Thai Orchids Restaurant La Vista is a gem of a spot. Located in a strip mall at 84th & Giles, it's one of our go-tos in the area, and one of my favorite pad thai dishes in all of Omaha. Every plate is packed with flavor. You can tell they take their time & pour love into their food. Every time I've been, the service is so friendly and portions are very generous for The price. You will go home with leftovers, one meal is essentially two. We received complimentary lunch apps today. They have the volcano pots of soup, which I love (used to have a fav restaurant in Lincoln that did this). Right on time and very fresh. Pad Thai was great. Egg rolls were good. Met with a friendly smile when I picked up my food and felt welcomed.

Food is authentic and delicious. It's all made to order fresh not just sitting there so it does take awhile to get only problem is the long wait but totally worth it. Where to start.... The service was incredible. Greeted and seated right away despite being busy. Drink and food order was taken and delivered in a very reasonable time. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Now to the food...we ordered the pad Thai, pineapple fried rice (photo included), and cashew chicken. Every dish was cooked to perfection and authentic. Easily the best Thai restaurant in the state of Nebraska. Loaded portions, bountiful flavors, and welcoming employees is well suited for this Thai cuisine. They respect their customers as their hospitality, appreciation, and noticeably quick to help customers stands out as soon as you enter the premise. The only issue I can serve up is the price adjustments and changes over the last few years. I understand economics tend to shift, however, I miss my 12.95 Drunken Noodles. Anyway, their curries are top tier and extremely rich in taste. I significantly recommend this Thai cuisine! EDIT: Oh, and don't be afraid to test your spice level, 9-10 is my personal favorite; it's rich, flavorful, and not overwhelming when it comes to removing the flavor of the food. read more

We started with what I can only say you are the best fresh spring rolls I've ever had in Omaha. They were served with both sweet chili sauce and peanut sauce. I had the Tom Yum soup with chicken, which was delicious, spicy and full of flavor. My dining partner had Pad Thai with chicken. The portion was generous, covered in ground peanuts, cilantro, basil and was piping hot. Hot in temperature and in spice as well. Because it was lunch, we were also served complementary appetizers, which included a Fried spring roll and a veggie bar made from coconut, pumpkin flour and vegetables. Delicious!! We brought home enough to have lunch for the next day. Highly recommended if you want really great Thai food and excellent service. read more

My husband and I love this place. I had tonight the orange curry with spice level 3, my hubby had the yellow curry spice level 6. The orange curry is sweet. It has chicken,penuts,potatoes and onions along with cilantro. They always give you enough food for left overs. I have to say the orange curry is one of my favorite dishes. It's just so amazing. My hubby had the yellow curry. He says he likes to have the yellow and then after a while take a few bites of the orange. He says it's a mix of both worlds spicy and sweet. He never gets the orange curry. But always say I forget how good the orange is. Next time I'm gonna just tell him to order the orange. Normally it's not busy but tonight alot of people were eating. And alot of take out food. If you haven't tried this place and you like thai food. I highly recomend. Better yet too, it is a hole in the wall. Thai Orchids is definitely are go to for delicious Thai in the neighborhood. We love calling in our order then picking up or even dining in. It's a cute hole in the wall mom and pop with excellent service, ample parking, and wonderful portion sizes! My favorite dish here is the Thai green curry with chicken but I've also tried their garlic chicken. Another favorite thing we've done is asked our server to choose their favorite dish for us to try and that's been a fun way to try something new! I highly suggest this! I am so happy that this restaurant was able to make it through the pandemic. It was incredibly challenging for many restaurants and such a sad thing to see when many had to close. I look forward to eating here again soon as they will always be our go to for Thai food! read more

Thai Orchids is my favorite Thai place in Omaha if you include everything. I'm re-rating this restaurant to reflect my thoughts in general after having a few other Thai places. The service generally sucks and expect longish waits in regards to takeout. That being said, I still eat here frequently and the food is consistently good. I find that going right when the place opens for dinner service (around 5:00 p.m.) yields much better results than eating in the heat of dinner (6:00 or later). The thing that truly stands out for Thai Orchids (IMO) is the curry. Most Thai places have extremely watery curry and this really has an effect when you eat it over rice. My favorites are: drunken noodles/mango chicken/different curry options. The value is always great and the ratios always seem on point. If you're looking for a total restaurant experience (awesome service, sleek interiors, good drinks), I'm not sure if this is that. The food, however, is excellent in my experience. read more

Our go-to Thai restaurant! We have been ordering food to-go from this place for several years now. I highly recommend the garlic beef and mango sticky rice dessert! They serve big portions of the garlic beef which includes rice. It takes about 45 mins for to-go orders to be ready, and longer when they are busy. I came here for dinner and ordered Tom Yum Soup and Chicken Pad Thai. The tom yum soup was excellent, perfect blend of hot and sour flavors as true Tom yum should be. It was one of the best I have ever had and believe me I have tried a lot of different tom yum broths. The chicken pad thai was very good as well but not the best I have ever had. I would say it was just a bit too sweet/tangy (maybe a little too heavy on the tamarind sauce), but this is personal preference. You can customize spice level on all dishes. Service was very good. Update: The wait times for food here over the last six months have become atrocious for both dining in and take out- but mainly for take out. I called it in an hour before and they quoted me 20 mins. So as I arrived, I waited 40 mins for my take out food. That is just awful. This has happened 3 times in 6 months. Although this is the only decent tasting option for Thai food in Papillion/La Vista I rather just drive further to get better service and return here when things start turning around. Original Review: There aren't a lot of pickings for Thai in the Papillion/La Vista area, so Thai Orchards is a welcome sight to me for nearby business lunches during my work week in the area. The menu is pretty standard and has many of my favorites including pad thai, pad see ew, and the various curries. The interior is pretty basic family restaurant and the staff has always been polite. On a recent late lunch date, we walked in a 1:30 (they close at 2pm for a few hours before the dinner hour to prep and clean and rest), and I felt very hurried to get out of there, as they rushed us ordering, and then during our eating by bringing the check and asking if we needed boxes shortly after our food arrived. I would come in at least by 1pm if you do not like being rushed. I would certainly return. 1 app and 2 lunch specials that came with a deep fried veggie fritter and eggrolls was only $35 for 2 people. Otherwise, the spice scale is also very high. I got a 3 /10 on my green curry that was more like a 5, and my friend who got a 5 said it was easily a 7. Tread carefully if you do not like spicy food! read more

Overall I was pleased with my takeout from Thai orchids. As others have said, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired, but for takeout it really didn't matter. I did use the restroom, and ladies, don't be alarmed when you walk inside. The fan kicks on extremely loudly when you first walk in. I ordered for three of us and we got pad Thai, and tried the red and green curries. The pad Thai had good flavor but was a tiny bit dry and I like to taste a little bit more tamarind. The chicken red curry was nicely cooked and pretty tender, and the curry itself had a richly developed flavor. I was disappointed with the green curry, and I am almost 100% certain that it was made with green food coloring...this shade of Kelly green doesn't occur in nature. Less flavor than the red, which disappointed me since other yelpers have heralded the green curry. I'm not in La Vista very often, but I'm glad to have a Thai option when I'm visiting friends there. read more
