As soon as I walked in, I had a feeling that this was going to be much better than I would expect for a strip mall restaurant. We ordered the pork pot stickers, lamb dry hotpot, and the karage ramen. The pot stickers were perfectly cooked, crispy on the bottom, good chew, and great flavor. The lamb dry hotpot was a kingly meal. The presentation was impressive and the exquisite variety of ingredients made this a meal to remember. The karage ramen was lackluster, I would wager their other ramen options are better. The atmosphere was pretty good and the service was excellent. Overall, if I lived in Waxahachie, I would be a regular here.

It's that type of hole in the wall place that has you knowing it's going to be something. It served a wide variety of Asian dishes from Vietnamese to Japanese to Chinese to Thai, but I wager at its core it's Chinese. We started with the pork potstickers, and they were fantastic. It's hard to find places that cook the outside correctly with crisp on the bottom and chew on top, but Fun did it perfectly. My bf got the lamb dry hot pot, and it looked stellar. He got a lot of food for the money and really enjoyed it. I would recommend if you could handle spice. I tried the Chicken Karaage Ramen, and found it lacking. It tasted like eating pure grease, and though the Karaage was alright, it was weighed down heavily by the broth. The noodles were noticeably homemade, though. Overall, we would recommend coming here.

Decision made, 54th Street for dinner it is. Arriving at the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the hostesses and shown to our table. Ava, our bubbly server, greeted us and took our drink orders. It always takes us a while to decide since there is SO many delectable items on 54th Street's menu. My wife decided on the Chicken Avocado Grill, with a side of fries. I opted for a half rack of baby back ribs with beans and Cole slaw. Miss Reba, our diva dog at home, will be VERY happy when her daddy brings home bones. After a short wait, Ava came by to let up know out entrees were almost ready. We told her we were in no rush at all, which we weren't. All the sudden one of the kitchen expeditors delivered our entrees. Oh yummy, everything looked wonderful. She loves 54th Street's fries. So the French fries were the first to be tasted. I saw an ugly face and wondered what was wrong. I tasted one of the fries and made the same ugly face. The was WAY TOO much salt on the fries. They were inedible. Fortunately one of the managers was close by and I summoned him to our table. My wife explained what the issue was with the fries. Since the French fries were on a separate plate, the manager asked if he could taste them. Yep, ugly face, way over seasoned. He said he'd be right back. He took the plate back to the kitchen. Shortly, he arrived back at our table with a new plate of fries and a cup of 54th Street's special seasoning on the side. Everything solved and a happy wife. My wife's chicken sandwich were delicious as well as my baby back ribs and sides. Thank you Ava, the management, and the whole staff of 54th Street for a wonderful visit. We'll see all again soon.
