I'm not from Dothan. I've been spoiled by living in cities that have world-class restaurants, so most ventures in dining out in the city usually leave me less than enthused. This is not the case with Thai House. This restaurant is so good that I frequently think it's out of place here. The food is always good, and the atmosphere is excellent. The servers are very attentive, and the place is immaculately clean. The Thai Basil Chicken is fantastic, and I can't stop myself from ordering the Crab Rangoons. Comparable to the better Thai restaurants in large cities! Food has authentic flavor and nice heat in the spices. Food tasted very fresh the taste and texture was very nice. I developed a love for Thai food while living in Hawaii for 3 years. Thai House in Dothan, Alabama (of all places) is THE best Thai food I've had. Ever. I've never had better service at a restaurant. The staff is so friendly and attentive without being over bearing. They even know us by name because we go there so often. My favorite dish is the Chicken Fever. The chicken is so tender and so flavorful. If we lived any closer to Dothan, I would eat there at least three times a week. My husband loves to order the chicken pad thai or the volcano chicken. Everything we have ever ordered has been delicious-you can't go wrong with just randomly selecting from the menu. The food is fresh, you can taste the quality of the ingredients, and the flavor is unbeatable. If you've never had Thai food or you're skeptical about finding a great Thai restaurant in southern Alabama, just go there and you will see why I've given this place 5 stars. Very authentic. We've been here several times. The food is pretty good; I've had better and I've had worse. The issue I we had was when we went about 2 months ago, they apparently had problems with their credit card processing machine, or so they said. They did not tell us this when we arrived nor did I see them tell anyone else. Instead, they waited until it was time to pay the bill and told us it was not working. Several people had to leave with their party behind and go find an ATM to pay the bill. Luckily, we had some personal checks which, after checking with the boss, they accepted. It is hard to believe any place would treat their customers like this. While we were finishing, I noticed multiple people entering and nothing being said about the problem with the machine. We went for Valentine's Day last night. The food was amazing and the service (even though it was nuts) was amazing as well. We started with golden bags (think Asian style samosa), moved on to thai basil chicken and pad thai, then we finished with banana spring rolls and ice cream. Thai house is always awesome, and their lunch specials are nice. You get an only slightly smaller entree with a bowl of soup and half an appetizer. Also, their hot teas come in elephant tea pots. I can't explain how much I love this place enough. In a chain restaurant loving city Thai house is a breath of fresh air. read more

I was visiting my sister at Fort Rucker and she kept raving about this Thai place. I come from the Northwest and in my neighborhood we have 6 Thai restaurants in a 4 block radius, all pretty good, so I wasn't expecting much from an Alabama Thai House. And I have to say, the Thai House blew me away. I don't know how this gem of a restaurant landed in Dothan, but it is hands-down the best Thai food I have ever eaten in the US. The currys were served in minature gold chafing dishes to keep the curry warm, the grilled salmon was perfectly prepared, and the wait staff was charming. They even prepared custom iced Thai green tea drinks for us that were fantastic. And they remembered my sister and provided a special celebratory graduation dessert for us which was wonderful. Highly recommend this place if you are traveling through the area. read more

was in the backwoods of alabama and went in. great thai food. i had the thai rolls fried, they were greasy..bleh. i followed that with a classic, red curry chicken..it was delicious. i thought it was kinda awkward to have grape tomatoes and actual grapes in it, but it was delicious nevertheless. if they're reading this review..its not grapes, grape tomatoes and pineapple..its bell peppers, both colors, bamboo shoots, and lots of basil.. great nevertheless read more

We stayed in Dothan on our way back from Fort Myers, FL due to bad weather in the area north of here. We had had enough seafood during the 2 month in Florida and wanted something different. Not far from our hotel we found the Thai House. It had some good reviews but still our expectations of Thai in Alabama.............? The place is in a little strip mall. The atmosphere is typical American Thai. NIce and comfortable seating in a fairly small space. On this Friday night at 6:30 there were only about 3 other tables full. We ordered a rangoon appetizers which was crispy and excellent. Our Chicken Fever was just right with a spice that was not overwhelming. The Volcano Chicken was also superb. We love Thai and this place was one of the best we have experienced. Our server was friendly, efficient and attentive. We really enjoyed our visit to the Thai House. I have eaten at the Thai House several times and always look forward to it when I am in town visiting. My family and I have NEVER been disappointed until last Saturday night. We used a local delivery service to have the food delivered, since we were only about 5 minutes away, assuming it wouldn't be cold with such a short distance to go. I ordered two mild dishes, which came out SPICY!, and one medium-spiced dish, which came with NO spice. I ordered the lemongrass chicken, one of the more expensive items on the menu (just to venture away from my usual), and it was just a small chicken breast with the texture of one of those high-bouncing rubber balls in a bubblegum machine. I had to saw through it. The calamari was completely cold, and the rest of my family was struggling to eat their meals, since it was my treat. This is one of my mother's favorite restaurants. It was her birthday meal, so I wanted to treat her without having to leave the house in bad weather and having to get out very young great grandchildren. Maybe the lesson is to eat in and not have it delivered. The food was definitely a different quality than what we are used to there. The staff has always been great, friendly, and accommodating, and the food delicious. I didn't want to write a negative review for those reasons, but the closest Thai restaurant to where I live is about 50 minutes away, and when I pass by, I get food to go, drive almost an hour home, and the food is still hot and delicious, so something was off. So disappointing that my mother didn't get a good birthday meal. read more

This Thai place is awesome, and I don't just mean relative to L.A. I always measure a Thai place by its Pad Thai and its green curry, both of which were awesome here.
