Amazing Thai in Pocatello. We were passing by and wanted Thai. Picked this place because of the reviews. Would definitely recommend!

I thought this place was off the hook!!!! I was actually going somewhere else for dinner and parked in front of this restaurant. I thought "why not?" I had the veggie tempura and the spicy basil with chicken. I chose no rice and extra veggies which they were glad to accommodate. The spice was just right! The portion was generous too. I don't leave reviews often, but Thai Paradise was so outstanding that I needed to. My family of four went there while driving through Pocatello and had our minds blown by how tasty the food was and how quick the food was made considering that the owner was waiting our table and making all of our food. We still don't know how she got the food out to us so fast. It should be noted that the spice rating here is no joke. If you can't handle spice, get the lowest number possible (and don't complain if you ask for spice and it's too spicy). This will be our go-to place in Pocatello! read more

I love Thai food and am well aware it's spicy. My husband ordered House Curry and got a spice level of 1. I got Lard Nar and ordered .5 out of 5. Neither of us could eat much of the food because it was so spicy. The Lard Nar was odd, it was served as a soup. This is normally not a dish served in broth. Finally, the vegetables were raw. I like them crisp but there's nothing pleasant about crunchy sweet potatoes. We were the only people in the restaurant so I'm not sure why they didn't have time to properly cook the food. read more

I was in Pocatello to visit a farm in the area. I stopped by here for take out before heading to my hotel. We got the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. They forgot to give us utenils so I had to ask the hotel for some. Both dishes were not like any Pad Thai or Pad See Ew I've had before. The sauce on each was just bland and oily. The noodles for the pad see ew wasn't the right kind. Worst of all I asked for two star spicy and it was pretty flaming hot even compared to stuff you get in Thai town in LA. Like 3x as spicy as Srircha. I wouldn't come here again, but the other thai place in town wouldn't pick up the phone when we tried. read more

Today was my birthday and my husband was so wrong to choose this place even though, he was trying his best to make my BD special. Please think twice before dinning here. Amazing, fresh, authentic Thai cuisine. I was not expecting to find this in Pocatello. My family loved our meal which sampled a wide range of offerings- crab puffs to green bean ginger tofu. Everything was delicious and tasted so fresh. The veggies were crisp. The sauces were light and packed with flavor. They've worked very hard to make a paradise inside this Main St space. It's quirky and charming, and the food has great flavor. Can't wait to return. read more

