Nope.. Nope. This is not Thai food. I came here for dinner and ordered what I normally do at any new (to me) Thai restaurants -- pad thai. For protein, I got chicken and shrimp. Aside from the orange hue the noodles had, there was nothing else "pad thai" about my dish. If anything, my pad thai tasted like ketchup, which should never be the case. My BF ordered his usual - pad kee mao aka drunken noodles. Again, this dish was severely lacking. First off, the noodles were way over done. The noodles did not separate, instead they would break when we tried to pick it up with chopsticks. There was not enough basil, which is an important component of this dish. It just did not taste like drunken noodles usually taste. The service was lacking as well. We sat up at the bar to catch the game. It took quite a while to order our drinks. My thai tea was probably the only item that taste like it was made correctly at our visit. I am perplexed by the rave reviews this place gets. There are other Thai restaurants that are much better and authentic. Expand your horizons people --- branch out and try the other Thai restaurants in town. read more

My friend and I just returned from the soft opening of Thai Time (we were the first customers; how "hipster" is that?). A little isolated from some of the more restaurant-heavy areas of Binghamton, this is a place to keep an eye on. The decor is great; small brick building, excellent decoration, and speakers so they can play Thai music. They're still working on a playlist, but what they were playing sounded great to me. Our waiter was awesome. He had the perfect personality, making jokes, recommending items, and answering our questions, whether they were about the menu or future plans for the restaurant. We split an order of Pepper Shrimp, 4 shrimp wrapped in thin breading with a subtle dipping sauce that complemented nicely. That was only $5. For the main meal, I ordered the Drunken Noodle (which our waiter backed up by telling me it's one of his favorite dishes), and my friend ordered the Red Curry. Every noodle or curry meal comes with the choice of chicken, beef, tofu, and shrimp. We both went with the chicken. Each dish can also be made with a spice level of 1 to 5, pretty typical for these kinds of restaurants. Most are level 1 or 2, but after our waiter told us that the menu levels were mild, my friend got his level 3, and I level 4. Both came with a small salad with peanut sauce in a side dish. The sauce was good, though my friend liked it more than I did. As for the main course, I LOVED my noodles. Thin cuts of chicken, sprouts, baby corn, and a great combination of spices, all blended with thin rice noodles. There was a side of rice too, which I honestly ignored for most of the meal as I focused on those delicious noodles. My friend enjoyed his curry, and we both agreed we'd go again, but my noodles were definitely the better of the two. They were clearly working a few kinks out, what with the soft opening; our waiter forgot a few things (he brought the curry, then came back with the rice 10 seconds later), but nothing major, and nothing to complain about. I only give it a 4 out of 5 because I'm sure it'll be better in a few weeks. I recommend Thai Time to anyone who enjoys Thai food. They brag that it's authentic, and I'm inclined to believe them. There's something a little different about the food, in a good way, and I can't wait to go back. I'm not that familiar with Thai food. We had received gift cards so, we tried it out. I had the Drunken Noodle. Very spicy! I can't eat a lot of spicy food due to acid reflux but, I gave it a try. They also literally forgot to give us silverware, and when we asked, the guy just plopped it on the table. Very classy. Atmosphere: The exposed brick wall is cool, and it's a nice layout overall. However it was freezing inside during our visit and we all kept our coats on. Food/Drinks: the Thai iced tea is amazing. The curry puffs are delicious, as are the crispy spring rolls. The summer rolls are decent but nothing special. My pineapple curry was good but VERY SPICY, a little more than I was expecting but I should have asked first. My husband and I were going out to eat and found out our restarant was closed on Sundays..so we went to Thai Time! It was open and we had the best dinning experience! There was likely calamari - I found 2 chewy things. The sauce had a shallow flavor, and was overly sweet. My mother had Ginger Delight with tofu. I was surprised to see that the restaurant expanded to now have a sushi or Japanese side. When my party and I walked in, we awkwardly waited for quite a while for an employee to even acknowledge us. The host was also behind the counter and hadn't greeted us either. So right off the bat, the service wasn't great. The food was mediocre. Somehow I always end up giving them another chance because their food is genuinely good... but I can honestly say I have never had worse service at any restaurant I've ever been to. This was my first trip to this restaurant. I had heard mixed reviews but decided to try myself. The food for the most part was pretty good. The sushi roll I got was a mess and looked like a child made it. But it still tased good. I had an amazing spicy beef