This is the only currency exchange in Houston, and they exchange 80 different currencies. There is something wrong with the website, so I couldn't find any information online. I called, and they quickly confirmed that they do buy Philippine Pesos. The exchange was fast and simple. They measure coins by weight instead of taking them at face value. I got USD back at 88% of the market value minus a $2 exchange fee. I do wish they advertised this information, like the fees and coins, at the booth. I am very happy this place exists because I was worried I would just be stuck with a foreign currency forever. read more

I came here because I have some foreign currency that my own bank will not take and I had a good experience here. The person who helped me that day, her name is Elizabeth. She was very knowledgeable able the foreign currency I had on me and was able to confirm if they accept it or not and explain about the rate and the fee. Then I had to wait until 12PM when they are official open for business. By the time I came back there was already an official queue line form on the side. I didn't wait long for my turn. After she count the money and confirm how much USD I will get back and wait for my confirmation before she proceed with the exchange. No ID needed and she count out the cash back to me and then hand it to me. Very professional worker, Elizabeth. She also gave me a coupon for a discount fees for next time. read more

Fast cheap and easy - I needed Swedish currency fast and they delivered. I would recommend to anyone

This place is a fucking scam. They state they take debit cards, then you wait in a line and then they tell you they don't take debit cards from Capital One, which is a literal bank. Avoid at all costs. read more

Simple transaction, no fuss. It is easily marked on the mall map. They have a wide selection of currency to select from.

Quick efficient and friendly. Rates are competitive and location is fairly accessible

I have a son that is very interested in collecting money from different countries and each time we visit your location the employees are always so helpful and speak directly to my son and show him all the different notes he's interested in and even shows us some we didn't think about and get. I love their excitement to show him some pretty ones! We will definitely be coming back! read more

Good exchange rate. Used them before going to Costa Rica and Europe. Employees were very knowledgeable

Great service, friendly clerk, very easily understandable. I will go here again! I can recommend it

Actually went to one at The Woodlands Mall..no way to check in btw on Yelp. The gentleman that helped us was super friendly. Needed British Pounds was able to get exactly what we needed. Also was able to use the yelp discount which was very helpful!!! Looking forward to hopefully use the services again! read more

Rip off. Just go to the country and use a credit card. Over the phone they made it sound like they had a competitive exchange rate. Totally false read more

They kindly helped me with my currency exchange and it was quick and easy. Additionally, the line was not too long of a wait.

Super fast courtesy transaction came in @ 12:55 waited in line for 5 min and was out by 1:20!!!! Lealoa super sweet and in top of what she needed to do to make things quick and easy for me read more

Far far too slow service. Do not come here if you're in a rush. Check in on Yelp to optimize your experience and get your discount.

I was helped by two young ladies, Jovan and Leola. They were so pleasant and had the best customer service I will be returning in the future. read more

Couldn't find the location, hard to locate and when I did it took too long to get the money. Probably will not return to that location again. read more

I was helped by Miss Kayla. Amazing service. She answered all my questions and provided fast service.

Waited in line for over 15-minutes for one customer in front of me with no acknowledgement from employee on additional time needed to complete. Sorry, how long should it take to exchange money. Second employee did nothing to help me. read more

A simple euro purchase took 15 minutes as the lady pecked on her computer so long I thought I was at the airport counter changing a ticket. The big NO for me was when she licked her finger to start counting the money. Thankfully, she put it in an envelope and it is now sitting in a container with Clorox wipes for 24 hours. BAAAD exchange rate plus a $3 fee. My bad for waiting too long and going through my bank. read more

Texas Currency Exchange provided Mexican Peso (Other Currencies Provided as well) at a pretty good rate that was higher, than what it was when we visited Mexico, of course your rate will vary, so call to get the latest exchange rate. Anyways I tried to find a location that could provide some last minute Foreign Exchange for Mexican Peso and this was a great place to get some. It's located inside Memorial City Mall near the Food Court at the Welcome Desk. They provided excellent service and the lady at the time was very nice and friendly. Also, they charge a Low transfer fee, typically ($1 to $3), but of course contact them to verify how much the fee will be for the amount you want. Hopefully this will help the next time you need some Forex. read more

It's very convenient place, located near the food court. Pretty affordable and competitive rates. The fees charged for paying with card are not crazy! Recommend if you need foreign currency. Definitely better than our bank rates. read more

Fair prices and answered all the questions both me and my husband had. We will stop here again when we need money for vacation

This place is horrible. The staff are incompetent. I was in line 5 minutes before they opened with five people in front of me and it took over an hour to get to the counter for help. Everyone order your international currency from your bank in advance of your trip and let's put these people in the unemployment line. read more

We came the day before our trip, service was quick and super helpful, our bank was closed and the airports info wasn't clear. This location was super easy! Definitely worth checking in for the discount. read more

I have never had to wait so long at any currency exchange place I have ever used. Usually they're just in and out but this place somehow has a massive line and take a lot of time just to exchange your currency, which seems to be a really simple transaction. read more

The exchange rates for the €uros and the UK£, at Texas currency exchange, were more expensive than what Bank of America offered, so I ended up buying them from the bank. Besides there are not many locations in Houston. read more

This place is pathetic! The person who we bought the pesos from stated that when we returned, all we need to do is show the receipt and they will buy back the pesos at the rate we purchased. We showed the receipt and were told since we did not purchase the "same rate" add-on, they would not be able to buy back at our purchased rate. I told the representative that we were only told to bring the receipt and that we were never told to purchase any add-ons. He proceeded to inform us that this was there NEW process and he cannot do anything since the person who worked there when we purchased the pesos was no longer employed there. This company is absolutely pathetic and I would definitely stay away from them! read more

They have two locations near me. The location in Frisco is closed due to staffing problems. They did have another location in Plano, Willow Bend Mall, they directed me to, stating they were open. Got there and I'm standing in line. Two people behind the counter. One person at the counter. The clerk finally tells me that after they take care of the one person in front of me that rather than take care of the one other person in line (ME), they would be going to lunch. What? You call that customer service? I call it complete disservice. Just an awful attitude, but typical of today's apathetic organizations. Would not use this place if the paid me, at this point. Just horrible. read more

Line was long but they have great customer service was great. I approve. Much better than the exchange places in the airport.

