It was moderately busy for a weeknight and it's a little out of the way. I imagine that My Thai has its own regular patrons as they've certainly been around for several years. The names of the Special Dishes had me highly amused...you can check out the pic if you are curious! The food arrived within 5 mins for the BB and mine was 2 mins later. Talk about fast service! The coconut rice was nice and hot and the mains were reasonable in taste but not in price, mains from $22 onwards. The chillies in soy sauce was really nice and served in the cutest elephant bowl. The LLB and the Thai lemon iced tea was nicely priced at $4.50 and was pretty good. The staff were super polite and very efficient and I really appreciated that. I'd probably come again on somebody else's say so or a special occasion but not if I want a Thai meal at a median price. Having said that, this place probably would not give you a bad experience so it's worth a visit.

The food is good, the staff are lovely, and the prices are low. For some reason I always end up going there at odd times or on Sunday nights when it's very quiet and I can sit at a bench looking out onto Wickham Street and watch the world go by. On a busy night it's also fun and tends not to get as busy as some of the restaurants in the China Town mall, which is a relief. You can BYO beer and wine to keep things cheap. The restaurant isn't flashy, but the atmosphere is familiar and comfortable and the staff will do their best to make sure you enjoy your meal. The condiments on the tables are a bonus, and include chilli and crushed peanuts to enhance your meal the way you like it. A great little restaurant for a casual meal any night of the week.

Despite the fact that it's exclusively counter service, and the fitout is tacky and garish, the food really does speak for itself. Over many visits, I've sampled a wide spread of their dishes, with my favourites being the penang curry, the sai grog e san (a zany little sausage full of flavour) and the pad thai which always pleases. The best thing about this place is that it's BYO (I think technically wine only but the number of times I've bought beers here and have had no issues is many) so it's an ideal stop in for dinner when heading out in the valley, or as a destination in itself. Definitely a must for anybody that would describe themselves as even a mild fan of Thai cuisine.

My husband and I were on our own this time so we were able to order the food to our specific taste - Thai hot with less sugar. We had a tom yum prawn soup, som tum (green papaya salad) with seafood and a pad ped ka mhoo (stir fried pork leg in chilli paste) with a serve of sticky rice. The food was just sensational and it was a world away from our first visit. The staff were super friendly and helpful and BYO for $3.00 per head was a bonus!! We'll be back to try some different dishes!

Brilliant, whoever came up with those names, I love it. So when I was puttling around the northside of Brisbane, didn't even know that there was a suburb called Gaythorne by the way, and when my boyfriend now husband at the time told me, I actually asked him if he was joking. True story. So being fans of the Thai cuisine, I was out to search for a mean Pad Thai, my weakness. Always with chicken. Amazing Thai sits perfectly on the corner of Samford and Gaythorne road. The owner is this cute little Thai lady who really does do everything. There are a few wait staff sometimes, but the shop isn't that big and they can get away with just 1 or 2 extras on busy nights. The Money Bags in this place was my first experience. The water chestnuts, the minced chicken meat, the crunchy fresh ingredients wow. Then we had the Pad Thai, a Green Curry with Chicken and a Beef Stirfry. There is a difference between throwing things into a mess together and frying them at a high heat to throwing the ingredients at the right times to make the perfect flavour and combination. Amazing Thai do serve amazing food. The food tastes fresh, tastes quality and tastes like Thailand. You can usually get a table here, but on a busy night, try making a booking first as the restaurant only seats a small amount of people. True to their name, gold star all the way.

I like a restaurant where the menu kept simple and you don't have to second-guess your choices because there are a lot of similar meals. Little Thai does this and what they deliver is bang on. My favourites to order from here are the Satay Chicken skewers that have a thick sauce full of spice and not light on the peanuts and the MUSTsaman curry with its rich coconut sauce that is heavy on the meat and potatoes.