salad. But there were the ends of romaine hearts in it. And there were still seeds in the bell peppers. Those were not nice to chew on. The portions were very big and I thought the prices were very reasonable. Been there several times now. The atmosphere is nice, they have a great back patio it overlooks the river for when there is good weather. I love sitting in the bar area it's bright and inviting. I do like Thai time and what it's done for the area; brought something nice and fancy on the river . It's a great location and food is not bad. From what I've had off the menu and the times I've been here I get mixed reviews because the food to me is always on a lower end of "so so" . I always tell myself I don't come here for Thai food but for the view but then again I do like good food with a view. I can't speak for many people but only for myself and I'm always looking for places with amazing food and am always sharing those places with others. Do try this place. I still have them 4 stars cause their sushi is pretty good and the dessert is delicious. What an absolute nightmare of a restaurant this is. A party of 5 of us had dinner here on 4/13/19 and I can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant. First, we waited for someone to acknowledge us for about 5 minutes after we came in, all while the hostess was at the counter not doing anything. Then we were told it would be 10 minutes for them to clean off the table that was right behind us. Fine. After being seated 10 minutes later, it took another 10 minutes for the waitress (who was very rude, more on that later...) to bring us water and take our drink orders. By that time we already knew what we wanted to eat, so we ordered our food too. About 15 minutes later the drinks come out, and we were missing two of the drink orders. After another 20 minutes only two of the 5 sushi rolls that we ordered as as part of the dinner came out. Another 10 minutes go by and another 2 rolls came out, and they forgot the fifth roll. We also ordered 3 entrees and only 2 of them came out after ANOTHER 15 minutes or so. We weren't in too much of a time crunch, but parties that come together should eat together. After informing the waitress that we were missing a sushi roll, an entire entree, and a drink, I told her that "I understand it may not be all your fault, but the service tonight was really awful." She replies, "You're very rude. I don't know what the hell you want me to do; I have been busting my ass off all night. You got all of your food, I don't understand what you're complaining about. What do you want from me?" She then went on to advise me to leave a bad review on Yelp and not to return if I didn't like it. First, very unprofessional response. Second, we did not get all of our food. Third, yes, you may be working hard, but do not take that out on the customer because of poor management. There was also another table next to us that got up and left after half an hour of not being served their dinner. Overall, the food was mediocre; way too much rice in the sushi rolls, but the drunken noodles tasted good. Absolutely terrible service, I will definitely not be back again. I've been to Thai Time on three occasions now, and rather than getting better it seems to have gotten worse. On our most recent visit, we had an abysmal time. We arrived around 7 PM on Friday night to a crowded restaurant. We were seated quickly in the new downstairs area. Our waitress took our drink order. I asked for a margarita, and she asked what kind of vodka I wanted in it. I repeated that I wanted a margarita, not a martini, and that well tequila was fine. She asked if I wanted any olives. Again, I clarified that it was a margarita, not a martini. We also ordered our food at this point: tom kha gai and the spicy beef salad to start, drunken noodles, bangkok garlic with chicken, and pineapple curry. I waited about 20 minutes before my drink came, but at least it was a margarita. At this point, we were starting to get antsy for appetizers. It took another half hour for those to arrive. I was reminded of why I go to Thai Time despite the generally poor service. The spicy beef salad was fantastic. The vegetables were well-prepared and fresh, the heat in the salad was perfect for my tastes. Spicy without drowning out all of the other flavors. The tom kha gai was also very good. We were patient, as the restaurant was very crowded, but after waiting nearly an hour we finally asked the waitress when we could expect our food. She told us we were the next order up. Awesome. 