1 STAR After years…read morewith First Choice, we are officially leaving the practice, and unfortunately, one staff member is the reason. Every time I call with a concern, the nurse who calls me back, Christy, consistently has an extremely rude and dismissive demeanor. This is not an isolated incident or a misunderstanding. It has happened repeatedly over the years. She does not listen. She interrupts, dismisses concerns, and speaks to parents in a way that makes them feel ignorant or as though they have no right to question anything regarding their own child. When I try to explain the situation, instead of actually listening and addressing the concern, the conversation becomes an argument about why she is right and I am wrong. I work in the medical field myself, so I understand policies, procedures, and limitations. I am not expecting anyone to break a policy for me. I am expecting basic communication, professionalism, and compassion. There is a HUGE difference between telling a parent, "This is our policy, and here is why," and arguing with them until they simply give up. Unfortunately, my experiences with Christy have repeatedly been the latter. When a parent calls a pediatric office, they are calling because something concerning is happening with their child. They should not be made to feel like a nuisance for asking questions or advocating for their child. You don't have to agree with a parent to treat them with respect. What is especially disappointing is that we have been with this practice for years. I have continued giving chances and overlooking these interactions, but there comes a point where enough is enough. I should NEVER have anxiety about calling my child's doctor's office because I already know the person calling me back is going to be rude, dismissive, and argumentative. At this point, Christy's communication and lack of compassion have completely destroyed my trust in this practice. We are switching pediatric practices because I refuse to continue putting myself in a position where I feel like I cannot comfortably advocate for my children. First Choice really needs to take a serious look at how parent concerns are being handled and how Christy communicates with families. Medical knowledge and knowing office policy mean very little if you cannot communicate with patients and parents respectfully. We deserved better, and our children deserve a practice where their parents feel HEARD.

The only negative I can say about Progressive Children's Clinic is that one of the ladies currently working the counter is ok in person but can sound very grumpy and inconvenienced over the phone If you call in to change an appointment date. Another sweet lady makes up for it though. I have a 10-year-old son and a 8-year-old daughter. We've been using Progressive Children's Clinic since my son was a toddler and I've always been very happy with the attention and care the healthcare professionals have shown us. You're unlikely to ever see an actual doctor. We always see physicians assistants but they are all highly qualified and far better than many doctors at other places. This is the third location they've been at since we've been using them and I like it the best. They're right at the corner of Fairfield Ave. and Olive St. They are very thorough with their examinations and assessments and they always make sure that we leave with a full understanding of everything such as what tests they are running, what they're checking for, and when we should hear about results. I am always so amazed at how kind and considerate all the health care workers are here! They are awesome with kids and always make them feel comfortable and secure. They do accept Medicaid which I know many places do not. I highly recommend Progressive Children's Clinic!

She also mentioned that if I was unhappy, I could wait or seek care elsewhere. I reported this incident to Ryan, but he dismissed my concerns and attempted to justify the nurse's behavior. Furthermore, I overheard the nurse making derogatory comments about me from behind the window, claiming that I always had problems. Despite having known Dr. Scott for over 20 years, this experience was unacceptable, and I will not return to this practice. I hope Dr. Scott can find a more suitable environment to provide care for his patients.

Once they told me they close early on Fridays, then another day they said they don't. Take forever to sign off on anything. Have to be called multiple times to sign paperwork. Tried to schedule with them 4 times and never got an appointment or saw anyone. This is where CHILDREN are supposed to be cared for? We're headed back to our old doctor's office. It's in another town, but at least when I call them they answer and I can speak to someone right away and get my children seen right away. I don't care how far I have to drive, it's still faster than this place
