Would I say it's the best Thai food I've ever had, No. However it was good and for 10 pm on New Year's Day (not much open) I would have to say they did a really good job-they were quick and the food arrived hot. The quality was good, every ingredient was cooked just right. Pad see you with beef was the star dish for me. The beef was tender and not too fatty like some other restaurants. We ordered it mild and it was the most satisfying level of spiciness. Loved the crunch of the Chinese broccoli. Pad Thai with chicken also good. The sauce was sweet so I'm glad they added lime wedges and crushed peanuts to even it out. Loved the big pieces of green onions as well. Yellow curry was good, someone said it was a little too watery. Another person said they loved the carrots in the dish. I thought it was delicious upon the steam rice. Lastly the fried rice with shrimp, it was good but we wish we made it spicier to give it more of a kick. We were in downtown for a play at the Civic Center. This is prime location for dinner beforehand as the Civic Center is just 2 blocks up. We took an Uber here, but otherwise parking can be a doozy. You can either park at Horton Plaza parking, metered parking nearby or find other parking garages. (I recommend street if you're lucky, but otherwise Horton Plaza is $8 all day) This place is a little shabby inside, but the food is decent. We started off with the chicken wings to share. We returned the chicken as it was raw. They brought it back out after frying it again and comped it for us. We all ordered the dinner special which was great! Despite pretty sad ambience, I was not a huge fan of the food. We had a great experience. We ordered the Mongolian Beef and the Crab Fried Rice. The Mongolian beef was lean and fresh, and full of flavor. The Crab Fried Rice- whew!! Phenomenal! I had some food from here a long time ago and it was not great, but after reading some recent nice reviews, I thought I'd give it another try. Bottom line, the pad Thai was not that tasty, the chicken tasted a bit rancid, so I had to spit it out. And, I asked for a spice level 5, which is why (I guess) I got a little plastic tub of red pepper flakes. Not quite the Thai taste I was hoping for. The food tastes terrible here. Its like they think non thai people won't know what bad thai food tates like. The thai ice tea tates metallic and has a weird after taste. The Tom Ka soup wasn't much better. Everything is super greasy. Good thai food is not greasy. The only thing that I ordered that tasted some what edible was the pineapple fried rice but i added the peanut sauce to it to make it have flavor. The Thai Time on 30th is way better. This was such a disappointment and I love Thai food and know what good Thai food tastes like. We ordered a variety of dishes so we could share and compare. There were so many options to choose from. I began my meal with gyoza soup, which was delicious. I tried the wontons my sister-in-law ordered, and they were super crispy and yummy. I also had the papaya spicy salad, which was tasty and refreshing. You can level your spice; we ordered a 7, which was the perfect balance of flavor and heat. We also ordered Pad See You. I ordered the shrimp and my husband the beef. Saw the prices online and they changed there prices. For lunch specials if you would like chicken drunken noodles it will cost you about $11. So I'm a little disappointed in the previous lunch meals that cost $8. Otherwise it was decent. My noodles tasted great!! It had a good balance of noodles/meat/veggies. Ate here with my friends and brother after a taping of Conan during Comic Con. It is located right behind the Spreckles Theater. It is a small restaurant and appears to be family owned. I thought the food tasted good. My brother ordered the seafood curry and I ordered the pork pad see ew. You can choose how spicy you want your food, from non-spicy to a level 10 of most spicy. I ordered my pad see ew with zero spice, while my brother had a spice level of 5 on his curry. The curry sure had a kick to it!! We also wanted thai tea and thai coffee, but unfortunately, they were out of both. My friend ordered a spicy tom yum and pad thai. I did not try their dishes, but I liked mine. Prices are fairly cheap, especially considering it was downtown and Gaslamp area. Each dish averaged less than $10 and the portions were big. I was stuffed after eating my noodles and trying some of my brother's curry. They take both card and cash. The food came out in a timely manner and our waters were always filled. When the line at Sushi Deli 2 is too long -- and of course it always is -- head around the corner to Thai Time, where there is never a wait. Don't be fooled by the fact that the restaurant is nearly empty! Thai Time's food is delicious, it offers big but not huge portions, it's inexpensive, and we were in and out of there in less than an hour on a Saturday night, just in time to be early for our show at the House of Blues. A good way to test a Thai restaurant is to order a basic noodle dish like pad thai. My companion and I tried pad thai with duck ($9.95), and the dish was saucy (NOT dry) with plenty of thoroughly marinated duck. Some places try to get away with giving you half a plate of bean sprouts, but Thai Time's pad thai offered a heaping mountain of skinny al dente noodles coated nicely with a non-greasy sauce. The pad thai definitely passed our test! We also ordered lad nar with tofu ($7.95), which was very saucy as it should be and nicely seasoned (although the flavor relied much on black pepper). The tofu was fried and sliced up but was soft when it arrived covered in sauce. The lad nar came with plenty of fresh, crunchy vegetables -- carrots, gai lan (Chinese broccoli) and broccoli. The service was better than you'd expect from a casual restaurant. Our server (the only one in the place who was also handling all the to-go orders). He refilled our waters at least twice and checked on us an appropriate amount. It wasn't the best Thai food I've had (and good Thai food is hard to find in San Diego) but it hit the spot and I would definitely go again next time I want a quick, inexpensive meal in downtown San Diego. read more

Usually it's very powerful and flavorful with a hint of sour and savory but this one was basically tomato soup with chicken and vegetables. The chicken larb was sweet. It was so sweet that it was not authentic at all. There were no herbs in it to be remotely similar to the original dish. I'm sorry to give this one star as I genuinely appreciate the "small mom and pop shops" but this was not what I expected. Of to note: I understand the need to appeal to the American public but I would still appreciate a little more authenticity in your dishes. I've walked by here often, but never eaten here and today, I wanted to eat there, but I didn't like the way I was treated by the rude waitress who came to my table yelling at me if I knew what I wanted. I just sat down and it was during lunch time and the only menu the lady handed it to me was the lunch menu where it comes with egg rolls etc. I don't like those lunch menus. I like to order from the regular menus like full menus. Anyhow, when I told the rude/short/abrupt lady I was yet not ready to order. She gave me the look like "hurry up and order" look, so I made the executive/split decision to get up and walk out. I didn't want to spend my good money at a place that will treat me like I'm bothering them and not friendly/welcome whatsoever. It's good thing I did what I did, because when I was getting up and leaving, I saw one of the help guys threw his arms up in the air like "What in the world?". I haven't ordered anything and all they did was pour water in my glass. If they wanted me to stay and eat, then, they shouldn't had treated me with such rudeness.
