With oversight from a couple of staff from the original Carlton north store, they are grilling (medium rare!) burgers, frying up sweet potato fries, and swilling American sodas out in the sticks. And, though it has only been five days, the quality seems equal to the original shop. Quality produce, prepared efficiently and well, and served on enameled tin plates. The burgers are big. The aptly named big burger is a whole meal in itself. But there are sides to choose from as well: sweet potato fries, normal potato fries, chilli cheese fries for those who like to turn their chips into their main meal. And a pretty epic selection of American and Mexican soft drinks, along side Phoenix juices and fizzy offerings. The ambiance is nice, going with the polished-concrete-and-exposed-bulb aesthetic of the original shop - which, in the outer suburbs, isn't overdone yet. I'm looking forward to the weekly specials menu being up, and trying some of the spectacular-looking cakes TL;DR: visit. The food is great. And it is 58,000times better than any take away in surrounding suburbs.

Doubly excited that they have an entire wall devoted hot sauces and condiments for said creations. Triply excited that, despite their name sake, there are vegetarian options on the menu. But just because it's vegetarian, it makes no pretense that it's healthy. That fried tofu sandwich comes topped with vegetarian chilli and gooey, guilty-pleasure American cheese. Plus the option to have it all seated on top of a big pile of fries. You can save money for more beer at the Catfish bar on Mondays, when the cheesesteaks are only $8 or $10 with fries. Order and pick-up at the back hatch. Then add a little heat with things like the chipotle bbq sauce and tomatillo & jalapeno, or just play it safe and stick with the basic tomato sauce & yellow mustard. There is no way you're walking out hungry after one of these.

Ok yeh, Maccas does Brioche now but do they do it with amazing cut meats or southern fried chicken? I was confused as to what to call this place as it serves up an array of Americana type dishes with interesting add ons. What you can say is Dexter pulls off a very unusual offering while still being casual enough to not feel you need a PhD to understand the menu. I ordered the Big Dexter. Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket.... wow it was yum. I usually do the half way swap with the wife so we can experience more of the menu but there was no hope for this one. This was accompanied by Shoe String Fries finished with a BBQ Rub. .... Hold up. I can't forget... I actually started with a can of Tecate and Burnt Siracha Corn. Which was a great introduction to a lazy Sunday at Dexter. Can't wait to go back! Apparently the meat donuts are in high demand

The cafe sits beautifully and brightly on a corner on Tucker Road, Bentleigh. Inside is a gorgeous fun bright and airy space replete with lots of warm pink color. It's so cute. There's plenty of room inside though and an outside area too. Overall it's just a great fun space with a terrific feel good factor. It has a lovely sound system and good music as well. It all works wonderfully well. We received a lovely warm greeting and were directed to a cute table by the wall. There's a best practice choice on offer of still or sparkling water. We love our sparkling. We started with Golden Gaytime milkshake. This is a seriously fun smooth, silky sweet offering with a lovely crumbed top. I love a golden gaytime ice cream and I seriously enjoyed this lovely milkshake. We also loved the chocolate peanut butter milkshake too. Both milkshakes were fantastic with great flavours and texture. Oh bliss. The food took a little while to come out but when it did gosh it was worth a little wait. I had the Pastrami Benedict on advice from our server. I have rarely made a wiser choice of meal. This is a fantastic dish and I fawned over every mouthful. It had a gorgeous bernaise sauce. I loved it. The eggs were done perfectly. Lovely pickle and saikraught as well. The pastrami was superb too. I added bacon as a side but didn't need to. I couldn't fault the dish. It was excellent. The world's most beautiful woman had the dippy eggs. She had to. We'd read so much about the dish and it sounded so fun and very tasty. And so it was. She can be a harsh critic at times but she too seriously loved this dish. It's so tasty. It's well thought through and composed. It's entertaining in its own right. Just a great dish all round. We finished with two gorgeous coffees. You certainly don't just have to go to the inner city anymore for great coffee. They know exactly what they're doing here. The coffees were magnificent. We had lovely service throughout here. Our servers were lovely guys and highly professional. A credit to the craft. This is a fantastic cafe. On everything we saw today, Good Times Milk Bar is right up there with the best Melbourne brunch experiences. It's one of those must do Melbourne experiences.
