They took my $100 deposit and I did not get my tattoo. The day I was suppose to get it , I was told at the time in store that artist has gone for Covid testing with no further update from store or the artist. I was in town for next few days before going away for few months . Now I am back so I contacted artist and store at multiple occasions but no response from either . Also, had a flash tat done on their Friday the 13th special, and got charged $40 extra for body location (on my hand), and the artist left out details that were on the pre-designed flash. I was defeated by the lack of inspiration these "artist" had. If you don't what a stock tattoo off the wall or come on with something to be traced don't bother to go here. I appreciate their adherence to CDC regulations as a Virologist. However, if you send a link and then immediately holler to call someone in from a car how can you be upset when that potential patrons don't comply? I went to several tattoo shops in the area to kind of get a feel for the options and while every one I went in to was clean and professional, Texas Body Art's staff went above and beyond the others in being friendly and welcoming. I spoke to Justin on our first visit, who took the time to sit down and talk about what I wanted to do even though they were in the middle of a shift change. Some of the other people we spoke to at other tattoo studios were pushy about changing the idea I had and adding other elements that I really didn't want. I could tell Justin had experience and he wasn't pushy with his suggestions. He helped me choose a better color profile for the tattoo and suggested adding grass as a base to root the tattoo, but his suggestions came off as actual advice from a pro not as a sales person trying to alter my idea beyond recognition. I made an appointment for the following week and expected to spend several hours in the chair as one of my previous tattoos which was a lot less ink and detail took around 2 hours. Justin didn't use a stencil. He drew the tattoo right on my skin and asked me for my input at several stages. I made suggestions of how I would like it changed and he modified it for me. When the drawing was done to my satisfaction he started doing the actual tattoo and I anticipated a lot of pain due to the tattoo being on my ankle. I was surprised that it was no more painful then any of my other tattoos and it only took him a total of just over an hour to draw, modify and then do the actual tattoo. I love my new tattoo and I will go back to Justin and Texas Body Art for my future tattoos. read more

He gets to know me so that when we go over my designs/ideas he know what suggestions to make and what I'll like. He can do anything. He's not a ln artist who only does the style they like most. He does it all and does it well. The shop is clean and organized. They have quite a few chairs and host guest artists also. They have won a slew of awards in Houston for being as awesome as they are. (This is from pre-COVID) I contacted an artist on social media and we set up a consultation. However, when I showed up he seemed confused until an "oh yeah" moment. OK, no problem, people forget. We briefly talked about a tattoo. He gave me a quote and I put down my deposit. He said we'd figure out a date once the tattoo was designed. Despite reaching out every few weeks on social media for a couple of months, he ended up blowing me off and never replying. After being blown off, it's clear the artist isn't a good fit for me. I gave up and I'm out my deposit. It sucks because I've seen incredible work from all of the artists in the shop, but the communication sucks. They have you place a deposit to protect the artist from flaky customers, but there's nothing to protect the customer from a flaky artist. read more

Stopped in to have an "artist" draw up an idea that I wanted. They half listened to what I wanted and proceeded to tell me it wouldn't work and didn't even try to come up with any ideas that I could do to keep what I wanted. I asked if they could do writing in a certain font and he looked at me like I had 4 heads. Made me feel about 2 inches tall. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Guess if you don't have double sleeves and neck tattoos you're not welcome there. There's plenty of other artists in Houston. Just wanted to update to reply to the owners comment. Sir, I disagree, the artist does reflect your standards. From the looks of other reviews, I am not the first one this has happened to. It seems like your employees have a habit of not wanting to do certain pieces and I would gather it's because they aren't portfolio worthy. They were a short easy drive from The Woodlands and the art work there was out of sight. I had a consultation with artist Jake Lee who agreed to do the design i had found with some touches of his own. Let me just say when he was done I was blown away. It was everything and more than i had hoped for. They have an awesome staff who treated me well. No drama, no BS, no drug addled zombies with tattoo guns. Clean.
