Finally after countless drives passed L'Hotel Gitan over the years, I decided to try it. I've been…read moreto Bistro Gitan and so it made sense to come here eventually too. I do think I like it MORE than Bistro Gitan. From the outside, you could be forgiven for thinking this was a pub, rather than an elevated casual french restaurant. Inside it's really nice and right off the bat the waiters and staff were friendly and greeted everyone warmly. We sat at a table right near the open kitchen, and it was fun to watch the chefs preparing the food. Practically everything we ordered was delicious. I had the Tuna Crudo which was soooo good, and the Duck for main (which was the only negative of the night) with the Gratin Dauphinois and for dessert (yes, three courses since the food was so good), the Bomb Alaska, which was a special of the day. The negative for the duck was that the two of us that ordered it, found it to be very gristly, fatty and hard to chew. I just couldn't face another bite. But the entree, the rest of the main and the dessert were incredible, and the service was fantastic. Food came out all together in one hit (something I love about a good restaurant), and they didn't clear the plates until everyone at the table had finished (also top service) and they knew who ordered which dish when it came out. Prices are a teeny on the high side, but I guess most places are these days. I would DEFINITELY come back here again. Parking is easy, nice ambience, great food and I highly recommend it!

We ordered a couple of entrees the ASPARAGUS, FRESH PEA SALAD 15 and GRILLED BABY OCTOPUS 14 For mains we had the DEEP SEA ROCKLING COLBERT 34, FRAGRANT FARMED BARRAMUNDI 39 and the ZUCCHINI FLOWERS. The plates were beautifully presented. The staff were wonderful. You must try.

This is another one of the delightful hidden pubs that has a decent range of tap beers. Mind you,…read moreto get to the bar you have to walk through the bistro, but there is a nice beer garden out the back, which does close up early, no doubt due to the fact that people live around here. The service is pretty good though, and as I mentioned, there are some rather nice beers on tap as well. It was a nice pub.

The place really didn't seem to be one of those pubs that I felt all that comfortable in. I have since revisited it a couple of times but still don't particularly like it, especially since it was a thirty minute walk from where I used to live. It is basically one of those Zagame restaurants so expect there to be this huge, flashy, family restaurant, and a pokies room and sports bar out the back. While the balcony does have a decent view of Edwardes Lake, it wasn't enough to make it one of those pubs that I would visit for a quiet beer - especially since there were much better pubs that were easier to reach.

Actually, it is a pretty cool pub, and while I've only been here a couple of times, I have to say that I do actually quite like the place. In fact, as a pub it is pretty cool. Yeah, even though the beer garden is attached to the sports bar, as a pub it is still pretty cool.

Maybe it just had something to do with not actually thinking that this place is a pub, despite the name clearly indicating that it is. However it looks like the deal is no longer, and instead Tuesday is $15 Porterhouse steak night. Cant complain - steak for $15 is reasonable. I got mine with mash which was nice and a bowl of stemed vegies (I swear I asked for Chips but perhaps the diet gods made the lass behind the counter mis-hear). The service is not the best (Downstairs - pub area) during my visit... but it is a lower cost venue so sometimes you cant expect too much. Steak was great however medium rare came out more rare so I didnt eat the middle part... I guess you get what you pay for eh!

When they left it felt like the place was empty but it wasn't, just one large loud table who we could still hear as they walked down the street. It's a fun place though I guess.

Despite wanting…read moreto come to this pub I usually, without fail, always ended up at the Napier and wondered why I couldn't find the rooftop deck. Well, it turned out that this was the pub that I was looking for (damn Jedi mind-tricks). Anyway, I really like this pub. It's not hugely crowded and has a number of rooms where you are set yourself up, including this really cool lounge area under the stairs. They also have a pretty cool rooftop deck, though it doesn't afford the views that some other decks offer. It is quite relaxed and I probably should come here more often than I do, but it is a little out of my way (not that that is really an excuse).