I don't know if I should believe in second chances for restaurants. I honestly think that this place should go on Gordan Ramsey show Kitchen Nightmare because this place needs work. First of all.. 96 items? Not including drinks? Really? Second... Why was my party sat in the back of the restaurant whilst everyone else sat in the front? Is it because we look different? Third.. My party and I were served our food AND water after the party that came in and sat down 5 min after us. Uhm why. Why? Fourth.. the food. Omg the food. Kind of a joke tbh... The pho had spinach in it.. ok I could accept that because that's probably a Thai thing right. The meatballs were overcooked and tough. The peppered beef.. gross. There was so much oil, too much texture, and no flavor in the food. It was just spicy. That's it. Chinese people have this friend chili in oil sauce that they sell in stores.. what did they do? Dump the whole bottle in there? The drunken noodles? Oh my goodness.. they served us RAW SHRIMP . This lady came and told us that it's a different kind of shrimp and that it was fully cooked.. uhm what? WHAT? the shrimp was TRANSPARENT! THAT IS RAW . The rest of the dish was just the same as the peppered beef.. flavorless, too textured, the noodles overcooked.. just a no go. Overall I was just not pleased at all with this restaurant. I would have gotten a better review if they actually TRIED to redo our dish.. or actually tried to cook decent Thai food... But I was not impressed. Will I come back? Maybe after... Mm... Delish red curry, excellent (although different) Pad Thai, and REALLY good Tom Kha soup. The decor is cute although certain aspects of the restaurant feel cheap. The place is very clean but has a horrible smell from the old building's pipes. It does make for an unappealing experience and should be addressed. I have eaten here many times and every meal iv ordered has been so good. They do gluten free which is a big plus. You just have to understand when you come here that it's like your in her kitchen and it will go well. Sometimes the service can be slow if you go at a super peak time of a Saturday, but well worth the wait. A friend and I went here for a quick lunch. I had the chicken curry and she had the pho. Our service was prompt and friendly, no complaints there. The food is...ok. You get huge portions in a bowl, which partially makes up for the price you pay. However, my curry was mostly liquid making up that large portion. The flavor was also mostly heat, rather than the flavor of the spices. I ordered mine mild, and it definitely was made mild for Thai food, but I couldn't taste the curry spices, just heat. The pho we ordered was decently flavored, but also mostly water and noodle (even by pho standards very little else). In both of our dishes we could find only a few tiny pieces of meat. I'd gladly take smaller portions of higher quality dishes for the price. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. If you have ever tasted good Thai food, do not go to this place. We went here for lunch with my mom and we were not happy at all! We went in and the gal working there wasn't friendly at all. We ordered Tom Kha soup. She took a really long time to get her to take our orders, and took a really long time to make the food. When the food finally arrived, it didn't taste like any other Thai food. We have been to Thailand twice and dined at another Thai restaurant in Pocatello earlier this week and it was all good food, bit the soup we got here tasted nothing like it at this place. We couldn't even finish our food. Meanwhile we were no a lunch break and had an hour to eat. By this time, after asking the gal and letting her know that something is not right, she said that this is how it tastes and gave us the full bill. I asked for a discount because we weren't able to eat the soup, but she said that we ordered it and wouldn't discount our food. I just paid for the whole thing and we left. Worst Thai In Pocatello and surrounding areas. Worst Thai I've ever had. The first thing you notice when walking into the beautiful historical building is an overwhelming stench of sewer. Not appetizing at all. I like spicy food a lot and can take some heat (for an American) but I have had dishes here that were so spicy they were inedible. Food and heat ranges (1-5) are inconsistent, service takes forEVER and the servers can be rude. The nicest servers I had were children. Pretty sure in violation of some child labor laws. This is my favorite thai restaurant in town. Great Pho with lots of options on how spicy you like it. A great spot for boba tea ands vegetarian options. The only thai place that I can get steamed/ boiled tofu instead of fried. She's so sweet and always greets us by name. We were visiting Pocatello and wanted Pho. This was the first place that popped up on our map so we gave it a go. We should have trusted our gut instinct and noses when we walked in. As one Yelper already commented, "If I could give negative stars, I would." Was it a funky kitchen smell or an old building? Maybe a moldy HVAC system? Anyway, we were starving so we proceeded. Our service wasn't "terrible" like other reviews but it was very lackluster. The food: We ordered the potstickers and beef pho. The potstickers were burnt, very burnt and the potsticker wrappers were about 5x's thicker than I've ever experienced. Then our pho came out. A tragedy, no plate of veggies (bean sprouts, jalapeño, basil, lime...) to mix in as everything was already IN the bowl, perhaps this was intentional to cover up the fact there were only about 3 pieces of actual meat above the size of a quarter. I always like to smell the broth before I sip to see what I would like to add. I sniffed, NOTHING! There was absolutely no aroma! We had to ask for chili pepper, hoisin, chopsticks. The taste, bland, matched the smell. Then the most odd thing, it had spinach in it!?! Absolutely no basil or cilantro; so confusing, disappointing, and ultimately disgusting. You couldn't pay me money to return to this establishment. read more

As a group of six people, we went in for lunch. It was NOT busy. It was 1:00 and there was only one table of two. The owner came out and rudely told us " you should have called". Waved us over to a table, threw the menus on the table and walked away. We thought, whatever!! Then a table of two walked in , she took care of them , and again walked back in the kitchen. We sat there for awhile and realized for sure she was ignoring us. That will definitely be the last time she ignores us. I know there are different varieties of Pho but this was poorly executed meal. I Had to ask for hoisen sauce saracha sauce and chopsticks. I ordered the p5 the tripe was cut into big thick chunks was not chewy it was like it was over cooked same with most of the meat in the dish. I have been to many pho restaurants this one was lowest on the pole. I did not even finish my meal. Then the price was more than any other pho restaurant I have been to $13 for the large. I have asked people if they like or have had pho before. When they tell me that they don't like pho it baffles me I know now why. If I had eaten here first I would have had the same opinion. read more

