If you can't trust the team and you can't trust the dentist. I will continue to make this my Mission to drive this publicly please reach out to me if you have any questionsTitle: **** DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST **** - Zero Integrity or Accountability I have been a faithful patient of Dr. Sanchez for 14 years, but the service and communication have completely collapsed over the last 18 months. If you value a professional who honors their word and respects their clients, look elsewhere. My wife's Invisalign treatment was the first red flag; it took four attempts over three months just to get an answer on a delay. My experience was the breaking point. In late October, I was told I needed a re-scan. I followed up diligently--calling twice in November, twice in December, and twice in January. Every single time, I was promised a call back that same day. Every single time, they failed to call. After 90 days of their silence, I was told my Invisalign "window" had expired--a deadline never once mentioned to me. Despite this being a direct result of their own administrative failure and lack of follow-through, Dr. Sanchez refused to honor the commitments his team made to me. He told me that if I wanted to continue, I would have to pay for the entire process all over again. In my 50-year career in customer-facing roles, I have learned one absolute truth: Integrity is everything. When a team gives their word, a leader honors it. Dr. Sanchez, however, is comfortable making empty promises and hiding behind "expired windows" rather than taking accountability for his staff's failures. It is deeply disappointing to terminate a 14-year relationship, but I cannot patronize a business that lacks the basic integrity to stand by its word. Dr. Sanchez and his team truly do not understand what "Customer Experience" means. They make promises they have no intention of keeping. Think twice before trusting them with your care or your money.

From scheduling the first appointment to the surgery to the post-op care, I cannot say enough about how the great the care is / was. Calling or emailing with questions, insurance needs etc. they have always had time for me and providing help / assistance. For my situation I had loss of range of motion occurring / progressing for a long time and did not know what was the cause. Then a light switch turned and my condition degraded into bone on bone pain from hip arthritis. I then went to a local "specialist" in Corpus Christi as I live hear there. After I determined that I did not want to have surgery in Corpus Christi, I waited 3 years after the bone on bone condition started, dreading what I thought the surgery and the recovery would be. When I finally had enough, I did research on the best specialist I could find, the most experienced, the best reviews, searching in Houston and San Antonio as we live in South Texas, and I chose and I am grateful I found Dr. Broome & San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists. I chose the Tissue sparing method of hip replacement, Anterior hip replacement. I was concerned as everyone I expect would be about pain and recovery. I expected bone pain just because of thinking what would occur during the surgery. For me, there was no "bone pain" with the surgery, as they told me there usually is not. With me waiting 3 years, my hip ball degraded & wore down about 3/4", this also affected my back. For my surgery this required stretching the muscles to allow making the new hip be the same length as the non arthritic hip. This was the only pain I experienced, muscle pain. All aspects of the hip replacement, scheduling, appointments, pre-op, surgery and post op have been great, beyond what I ever could have expected. Also the Doctor's owned Hospital, where I had my surgery, South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital is Great, and that will be in another review. Doctor Broome has an app for recovery therapy or I can go to regular therapy. The app is what I used. Daily exercises that change regimen each progressing week and this is getting my range of motion back. Before surgery, I had a tough time of reaching my right foot, putting on shoes and socks, bathing, etc., putting on pants, picking up things off of the floor, carrying things that were heavy, kneeling down, standing, walking, when walking and my arm position, crossing my leg, the arthritic hip affecting my back and many other things. The surgery has allowed me to tie my shoes, carry things that are heavy (I am progressing on this with exercises) , cross my legs, reach my feet, even just sitting down in my recliner at home by not having to straighten my right leg and basically fall back into my chair and so many more things be able to do that I have not been able to do for more than 3 years. I will say, I could not have made a better choice than Doctor Broome and San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists and his staff. If you are waiting for the surgery, or searching for the Right Doctor, Look no further as they are the Best in my opinion. I currently am in 1 month post op and improving daily.

If you read reviews for medical providers, you'll see a common theme: doctors were great, office…read morestaff was horrible. That was certainly the case here. I have nothing but good things to say about Drs. Gallagher, Amis, and Barron. But the office manager left such a bad taste in my mouth I'll likely seek care elsewhere if I need another visit. One benefit of insurance is not just that insurance often pays part of the bill, but it actually lowers the total cost of the bill, because of the "contracted rates" agreement between the insurer and doctor. Our insurance is weak and doesn't cover office visits, meaning we don't technically qualify for contracted rates, but all our other providers give us the contracted rates anyway (probably reasoning that if the doctor were willing to receive $x as payment from an insurer, they'd be willing to receive the same amount from us). However, the office manager at ATX Ortho has seemingly decided on her own that ATX Ortho won't give the contracted rates, and doesn't care that that makes ATX Ortho stand alone in that regard. The initial conversation about my wife's bill went something like this: - - - - - OFFICE MGR: Your insurance doesn't cover office visits, so you don't get the contracted rate. ME: I know our insurance doesn't cover office visits, but all our other providers give the contracted rates for office visits, even though office visits aren't covered there, either. OFFICE MGR: But your insurance doesn't cover office visits! (groan) I went round and round on this, all I could get out of her was "Your insurance doesn't cover office visits!" - - - - - Today I saw Dr. Amis for myself and explained the problem with my wife's bill, including how all our other providers give the contracted rates even though they don't have to, and showed him the EOB with the Total Charged vs. Repriced amounts ($393.50 vs. $292.05). He didn't really want to know all the details (which is normal, he wants to leave administration to office staff so he can practice medicine), but said he'd be happy to receive the $292.05 repriced amount and directed the receptionist to honor that rate. So I paid, and asked her to submit my own office visit through insurance the same way. Then after I got home, the office mgr. called and again railed at me that our insurance doesn't cover office visits and she wouldn't give us the contracted rates. I protested that Dr. Amis had said we could get those rates, and she said that was just for my wife. I said I was sure that Dr. Amis meant it to apply to my bill also. She countered that my wife was "lucky" to have gotten the contracted rate at ATX Ortho (at other offices, we don't need "luck" to get the contracted rate, they just give it to us), and that she talked to Dr. Amis and he said to not give the contracted rate. I think she either didn't actually talk to him, or she did and misled him, more on that later. I asked her: "To be clear, if ATX Ortho doesn't give the contracted rate, it will be alone among all our various doctors' offices for not giving that rate, is this really the way you want to handle it?" She said yes. Since the decision to not honor the contracted rates is so unusual, I asked her where that policy was coming from, from her, or from the practice owners? Because it really seemed like it was coming from her. She said she talked to both Drs. Amis and Gallagher and it was their decision. I asked, when you presented the information to them, did you explain that ALL OUR OTHER PROVIDERS GIVE US THE CONTRACTED RATES? She admitted that she did not. Bingo. So, the doctors, who are not versed in the intricacies of insurance/billing, understandably deferred to their administrative staff, but their staff misled them by not giving them the whole story. I do want to point out that the *other* office staff has always been nice and helpful (e.g., Amber).
