I'm so glad I stumbled across this place! I called asking if they had someone who specialized with short cuts. I'm in my 30's.. I didn't want an old lady cut and I haven't been so lucky in the past... that's actually saying a lot because I am a former hairstylist and I'm pretty particular. I can't cut my own hair ‍. They recommended Toby Sizemore to me, he's actually new to the area. They gave me his number and he promptly replied to me. I sent him pictures of styles I liked and he was confident in his abilities. I came in and was greeted immediately and offered a water. Everyone in that salon is so nice and accommodating. I watched as Toby weaved my hair to add some dimension to it and was immediately put at ease because of his technique. I could tell with his placements I was in good hands. Then, came the cut which is always when people mess it up. But, as he was cutting my hair was already looking amazing... wet hair making its shape! What a sight to see as I finally found someone who is truly skilled with short hair. You short hair ladies know what I'm talking about, the wrong cut is impossible to style. My cut and color have earned me so many compliments and with pride I took business cards of Toby's and already handed them all out! I need more Toby if you are reading this! I just received the WORST haircut of my life from Veronica. I look like a chemo patient - my hair is so short I can do nothing with it and it has absolutely no style at all. I will need to wear a wig for at least 6 months until it grows out. Veronica did not listen to anything I had to say regarding my new hairstyle. She proceeded to do her own thing until there was nothing left. I have never been so humilated and embarassed. I work with the fashion industry and this is just devastating. As a newcomer to the desert I've used yelp very successfully to find services. Based on yelp reviews I called Thairapy and spoke with Michael the owner. He asked me a number of questions about my hair and style so he could recommend the best stylist for my short wavy hair. His recommendation was right on the mark. LENNY did a fabulous job on my first haircut with her. She took time at the beginning to understand what I wanted and how much time I want to spend on my hair (not much!). She analyzed my hair, face shape and determined what proportions would work best for me. This extra time she took in the beginning showed in the final result. The shampoo and massage were delightfully relaxing. Lenny really wants to create a relaxing experience for her clients. Chatting with her during the cut was very pleasant. Cherie is back! This girl has been featured in magazines since she has debuted as a hair stylist over 10 years ago, and I know why! She has such an eye for the color and cut, I am a blonde and she does an amazing job every time. Nice folks, took me with short notice. Need to listen better, I asked for single process ash root cover but got dark roots and an off color. I called to complain and got a nice response but was told the only thing they could do for the darker color was highlights. Don't listen to any of the bad reviews :) my mom called in today and the owner was so accommodating finding me a spot in the schedule the same day! I had my hair cut by Nancy. I'm very reserve and nervous about people who touch my hair. My hair is curly.....one little bad snip and your hair will look like a cocker spaniel or something. She specializes in long hair and an expert at curly hair! She mad me feel so comfortable and did exactly what I needed! Love Love Love this place! Six years we have been coming to the desert and I have never allowed any one to touch my hair. Last year I went red with my hair and knew I would not be able to go 4 months with out seeing a stylist/colorist. We love Yelp and find that it's helpful when trying new places so I trusted Yelp in my quest. I found this place and called, I got an appointment with Jacqueline. She is Fabulous!!! I wish she could come home with me (and I love my stylist/colorist at home, been seeing the same person for 13 years). I come see her every 4/6 weeks now when I am in the desert. The only negative I would note (for me) is the owner (Michael) doesn't allow clients to use cell phones when in the salon - we own a business and I carry the business cell with me when I am out and about. Not being able to answer that phone for 2+ hours while my hair is getting done is not ideal; however, it IS a sacrifice I make and will continue to make. read more

I am new to the area and was looking for a hair person. A friend recommended Nancy. I called her right away and she took my call!! AND she got me in 2 days later due to a cancelation. I gotta say I was a little reluctant (always when going to a new hair person). But Nancy really put me at ease, spend a lot of time with me going over different options and ultimately came up with a plan that worked great. She took the time to show me how to style my hair the way she did AND her way of texturizing is the best technique of texturizing I have EVER seen and I absolutely LOVED the results. I am highly recommending LENNY. I am older (60's), heavy - and I like todays short styles - young and trendy and maybe even a bit edgy. But I also don't want to look silly for my age and build. Lenny has done a terrific job of finding just the right style for me. Another friend in the biz says that she feels it is one of the best cuts she'd ever seen. Big praise from a very knowing person. Not only that but I really like her and I feel comfortable with her - no attitude - she's just one cool lady. She does all the services herself (no assistants to wash your hair or pick up the comb if she drops it - etc., etc.), and I like that. As an added perk - her station is also next to the owner, Michael's - who is a very attractive man - so there's nice eye candy while you're there as well. I too found Thairapy through Yelp after just moving to the desert. I was looking for someone who was a great colorist who uses Keratin color, good stylist and experienced with Keratin Express Blow Out. I called Thairapy and was directed to Veronica. She was able to schedule me within a few days and I couldn't be more pleased with the results! I gave her my existing Keratin color formula from my Chicago stylist and she updated it beautifully and she gave me a more modern update on my cut as well. Veronica's station is on the second floor in the relatively new space and it's a beautiful and clean space. Parking is very easy and plentiful behind the shop and the location on El Paseo just at Saint Luis Rey is perfect!! I highly recommend Veronica!! read more

So, like many others that have provided a review, I relocated to the desert in 2012. I will honestly say how much I regret not finding Jason at Thairapy before this year. I will not go into details about the other salon but I discovered Jason becuase I was not happy at the other place. Anyway, I have been to see Jason 3 times now and he has it dialed in perfectly for my highlight/lowlights where my gray hairs kind of blend in as they grown in between sessions. I am extremely happy with his professionalism and his ability to make my hair look ever so gorgeous! You will not be disappointed with Jason's technique and caring attitude.