I came here tonight to get some curry. We were greeted by an adult and then out of nowhere this 12 year old girl with two menus ran to a table. My mom and I looked at each other like, "What the heck?" We went and sat down. The only adult employee came to take our order. I got the Yellow Curry. It was way too spicy! I asked for it to have a spice level of ZERO! I could barely eat it. The Thai tea was good, though. Then the 12 year old girl came and gave us the to-go boxes and she was so snooty. She was arguing with my mom. Then out of nowhere this other young girl who was probably 10 showed up at a different table. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant. You could have heard a pin drop on the floor. The service sucked! And food was ok. I just got this weird feeling that something was not right. I mean, I remember when Thai Paradise opened...there was a line out the door and all of a sudden there is noone coming to get food. This place is sketchy. I definitely will not be returning. This place started off mediocre and quickly slid down to terrible. If I could give it negative stars, I would. The biggest problem is the service. It's unacceptably slow, and this does not vary depending on how many tables are dining. I say the service is the biggest problem, and that is after my girlfriend found a bug in her salad roll on our last (and final) visit. The wait staff didn't seemed concerned with this revelation. There was no apology, no offer for compensation, nothing. Perhaps having a front of the house manager would help! I've never seen one and have dined here many times. The bug was undoubtedly gross, but before discovering the intruder, we were complaining to each other about the bitter taste of the salad roll. It tasted like the bean sprouts had gone bad. Maybe that's what killed that bug. The food here is rather lackluster. The curries are far too viscous, and lack any depth of flavor. The rice is frequently dried out. I have received a comically small order of chicken satay. I frequently hear people say "it's pretty good, for Pocatello." Well, even for a town with plenty of bad servers bringing poor quality food that is over priced and under seasoned, this place is bad. Bad bad bad. Bad, even for Pocatello. If you can boil rice, I advise trying to learn to cook your own Thai food. Odds are you will learn to do it well before Thai Paradise does. read more

Pho was great! Thai burger was unseasoned and over-cooked. The hostess/cashier was unprofessional probably because of her age. The waitress was kind and explained that they are not good at cooking American food and they took it off the menu at one time, but demand brought it back. So, I thought I'd take the time to point out some clues of knowing you've happened upon legitimate Oriental cuisine. 1. Everyone working in the spot is of Asian descent 2. There's underage offspring working, going back and forth between playing on their iPad/iPod and bussing/hosting/etc. 3. There are doilies on something. This place is all of the above. Try the sweet potato curry. Also, they don't play around with spicy... You ask for "spicy" you get SPICY. I asked for extra veggies and they threw the whole produce section in. I think that the Thai food is really good and the ambiance is nice for Pocatello. SO many times, restaurants are afraid of "spice," calling 2.5-star heat 4 stars..not here. In fact, they do spice right here-- a 4 star heat will make you sweat without burning your mouth. Awesome if you like that kind of thing. I would agree that the service was not very good but that may be variable, and perhaps relegated to one or two bad waitresses. That said, the owners came out to meet us and seem like wonderful people. If you have the time, I'd recommend giving it a try. read more

This place had a strange setting. Confusing decorations (are we in an Italian place?), no music, and you could hear everything in the kitchen (including the employees listening to random videos on their phones.) The food was not quality. The chicken BBQ was very dry. The fried rice was bland. I do have to give credit that the broth of the Pho was nice, but I was annoyed all the add ons were already mixed in and I had to request limes. On top of all of this, this place was VERY overpriced. First off I had the Vietnamese pho at a Thai restaurant, so I plan to try the Thai food at another point. Overall the pho was fine, the broth was a bit sweeter than I'm used to or prefer. What I really didn't like was that the sprouts and jalapeños were mixed in when I was served, also no lime wedge or basil. I really prefer to season and add in the veggies myself - as is the case at every other pho spot I've been to. There were very few sprouts in my soup anyways and when I asked for more the server advised they were out/not good. She brought be some anyways and they were in fact brown. Disappointing. Also the beef was well cooked so some pieces were tough and others were tender. The pho wasn't bad per se, but not great. read more

This a great little secret in Old Town Pocatello. The atmosphere has an open richness. The food is delicious. The prices are affordable.

UPDATE: This place is great. But, from now on, we will turn around and leave if the owner's daughter is hosting. Everytime she has served us, we had to continually ask for a beverage (water), AFTER she served our food! She never asks what spice level we want, and never brings out the sauce with the pho, so the food is bland. Finally, her boyfriend in the corner distracts her so much that our food comes out cold. Disapointed, even with a second chance. Unfortunately, food was subpar last time, too. Best thai curry in Southeast Idaho. Don't expect perfect service. Decor and music will be weird.
