Clean restrooms. Unique and wondrous structures. They remind me of a Mosque. The Fountain and small ponds are nice, although currently they are working on the ponds, but you can see promise of something good there. They do have a tourist and information center open between 0800 and 5pm. Plenty of open spaces to wander and marvel at the beauty of the landscaping and architecture. First time in years I could actually stop and check this amazing place out. It is definitely worth a stop. read more

Wow! This place is wonderful as far as rest areas and welcome centers go. How is it that in 17 years, I never stopped there before. There's tile, and gardens (a fish pond), tons of truck and RV parking, and it's quiet. read more

Bienvenidos al Tejas! Welcome to Texas! This magnificent travel center is located just inside Texas, outside of Laredo along I-35. I-35 is one of America's major north/south highways, going all the way from Laredo to Minnesota! It's a long drive. This travel center is styled after a Mexican villa. It's all done in stone, stucco, and red clay Saltillo tile. They have a bunch of lagunas (lagoons), palm trees, and of course- restrooms! The restrooms are also done in a Mexican villa motif, and extremely clean and spacious. It's a good place to stop off when traveling through the area. It's probably one of the most beautifully designed rest stops I've ever seen. I especially appreciate the public art here. My favorite is the huge metal outline of the shape of Texas with the sun setting on Laredo. They have all six flags of Texas flying outside, which is a cool touch. Inside, they have a travel info center, with maps and brochures of things to do around Texas, not just in Laredo. Be sure to pick up some of the free "Don't Mess with Texas" bumper stickers, and a giant, Texas sized road map. They have soda and snack machines here too. read more

Very elaborate building and landscaping ..I've never seen a travel center like this. Very picturesque!! Restrooms for the ladies weren't very clean but the sights made up for that. read more