15 minutes later, she told us that they were about to start cooking our food. What? We apologized and told her that we had to leave. An hour and 15 minutes and our food was just being cooked? No way could we wait any longer. We had movie tickets for 9:00, and it was already 8:15. I was so disappointed by this experience. I explained my frustrations to the hostess as we paid. The manager or owner, I'm not sure which, was standing right next to her and he just let the poor girl handle the situation. I ended up apologizing to her, as I knew that none of our issues were her fault. She actually said "Sometimes I think we seat people just for the sake of seating them, even though it's already too crowded.". It's sad when the staff recognized a problem and is powerless to remedy it. Seriously, just take a pass on this place. If I could I would give this place 0 stars. With no doubt in my mind , Thai Time has provided the WORST SERVICE I have ever received. I've been here on three separate occasions (not by choice) with friends and each time service progressively became worse. The first time, service was just extremely slow despite a lack of customers. Our water remained unfilled while the waiters would stand around twiddling their thumbs. Food would come out at an incredibly slow pace and the waiter barely said a word to us. The second time I visited, all the issues above arose yet again. However, this time the waitress yelled at us for not providing adequate tip. We explained to her that we provided 20% despite horrible service as a group of 5, but she did not understand the math. She held us at the counter while she furiously typed her calculations in her calculator. I believe it was the owner who eventually came out to see what was going on that corrected her mistake. We were then finally able to leave. The third time I went my mind was blown. When we first entered and stood by the counter, we were not asked to be seated despite empty tables around us. The hostess saw us and kept her head down while flipping through the reservation book. She literally flipped the same page over and over again, avoiding eye contact with us and pretended to keep busy despite us asking to be seated. Another guy came out of the kitchen and made a phone call while watching us. She tells us that all the open tables were reserved and we would have to wait 10 minutes. 10 minutes eventually became 50 and we were finally seated. When we were seated , the waiter who "cleaned" the table off left his dirty rag on the chair next to me. We weren't even given a menu as we sat and had to wait 10 minutes for a waiter to bring it. After he brings it and we decide what we want to eat, we were unable to order because we were completely neglected! The waiters would look at our tables and see that we didn't even have glasses for water and that our menus were closed but still walked around doing nothing! One waiter came out of the kitchen empty handed, stretched at the door way, made eye contact when I was waving my hand and ran back into the kitchen to hide. To make matters worse, a white couple walks in and is immediately seated next to us and served water. Furious, we just got up and left because it had literally been and hour and a half and we didn't even get water! The only thing this place has going on for them is the fact that they are the most accessible Thai place in the Binghamton university area. If this level of service were in any big city, this place would go out of business in a day. read more

Actual Rating: 3.4 Place: As usual, this place looks pretty nice! It is easy to get to, and the place would be great for intimate dining. Service: I have to say the service here was pretty ok. The waiters here were nice and attended to our requests even if they took a while. Food: I came to eat here during Restaurant Week. For those who don't know Restaurant Week, it is a week long event where you can eat a choice of appetizer, entrè, and dessert for a good fixed price at any participating restaurant. I ordered something like meat puffs, pho and a cheesecake. I was fond of the puffs which were crispy on the outside and soft n tasty on the inside. The cheesecake tasted pretty good also. As for the Pho, it was pretty ok. The broth was decent-a bit tasty and the noodles and meat were alright. It was fine, but I just have had better pho especially from NYC. Conclusion: I probably will come back from time to time since the location is convenient, the ambience is nice and the dishes I got last time such as the Pad Thai was a lot better. read more

In particular, the fried calamari is beyond bad. Don't order it. I always order green curry and it isn't terrible, but if you want great Thai food I would suggest driving past this place and finding Thai Thai restaurant instead. I am going to start this review by saying I LOVE Thai Time and have eaten there almost every week since the beginning of the semester. The spicy eggplant was my crack. Sadly, last week (December 15th) I ate there for my last time, and here is why: 1) First, a friend and I ordered all vegetable dishes and it was given to us with beef, shrimp, and chicken--wtf??? But none of us are vegetarian, and we already got home with the order, so we figured whatever. We ate it. 2) The fried rice we ordered had pieces of noodle in it! And barely any vegetables. And was crazy greasy. 3) The next day, I proceeded to vomit over 15 times and had a fever of 101+ for 3 freakin days.. This BS gave me the WORST food poisoning anyone could ever have. I've dined here quite a few times from when they opened a couple of years ago until now and the quality and consistency of their food has greatly declined. I got the drunken noodles and it tasted fine, with nothing special about the dish. The past couple of times I've been here my friends found hair in their dishes so I would question their sanitary measures as the cooks don't wear nets over their hair.
