I came here because I have some foreign currency that my own bank will not take and I had a good experience here. The person who helped me that day, her name is Elizabeth. She was very knowledgeable able the foreign currency I had on me and was able to confirm if they accept it or not and explain about the rate and the fee. Then I had to wait until 12PM when they are official open for business. By the time I came back there was already an official queue line form on the side. I didn't wait long for my turn. After she count the money and confirm how much USD I will get back and wait for my confirmation before she proceed with the exchange. A simple euro purchase took 15 minutes as the lady pecked on her computer so long I thought I was at the airport counter changing a ticket. The big NO for me was when she licked her finger to start counting the money. Thankfully, she put it in an envelope and it is now sitting in a container with Clorox wipes for 24 hours. Texas Currency Exchange provided Mexican Peso (Other Currencies Provided as well) at a pretty good rate that was higher, than what it was when we visited Mexico, of course your rate will vary, so call to get the latest exchange rate. Anyways I tried to find a location that could provide some last minute Foreign Exchange for Mexican Peso and this was a great place to get some. It's located inside Memorial City Mall near the Food Court at the Welcome Desk. They provided excellent service and the lady at the time was very nice and friendly. Also, they charge a Low transfer fee, typically ($1 to $3), but of course contact them to verify how much the fee will be for the amount you want. Hopefully this will help the next time you need some Forex. read more

This place is pathetic! The person who we bought the pesos from stated that when we returned, all we need to do is show the receipt and they will buy back the pesos at the rate we purchased. We showed the receipt and were told since we did not purchase the "same rate" add-on, they would not be able to buy back at our purchased rate. I told the representative that we were only told to bring the receipt and that we were never told to purchase any add-ons. He proceeded to inform us that this was there NEW process and he cannot do anything since the person who worked there when we purchased the pesos was no longer employed there. They have two locations near me. The location in Frisco is closed due to staffing problems. They did have another location in Plano, Willow Bend Mall, they directed me to, stating they were open. Got there and I'm standing in line. Two people behind the counter. One person at the counter. The clerk finally tells me that after they take care of the one person in front of me that rather than take care of the one other person in line (ME), they would be going to lunch. What? i used this establishment to change currency for a trip to Mexico thinking it is a safer option I get to Mexico and some of the currency that was given to me was in fact not real and i find this out after trying to pay for a Taxi. my hotel checks all the money for me and shows me which ones were real and which ones were fake. embarrassed we continue on with our trip , i come back to Houston and go back to TX currency exchange and they proceed to tell me they did not give me the money after waiting for 2 hours they tell me well corporate is closed you have to wait till Monday. here comes Wednesday i get a call and the rude girl proceeds to tell me the same thing that they don't give out counterfeit money and maybe they can look at the $500 pesos and maybe give me money for that, i paid real money for them to give me counterfeit money and then treat me like i am trying to get over them. at the end i took the loss but never again. change your money in Mexico they wont screw you over read more

The transaction was simple. I parked between the Cinemark and JCPenney. I walked through the food court and it was in the middle before the Helzberg Diamond. It doesn't have a sign. It was when I saw the exchange rates on one of the walls that I asked if this is the location to do exchanges. The rates were on the side facing the Jewelry store and not the food court. It's gray with running water. I'm sure they were able to afford it with the fees. I didn't get a discount for being a veteran or for Yelp. There are currently no deals either. I think the extra $3 fee should not be included, considering how much we are paying for the money. I got $200 euros and paid $240.36. Either way, the experience was okay. The person I went to was new, so she was uncomfortable and appeared nervous. ********************************************************************************************************** Update: After my trip, I went back because I needed to exchange euros to dollars. After doing some shopping around, Texas Currency Exchange is the cheapest location. Unfortunately for me, I do not bank with a bank that does currency exchange. Your best bet is doing the exchange with your bank. If you are like me and your bank does not buy back the international money then this would be the best place to go. Initially, I was annoyed, because there were 3 workers and only one person working. The line was long and moving slowly. Finally one of the workers decided to open his lane and I was helped. Word of advice, they will only buy coins by weight. It seems it is not common to buy back coins, so this is done as a courtesy. It is unfortunate because Euros has 1 and 2 euro coins. OK, so I needed some currency for my visit to Beijing and Hong Kong (more about that later), so I took my fellow Yelpers' advice and went to the Texas Currency Exchange. Short version: A very professional, courteous business where you can get 50% off the commission fee if you mention that you saw it on Yelp. WOO HOO, it's as good as it gets! ;-) Long version: I needed both PRC Yuan (the currency of China) and some HK Dollars, and I didn't want to get screwed at the airport, so I came here the weekend before my trip. TCE is located inside of Memorial City Mall, and it's located right near Macy's if that's any assistance. The Mall is so big that it will take you quite a hike to get to TCE if you park on the wrong side of the Mall, so be warned. The sales clerks were polite to a fault. They explained the commission structure ($5 fee, but you get half off if you mention that you saw it on Yelp), and the exchange rates were comparable to the floating rates you see on XE.com if you have the app. NOTE: If you are a frequent traveler to other countries, get the XE.com app. It's free and you can see if any foreign or domestic bank is trying to screw you on the exchange rates. But I digress. I was able to get both the PRC Yuan and HK Dollars at a VERY good rate, and when I came back I was able to exchange them back to US Dollars at another very good rate. Also, be warned - if you have any foreign coins, they won't take them. I always leave the coins behind at my departure airport as tips. Just FYI. Anyway, you can bet your bottom dollar (pun intended) that I'll be making frequent use of TCE this summer as I travel to Mexico and Europe. Bon voyage! ;-) read more

Exchanging money is not exactly an easy and transparent shopping experience, as it's hard to compare fees at times, but I was pretty happy here. I got 500 reais for whatever the published rate was plus $5. I already forgot the rate, as I am too busy trying to get everything else for my trip. Which is why I appreciated the speedy service and ideal location here at the mall. The price was not bad, especially considering the ease of visiting a kiosk in the mall instead of a bank, currency exchange service, kiosk at the airport, etc. Odds are you will be here shopping for stuff before your trip, might as well exchange cash here at the same time. They also gave me a coupon for a reduced fee the next time I visit, which is greatly appreciated. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because the lady at the counter wasn't the best with communication and customer service. Not a big deal, especially when you consider how many people ask for general mall information at this kiosk, especially during the holidays. It would be hard to remain perky and cheery, I admit.
