There are several different COE parks on Lake Bardwell which is just outside the little town of Ennis. We stayed at the Waxahachie Creek Park. With a National Parks card for seniors, this park is just $9 a night. It's hard to beat that. Plus, it was on a lake with a view and the sites were nice sized without a neighbor right at your door. The sites in our section were all pull-thrus. A couple might be a little difficult for a big rig but most were easy in and easy out. Electricity and water are at each site with a dump on the way out. Driving down highway 34 the driveway to the park is hard to recognize to begin with. Two of us missed it. It looks like a driveway so be careful. We loved the park and would definitely return if in the area again.

We enjoyed watching the ducks, taking photos of the sunset, spotting a few, small wildflowers, checking out the fitness court, and enjoying an out-and-back walk on the Ivan D Goodwin trail. With plenty of locals out enjoying the nice weather and the Ennis water tower in the background, we got a nice taste of Ennis on this outing that we struggled to find elsewhere (due to our lack of planning, closures for flooding, and Sunday hours). We would certainly return to this park and recommend it to friends and family.

I am not sure when they started because I don't remember them being out there last year, but they have jet ski rentals. The rates are much cheaper compared to most other places in the dallas/Ftw area. I believe the place is called BNB Jet Ski Rental - a fairly small set up. The guy we dealt with knew all about the skis (we were first timers) Gave us a few pointers and tips. he was a cool enough dude - took good care of us,The skis ran great, they aren't the old crappy ones some people are renting out, they are pretty new skis. We rented one for the whole day. Our group had a great time!! We even made reservations to again in a few weeks. I don't know what Joseph D (the guy with a "bad" review of this place), was talking about - sometimes people have things to do. The rental place isn't very big, so I am sure they don't have very many employess like most business do. Advice to Joseph D - pick up the phone before you go somewhere next time!!
