down meals. Right now it is take out only but if they put a table here, we would bring guests when they come to visit, our families, etc. You gotta eat here! read more
