Was then quoted $165 for the service. I explained that I had called and was told the cost would basically be $120ish. Was told it was $165. They seemed unconcerned with what I had said. We reluctantly had the service done. After the work was done. A tech came in letting us know our rear shocks were leaking. And that they could replace them for $475. We left and I was steaming. We drove to another reputable business to check on the rear shocks. Plus asking for just a comparable price for the service we just had done. They showed me on the computer different stages of shock failure for our car. Ours were no where near needing to be replaced. Then when I asked about a comparable cost for services provided us. Their cost was around 55% of the cost I had paid. Later in the day A&O sent me an email asking me to rate them. SERIOULY?

Initially, I had two other mechanics look at my car and one wanted $2,700 just for the AC/heat repair! Mine needed that and balljoints & arms replaced + few more issues so the total spent was $5K but was very fair and included a 24 month or 24K miles warranty on the work completed. JCA are the first mechanics I've ever dealt with that included in the diagnosis, mphotos of every issue + returned the old parts to me. As it turns out, the previous mechanic in another state didn't perform most of the work of which I paid over $2500; he hasn't returned my four phone calls and three email inquiries for copies of my invoices, most of which were paid by cash. . .things that make ya go "hmmmm".... Everybody at John Chak Automotive is professional, efficient and friendly. I dealt with Tyler the most - 5 Stars, too! - and they performed the needed repairs in a timely manner. Good, courteous and quick service but very high parts prices…read more I recently hepled out a friend by paying an invoice for car repair at John Chaks auto but was suprised at the amount considering the work that was done. On reviewing the bill I found that the reason for the high bill was the extremely high cost of parts even though all the parts used were after-market, not oem. They charged $984 for two control arms which can be purchased retail for as low as $60 and up to $140 retail, and $178 for 4 NGK spark plugs which retail between $7 and $10 each. (Prices from Rock Auto) Recognizing that they need a mark-up on parts prices to cover overhead and profit, this level of mark-up seems excessive, On questioning no real explanation was given for the high prices charged except some language about the waranty. When I asked for the manufacturer and quality of the after market parts and for the terms of the warranty I received no reply. My friend did get her car diagnosed and repaired correctly and promptlyy and the service was courteous however the veryhigh cost of parts lowers the rating to 3 stars.

It is not often you meet people this nice. We were on our way to a friend's place near Bonham when a tire on our trailer blew out. Being close to an exit, we slowly made our way off US 82 looking for a safe place to change the flat. We pulled over into an extra wide shoulder area on US 69. The guys at Bells Quality AutoCare came across US 69 to check on us and had us pull over into their parking area. They quickly changed our flat for us and even aired up the trailer tires to boot! They would not accept anything for their trouble... they just said that they hoped that someone would help them out if they were in need of help. Negatives: Coffee bar is Uber unwelcoming and the coffee was old and burnt. 100's of old magazines Oil change and wash took 2 hours and I was the only one there. Lady sitting at counter unwelcoming and on cell phone. TV not on No decorations for holidays, or music or festive So, without sounding spoiled, you don't have to have a bougie coffee bar or a big screen television. You don't have to have fall decorations.But you should be welcoming and maybe have a welcoming atmosphere. Car sales here may not be a problem, but knowing a dealership will try to make you comfortable while you have no choice but to wait on service, means the world. Maybe what I am sensing is a lack of pride in this workplace.

is every automotive repair business in my home town denison, texas shady.??..its sad to say, but…read morewhen you have too many bad repair shops it makes it hard for the honest shops to make it...maybe its not the shop just a untrained employe...what would you get out of loosening the trans bolt .or not putting plug back..they don't do trans rebuilds?just to fix basic automotive issues !!..people must just take it and say the next guy will say somthn ....wtf?? a female friend takes her caddillac to cambels garage she first had to make a appointment a month out before he could get to it.( what a waist of time)......i thought that was odd because not a single car was outside,  like in line to be "looked at".... ok before the car was taken to cambels garage i ran my diagnostic scanner and it had a misfire in #5 ...spark plug or coil pk issue..and code for pcv system stopped up...these are the only 2 codes until i take to cambels...she takes her car to him...he says the motors blown??...(yet she drove it home) and that sombody broke a spark plug and it fell in the motor???? what? there was no broken plug when she left....the plugs are at the back with just a couple inches to work with ....its not a easy task ....so not being equiped with the tools.. i recomend cambels when the car came back its pulling codes p0141 p... p 0122 p0300 p0300 p.  the car is way worse than when she took it. how anything could have "fell in the motor"?.......broke a plug and instead of fixing it he put it back like somone els did it didnt even hook up the #5 coil pack....just said screw it motors blown !?..broke the plug and somethin dropped into the cylinder......and let her drive it home.. they was thinkin she was some dumb old lady.... we knew what was wrong and nobody but whoever tried to get the plug out broke the plug and the coil pack then jus layed it back like it hasnt been touched. next time just say you screwed it up...you dont say the motors blown n let her drive off. when one of your employees or you permanently screw sombodys motor up take responsibility for your incompetence...i wouldnt recomend this place to fix a anything.... they will screw your car up n lie about doing any of the damage i should put a reverse mechanics lien against the shop im sure they do alot of that if somone was to audit
