We also offer Adaptive Karate classes and Private lessons for Delayed Development & Special Needs Students; Self Defense classes for all types of groups, special events or individuals.
Age appropriate classes develop character values & skills for success at home, at school or at work, and in the dojo. Adults also find stress relief and a way to stay young.
History
Established in 2002.
TIKK Denton was opened in 2002 by husband & wife Tony & Tina Palos. It is a branch location of TIKK, which was established in 1991in Lewisville by Hanshi Robert Kristensen, 9th degree. Both Tony & Tina are 6th Degree Black Belts, World Champion & Hall of Fame award winners. They have experienced the benefits of traditional karate and their goal is to help all ages of students succeed in life thru the study of Isshinryu Karate.
Meet the Business Owner: Tony and Tina P.
After taking a class in Isshinryu Karate taught by a college friend a a local rec center in Corpus Christi in1985, Tony & Tina moved to Denton to attend UNT and major in Jazz Studies. They started training again in 1998 with Hanshi Robert Kristensen in Coppell with the goal of earning black belts and getting in shape. In 2002, Tony started Denton dojo as part of testing for Black Belt. From one location of six students, they have grown to two locations with classes for students from 5 years to over 50 years old. They offer specialized classes for different age groups, and all levels of adaptive students. Still active as jazz musicians in D/FW area, they find karate balances their life in many ways. They enjoy passing on all the benefits of traditional martial arts to students and also aim to give back to the community with free self defense events as well as.
