I am mortified that the previous/first reviewer has written such a review of what is by far the best salon I have ever been to in my life. I am certain that what she says could not have happened. I had to read this review to believe that anyone would write what I cannot believe to be true because of my experience which is truly the polar opposite. While I can say that I have a bias toward this salon that is just as strong as Anita S's very obvious hate of the salon, my review will show that this bias reflects my loyalty that the ladies at THairapy have worked hard to deserve. I am telling you that this Salon saved my hair! I would suggest that anyone who is in doubt about what type of business this is and what level of professionalism they maintain to read my review, which is 100% true and without embellishment.
I have been a very pleased, 100% satisfied customer since 2010 when I went there for the first time to try the Brazilian Keratin Treatment. I, too, came to the salon with severely damaged hair and was looking for a way to save what hair was left on my head and get my hair repaired and to get it to regrow. A friend from Brazil suggested using the BKT instead of the of the typical chemical treatment that I had been using for years (relaxer), which had been poorly applied and damaged the back of my head. My hair had broken off. It looked horrible and it really affected my self esteem. I went to the internet looking for salons that used the BKT (I sincerely knew nothing about it since I had never seen it used in the African American hair care community). I do not live in Indianapolis, but rather more than an hour away, and hadn't even considered driving there until I found the website for THairapy Salon in Irvington. I did indeed find other salons near me that offered the BKT, but not one was willing to apply the service (at that time) on African American hair. Not for any other reason than not having done it before. The BKT is safe for all hair, of course, but only one salon at that time stated that on its website and it was this salon. I was encouraged to contact this website and to make an appointment because not only did their website inform the apprehensive customer about the process of applying the BKT, but also clearly stated that theirs is a salon open to all people, in fact, I believe they referred to themselves as a "multicultural salon". I still had questions and I wrote an email that was answered the same day by the owner. I made an appointment for the BKT for the following week. They made me feel that this salon was open to all customers, which it clearly is. From that first visit, I was treated with respect. All the stylists in the salon greeted me and as I like to ask questions about every step, no one seemed the least bit annoyed with them. To this day, I still ask questions and they still answer them without reproach. The stylists are professionals and responsible workers. I mention that to point out that as professionals they will not take on a job they know they cannot properly do or disagree with. I have been present when they have told at least one customer that they would not bleach her hair further, though the blond client would've preferred to have her hair go beyond the recommended level of lightening. They refused to service the client. The stylists at THairapy Salon, including the owner, are the epitome of professionalism, offering professional services at fair and competitive prices using only authentic certified tools and only the best quality hair products. I drive more than an hour to go there for all of my hair services because THairapy is my favorite salon and my favorite stylist is there. When choosing a salon your first concern should be about the people you will be dealing with there. This salon models true professionalism: knowledge of the profession, ethical business practices, and responsible and respectful behavior within the salon. These characteristics tell you just as much about the salon as the customers with beautiful, healthy hair leaving it can tell you. I encourage you all to go in and try one of their services and let that allow you to be the true judge of the salon. read more
