Very friendly staff great cocktails and great venue despite the awful singing of the staff for those celebrating birthdays.

They have a huge menu but that doesn't mean they scrimp on taste. The food comes in generous portions and is lovely. A nice surprise is the Italian language lessons in the loos. The walls are covered in Italian photos that look like they come out of any Scorcese movie and they also have they huge wine cabinets.

The menu is the standard fare but they do have some good offers and meal deals which make the cost quite reasonable. Service usually ok, held a very helpful server onve when I was there for lucnhc with my baby. Toilets are clean and the restaurant is kept clean and tidy. There are some tables outside which is great for a summer evening. The food is tasty, hot and generous, I cynically don't expect much more than that from a chain! I have to admit though that their pudding can be rather nice! Handy if you have just been shopping at the Mallwhich is just next door or planning on going to the cinema.

A big black sign sits above the big open widows, but with barely any writing or branding. You'd really have to look for it if you didn't know it was there. Inside the decor is dark with some weird and wonderful stuff on the wall. They had loud house/electronic music on which I loved. The atmosphere was really casual but really buzzy! I've never ordered ribs at a restaurant before. I generally don't think you get enough meat and I'm not a big fan of BBQ sauce. But something felt different in the Urban Standard and I felt compelled to order the half rack. So order I did! And it was one of the most enjoyable meals I've had in ages! The ribs are ridiculously meaty, lots of meat on top as well as in between each rib. The sauce was nice and spicy and not too thick that there was more on your fingers than on the meat! I really liked the fact they gave you a side pot of the same sauce for the chips! The chips were also really good and for a around £9 it was a really decent feed! I had a couple of gin and tonics which was Bombay Safire and tonic. Nothing out if the ordinary. They do have a little micro brewery and if really like to try the ales, I just wasn't in the mood. Next time! This is definitely one of the hottest new places in Gloucester Road. It's a bit different to anywhere else and I applaud them for that! If they keep the same music at the same volume, I'll definitely be a regular!

You are now greeted with a very hip establishment with bench seats and local arty farty works adorning the walls. They have a very interesting but expensive drinks selection. Including some very fine Orchard Pig cider £4.20 a bottle. But tonight for me was about the grub. I opted for a burger with cheese. And it wern't all that bad. But it wern't as good as Start The Bus ! I like my burgers with plenty on juice and for me this was just a tiny bit dry. Others opted for the Pulled Pork Mac and cheese which was pretty good, and decent sized portions. Overall it was a nice plesent dining experience. But then again i've had these in the cafe at tesco, so I wont personally be hurrying back.

Based in the middle of Gloucester road, it has a fair bit of competition. In fact, over the last few years there have been quite a few burgers restaurants open in Bristol, but Atomic Burger offer a really different, fun experience. First things first; the restaurant is comic book themed. Everything from the walls, floor, menu and windows is covered in marvel-style comic book pictures. That obviously makes it a great place to take kids, but you'll also find lots of couples, groups and students. It's probably not the best place for a business lunch. Me and my girlfriend went for the first time yesterday and it was great to sit outside and make the most of the sun. We sat on the same table as another couple and got chatting to them. They had been to Atomic Burger MANY times and were on a quest to try every burger on the menu. If you do then you get 20% off for 12 months. Just ask for a sticker after your meal and if you collect them all you get the life discount. The couple both had cocktails that had a bottle of Sol larger upside down in the glass - I didn't care what it was, I wanted one! After ordering "whatever they've got" it turned out to be a 'largerita' which was SO good! The Sol slowly tops up your margarita as you drink - genius! I'm a sucker for a gimmick! The menu is big and actually a little bit confusing. I went with the LLAP: beef burger, pulled chicken, blue cheese sauce, Louisiana hot sauce and spring onion. It was amazing! I had the garlic and chilli fries which were also really good. The best thing for me though, was the beavers jalapeño mustard. Mmmm, beavers jalapeño muuuustard!! A must try if you like spicy food. We left, met some friends at another bar, and then went back to Atomic Burger to show them the largeritas. I'm not sure if I'll eat there enough times to get the 20% life discount, but I'll definitely be back!

The food isn't exactly diet friendly, but who goes to a burger joint for salad? There's absolutely loads of choice so you can pretty much have anything you want on top of your burger, and you have the choice of chicken, beef or veggie. All the burgers are named after famous characters and the menu looks great. There's some crazy drinks on there too - from bacon milkshakes to lageritas (a personal fave!) My boyfriend ordered the hot chicken wings recently. He was warned they were extremely hot but he can handle spice so he went for it anyway! What followed was hilarious! One bite and he was sweating, dizzy, couldn't feel his lips and not feeling so clever anymore. We since found out they are made with three of the hottest chillies on earth! They had over a million Scoville units! They do takeaway if you don't want to sit in (or you've got someone you can send to pick it up and bring it to you in bed with a hangover!) They also do a mean hotdog! I had a hotdog with red onions, American cheese sauce and pulled pork the other day and it was yummy! It's quite a lot of money for what it is (£10ish a burger) but you get a naughty, messy meal that's delicious! I took my 12 year old nephew and he loved it because it's something a bit different! My 30 yr old mates also love it for the same reason.

You can also have the continental option which is £2.99, this includes yoghurts, lots of different cereals, fruit, toast, pancakes, crumpets & muffins. This is help yourself and again you can have as much as you want. Not only is the price great the food is always consistently nice. This is definitely the best breakfast I have had in a long time. My girlfriend and I were on our way to one of the other bars on Gloucester road, but couldn't walk passed Bootleger as it looked and sounded really cool from outside. The open front, tables on the street and electro-swing music were a perfect combo to draw us in. It is pretty unbelievable what they've done with the place. From being a pretty terrible club that was mainly used for birthday and drum and bass parties - it is unrecognisable and really cool! It is a really narrow space but every inch has been used really well. The staff were really friendly and you could tell try we're pretty excited to be working in the new bar on such an infamous party street! The draught options are pretty basic but good enough. They have a couple of really nice pale ales that they were happy to let me 'try before I buy'. We shared a Mac n cheese which was good. I'd say a little more seasoning was needed; it way lacking a little umph! But we demolished it in seconds! I'm really interested to try the rest of the menu coz it sounded great, if not a little familiar. Bristol seems to a breeding ground for pulled pork and American style dining/menus at the moment! All in all a great place and an incredible turn around from its former self. They should be proud and I can see them doing it well. It was busy enough when we were there, so it looks promising!

And it's back with BIG food. Although pulled pork is 'in' at the moment, the Hobgoblin do it very well. Huge rolls filled with Mexican marinated pork with slaw and pickles on the side. As well as the big pulled pork rolls they do mountain sized burgers that look deliciously threatening; cheese rolling down the sides and buns shining from the grease. But the best thing on the menu is the 'Dirty, dirty fries' which were 'born out of a hangover'. The Dirty, dirty fries are a huge mix of fries, pulled pork, melted cheese and spicy sauces. They really are amazing! The Hobgoblin has a food challenge called 'The Kraken'. I can't remember everything that's on it but it involves lots of meat, dirty fries and chicken wings. I don't think anyone has completed it within the hour yet. Their pulled pork is smoked on site, burgers homemade and meat locally sourced from a Gloucester Road butcher. Probably bought with Bristol pounds and wrapped in an evening post, too! The decor is casual and the bar serves your normal lagers, beers, ciders, cocktails and shots. While the emphasis is on the food at the Hobgoblin, you'll still find a few groups just there for drinks. This isn't a first date place but it is a great place to meet mates and tuck into great, dirty food.
