The vibes as you walk into this restaurant are really giving. It was a bit weird and cool at the same time. I love that even though it was lunch time they really set the mood with lit candles and they had food warmers at every table. The food: I had yellow curry it was good but definitely spicy. It did have one chili next to it on the menu but I just wasn't expecting that. The tea although good was a tea bag and I prefer when it's loose leaf. My husband got the Thai tea and crispy duck. Found this place in the middle of Mainz, thought it looked cute and stopped by for some curry. Ordered the green curry with chicken. It came on top of a little candle heater that keeps the dish warm and a huge bowl of white rice. The curry did not have that much veggie as I would've liked. The flavor was Ok as I have tasted better curry. Overall, fine for a quick bite. Nothing special. read more

just because a restaurant has descent taste it's not getting any further stars from me, sorry, thai country. I've been here twice, same waitress lady. - your service sucks. - it destroys our dining experience. - you can't even remember who ordered which cocktail (there's hardly 3 tables filled on monday dinner time) - you completely mixed up the take-away orders... now i am home with my other buddy's unfinished food. - get your sh*t together... please, service more efficiently (taking empty plates, unfinished food, glasses... what a mess!!!) - perhaps a gratitude wouldn't hurt, i'm not asking for fake smile. I recommend this place only for the taste; it's descent, not the best. but here in mainz, this is as good as it gets, and they dont' care about the service. but I'll promise you, their service will make your curry taste like something else. read more

We checked out several different Thai restaurants before choosing this one. The menu is very extensive and we chose to go with the larb as an appetizer and the green curry as the main course accompanied by yummy cocktails. Had a delicious dinner here of a Red Curry Soup with Chicken which came with rice. Aside from being very tasty, what made it so good was that the rice came in a bowl with a lid and the bowl of soup was placed over a candle, so even my last bites of food were as warm as the first. Nice touch. BEWARE--When I first sat down the waitress asked what I would like to drink. I told her tap water. She brought me an 8 oz glass of water. It was not poured from a bottle or carafe. Part way through my meal I asked for a water refill, which she promptly brought. My bill had a €5.60 charge for my tap water! If I hadn't felt ripped by my water charge I would have given Thai Country 5 stars. read more

Had a few co workers eat here the night prior so went in having high expectations. From the start our waitress was extremely rude and impatient, even though the restaurant was pretty empty, barely checked on us and instead stood around doing nothing. Ordered pretty basic items. The soup was just coconut milk with nothing but raw veggies and a few pieces of chicken, the fish tasted fishy like it was old, yellow curry had no flavor and bland. Asked for some spices and the spices given tasted old. When the waitress returned we told her the food did not taste right, and she just took the plates then stood at the bar. I went up to the bar and she said cash or credit right away and I asked to speak to the manager. After 5 minutes the manager stood in the middle of the restaurant and said we don't have to pay and to leave and never come back. Instead of making a further scene I asked her to please come to the table to speak with us. She came and blamed everything on the fact that it is all made bland because we are in Germany. She said she tasted our food and it tasted fine. Argued the whole time and said if we wanted good Thai food to go to Thailand. Needless to say we left. I went with my colleague from China for lunch. He got curry, I got curry, we were both very pleased. I have been to many Thai places over the years, but I would have to say, this one is the best. Food was so good and the price was very reasonable. Will go back next time I am in town. read more

to begin this rating, let me tell you first, the food is above average. for the price, you're going to have a great lunch/dinner here if you are craving for decent thai food. that being said, unfortunately, what ruins even the finest tasting thai curry experience, is the experience with the staffs... i like the taste here, so i gave it another chance before i review. 1 star might be harsh, but at the end, it really ruins any tasty meal with a bad service. my waitress was the same lady i had lunch with before, except this time, it was dinner. During lunch time, i had assume maybe she was too busy.. but during my second visit here on a monday dinner time, the place was nearly empty, and service was still as slow as American DMV. not only that, when we had decided to take back all the left overs home from generous portion (which is great!) our waitress has mixed all of them up so when I arrived home, I am left with another person's left over i just had dinner with. there were only maximum of 3 tables filled, it's really not hard to attempt to appear nice, or give a bit of a smile, or gratitude for ordering there, I'm not going to blame the waitress's poor memory (she had also mixed up our drinks, and we have ordered drinks that sounded exclusive to this place, so when we received it, we had no idea what we were drinking) at a restaurant, good meal is REALLY a must... then the rating comes from experience, vibe, and service.