Drive to the airport or go to memorial city mall on a Sunday afternoon? Both sound like horrible ideas. Exchange was easy. 50% off $5 fee w/ yelp check in. 4560 Sek worth 536 us was exchanged for 501. They wouldn't accept euro coins, well they did but only in weight. They offered 36 cents for $8 worth of Euro coins. read more

The gentleman at the counter took almost an hour to help 3 customers .People were getting aggravated because it was taking so long .I waited almost an hour to get an exchange and I was the 3 customer there. They should have more people on. Sunday because the wait is unacceptable. read more

Very helpful, friendly staff. The service was less than 5 minutes. I recommend if you need before travelling!

Good location in the middle of the mall. Friendly service. If you are selling currency, the staff has to take photos of both sides of your bills by computer and this process takes time. Wait time was about 15 minutes to get to my transaction. read more

Great and friendly service!! Quick exchange and open late enough to help me out last minute.

Fast, simple, and if you do a yelp check in, they take half the exchange fee away. Reasonable rates and the exchange rate was better than the airport. It is kind of hard to find, but walk toward the food court and look for the round information desk. It is AT the information desk. read more

The transaction was simple. I parked between the Cinemark and JCPenney. I walked through the food court and it was in the middle before the Helzberg Diamond. It doesn't have a sign. It was when I saw the exchange rates on one of the walls that I asked if this is the location to do exchanges. The rates were on the side facing the Jewelry store and not the food court. It's gray with running water. I'm sure they were able to afford it with the fees. I didn't get a discount for being a veteran or for Yelp. There are currently no deals either. I think the extra $3 fee should not be included, considering how much we are paying for the money. I got $200 euros and paid $240.36. Either way, the experience was okay. The person I went to was new, so she was uncomfortable and appeared nervous. ********************************************************************************************************** Update: After my trip, I went back because I needed to exchange euros to dollars. After doing some shopping around, Texas Currency Exchange is the cheapest location. Unfortunately for me, I do not bank with a bank that does currency exchange. Your best bet is doing the exchange with your bank. If you are like me and your bank does not buy back the international money then this would be the best place to go. Initially, I was annoyed, because there were 3 workers and only one person working. The line was long and moving slowly. Finally one of the workers decided to open his lane and I was helped. Word of advice, they will only buy coins by weight. It seems it is not common to buy back coins, so this is done as a courtesy. It is unfortunate because Euros has 1 and 2 euro coins. So despite the fact that with the exchange 1 euro should be $1.19., instead you only get about $0.60. So use all your coins in that country. read more

Texas Currency Exchange - Currency Exchange Near Me - Houston, Texas

OK, so I needed some currency for my visit to Beijing and Hong Kong (more about that later), so I took my fellow Yelpers' advice and went to the Texas Currency Exchange. Short version: A very professional, courteous business where you can get 50% off the commission fee if you mention that you saw it on Yelp. WOO HOO, it's as good as it gets! ;-) Long version: I needed both PRC Yuan (the currency of China) and some HK Dollars, and I didn't want to get screwed at the airport, so I came here the weekend before my trip. TCE is located inside of Memorial City Mall, and it's located right near Macy's if that's any assistance. The Mall is so big that it will take you quite a hike to get to TCE if you park on the wrong side of the Mall, so be warned. The sales clerks were polite to a fault. They explained the commission structure ($5 fee, but you get half off if you mention that you saw it on Yelp), and the exchange rates were comparable to the floating rates you see on XE.com if you have the app. NOTE: If you are a frequent traveler to other countries, get the XE.com app. It's free and you can see if any foreign or domestic bank is trying to screw you on the exchange rates. But I digress. I was able to get both the PRC Yuan and HK Dollars at a VERY good rate, and when I came back I was able to exchange them back to US Dollars at another very good rate. Also, be warned - if you have any foreign coins, they won't take them. I always leave the coins behind at my departure airport as tips. Just FYI. Anyway, you can bet your bottom dollar (pun intended) that I'll be making frequent use of TCE this summer as I travel to Mexico and Europe. Bon voyage! ;-) read more

i used this establishment to change currency for a trip to Mexico thinking it is a safer option I get to Mexico and some of the currency that was given to me was in fact not real and i find this out after trying to pay for a Taxi. my hotel checks all the money for me and shows me which ones were real and which ones were fake. embarrassed we continue on with our trip , i come back to Houston and go back to TX currency exchange and they proceed to tell me they did not give me the money after waiting for 2 hours they tell me well corporate is closed you have to wait till Monday. here comes Wednesday i get a call and the rude girl proceeds to tell me the same thing that they don't give out counterfeit money and maybe they can look at the $500 pesos and maybe give me money for that, i paid real money for them to give me counterfeit money and then treat me like i am trying to get over them. at the end i took the loss but never again. change your money in Mexico they wont screw you over read more

The lady at the counter was very nice and helpful. Mention Yelp and get 50% off on the fee. However, purchasing Euros with Dollars we still ended up paying a 6.7% premium over current official exchange rate. Much higher than using an ATM overseas but still better than the airport exchange counter. read more
