I was quoted approximately $4,000 and was told my entire case would be handled. I provided organized records, mileage logs, income documents, and supporting information through the client portal early in the process. After that, communication became extremely difficult. For months, I repeatedly called, texted, and followed up asking for updates. Many calls went unanswered, messages were ignored for long stretches of time, and I was frequently told things like "I'm busy right now" or "I'm out of the office, I'll call you back," only to hear nothing further. When I was finally able to reach him, it was often late in the evening and I was repeatedly asked to resend information that had already been uploaded previously. I have included screenshots showing the pattern of communication and lack of response over time. One major red flag for me was being asked to have my wife sign a power of attorney that was backdated roughly 20 years, despite the fact that she is only 36 years old. By December 2025 -- roughly eight months after I originally hired him -- the returns were finally "ready" to submit. When I asked about payment options with the IRS, I was told I would "have to" pay well over $1,000 per month. When I explained that was not financially realistic for my family, I was essentially told I had no other options. I also asked about representation before the IRS and was told I could either handle the calls myself or pay additional money for him to do it, but that the outcome would supposedly be the same either way. At that point, I lost confidence in the process. I ultimately reviewed and corrected portions of the returns myself and submitted them directly to the IRS by mail. Some returns contained errors that required correction after rejection notices were received. After educating myself on the IRS process and speaking directly with IRS representatives, I learned there were in fact multiple compliance and payment-plan options available depending on financial circumstances. My experience was extremely frustrating, drawn out, expensive, and ultimately left me feeling like I had to finish the process myself after paying thousands of dollars for professional help. Use caution and do your research before hiring this company.

Day of the appointment, again, there for 30 min, John said I would owe 11K in taxes and recommend an LLC to not have to pay those taxes, I was confused because I indeed already had an LLC , and clearly someone missed all my paperwork I input on their organizer. John took a look at my LLC and said "Nevermind, I'm gonna have to redo all this" I left Extremely confused. I called twice and all they could say was " We will let you know if we need anything from you" WHAT!?! WEEKS LATER I get an email stating taxes are done. I was charged 600 for personal, again, charged for an hour that I was not there for, then, 1,300 for business taxes, AND 800 for someone to go through my quickbooks. I had requested 1 HOUR of Quickbooks Organizing. No acknowledgment to the mess up and almost putting me 11K in Debt! No Communication to what is going on. I knew I needed help with my taxes this year. I'd moved, I'd had a regular job, but also a contract…read morejob - basically, I had no idea what I was doing when it came time to file. I'd researched some places on Yelp and called several "real" accountant firms, including the one that says they'll give you a free consultation, but they couldn't help me file my return on time ...or in one case, even bother return my call. They said they'd help me file an extension, but it was MARCH, yes, kind of late in the game, but early March and I still had over a month before taxes were due. I'd held off on calling Ameritax because I'd used places like H&R Block before and they were crazy expensive and you got charged for filing federal and then for state and then for filling in the interest you paid on your student loans and I didn't want to get gouged at a chain again. Finally I called just because I knew I needed help and they did have a good review, so I was hopeful that it would work out. Kevin did return my call and in a timely manner and we scheduled an appointment. They're even open on Saturdays, so it made it easy to find time. Kevin was great and very helpful. He didn't balk at the fact that I'd had several W2s with me plus a 1099 contract form. He didn't bat an eye at filing an out of state return. He also helped me write off moving expenses with relevant questions and student loan interest without any superficial charge. In addition, he was very fast and I was extremely happy with the results. I was afraid with the contract work, that I'd end up owing money this year, but it turns out that this wasn't the case. When all was said and done, I got a good return and I owed Ameritax no more than I expected to pay, although my service ran about twice as much as the normal tax prep cost because of the 1099. I told Kevin about the other tax places being unable to help me file on time and he couldn't believe it, which is funny, because I couldn't either. I'm glad that they were, though because I'm very happy with Kevin and Ameritax and with the level of service he provided. He's got one very loyal customer in the years to come.
