This was one of, if not, the best local pub in Basildon, but thanks to the smoking ban (and lack of musical entertainment) it is now practically empty compared to how it used to be just over 16 months ago. Having said the negative I would like to point out the positive, although it is non-smoking, there is sufficient areas to allow smokers to indulge in their nictotine fix, including a gazebo, tables and chairs and a patio heater. The staff are very pleasant and the drinks are very reasonably priced, I haven't tried the menu, but I think they now sell burgers. This pub has a very friendly atmosphere, it is frequented by both young and old alike, I have been visiting this pub on and off since the early 90's and have never witnessed any trouble. If only the music/entertainment was re-instated, I am sure this pub would once again be thriving.

Untidy bar area but seems to get busy, the pub is in the middle of a major housing estate. A whole cross section of the worlds good and bad in there. The DJ plays what he like so fu*k the rest of us. This could be a nice place, sort the staff out, clear up the mess behind the bar, get a cleaner in more than once a month for the toilets, take the boxing ball machine out, bar the undesirables that think that selling drugs in the bar area is "cool". Saying all the above it was very busy but it is within walking distance for most in there.
