But you can not beat the AMAZING views! The camp ground was very well maintained with men and women's bathrooms, which happen to be one of the cleanest and nicest bathrooms I've seen for a campground! I mean, they have flushing toilets, showers, QUAILTY toilet paper, sinks, hand soap, and paper towels! We had an amazing weekend biking, camping, grilling, swimming and paddle boarding. We didn't see as many campers as we thought we would, but did run into a few other who were very nice. We camped next to the lake and didn't have any issues with mosquitos or any other bugs, but beware, the ants are HUGE!!!! Since this is a ranch, there are cows roaming around and when there are cows, there are cow patties! So be mindful of that. They didn't seem to mind us riding past them. Also, be aware that there could be snakes as we saw a rattler. Only issue was we couldn't find a dump site so we took our trash back to town until we could find a dumpster. TIPS: -Bring a first aid kit just in case. -Bring EVERYTHING you plan on using, we rented a paddle board in Austin (See my review for ACK) -If you camp in a tent, bring METAL stakes, as the ground is really hard and covered with rocks. -Phone service for Tmo was non-existent, but Verizon had good reception. -Bring more than extra stuff to fix flats!

I was here for the famed (infamous?) Texas Eclipse Festival with 30,000-40,000 others. While the…read morefestival itself had some problems with organization that were completely unrelated to the ranch itself, I enjoyed my experience here quite a lot. There are some beautiful overlooks, a nice quarry lake for cooling off (although who knows how clean the water is, if livestock use it), and an overall great away-from-it-all vibe. I read that they use this ranch for mountain biking and I believe it. The hills are nothing to mess around with. Hiking will require quite a bit of up and down. Also, the dust was baaaaaaad. Come prepared with a mask or bandana if you are at all sensitive to dust. Other than that, it seems like a beautiful spot for recreating in the TX Hill Country.

Well, let us start with the good stuff:…read more 1. Very personable on the phones and in setting the reservations. 2. Very good prices. 3. It "appears" that they have very good equipment (more on "appears" later). 4. A family-owned shop run by Tammy and her husband and her son. The much appreciated stuff: 1. They were running EXTREMELY late. However, they did call and keep us informed. They offered a significantly delayed pick up that made up for the lost time. This was handled very professionally. The problematic stuff: As you will see below, they did not meet their obligations nor keep their word. As such, our family vacation was significantly hampered and we had to make arrangements that cost us about $1000 extra and lost us considerable time. LakeTime Boat Rentals seems to just be getting going and I hope they mature as a business. However, do you want to put your faith in a company that bails on you and leaves you high and dry? 1. The older male (Tammy's Husband?) became verbally combative in a discussion about damages to their equipment. He spent his first 15 minutes onsite telling us the horrors of damages to HIS JetSkis. Each time ending his particular story about how that damage was "not covered by insurance". Apparently (according to husband), the only thing covered by their recommended insurance was being run over by another boat from behind. 2. In speaking with Tammy during contracting, any damage is covered by the insurance - but of course the deductible applies. I opted for the insurance and took a $1000 deductible (meaning I pay out of pocket for any damages below that amount). Again, Tammy was both pleasant and professional. 3. On a couple of different occasions during drop off, Husband kept saying this or that was not covered. Towards the end, he said he was worried about our location on the lake and wake turbulence damaging his JetSkis. For the third time, he asked if I would take responsibility for some undefined tragedy that resulted from wind or waves or whatnot. I joked back to him that I had purchased the insurance so that would have to cover it. He responded that that kind of damage was not covered by insurance. He did not appreciate my joke and like the Soup Nazi told me "No JetSkis for you!" 4. Finally, in an attempt to get over this whole issue, I asked him what was his real concern and tried to offer solutions to his worry about his RENTAL equipment. On every occasion, he would interrupt and would raise his voice. I actually told him that I was NOT trying to fight with him, just to understand his position. In the end, I also became frustrated by his obstinance and promised this review ... a promise I am keeping. He in turn, promised to "handle" my review. So, they took their JetSkis and PaddleBoard equipment and left (taking some of our safety equipment by mistake - which they returned the next day). They left us high and dry (literally) adding grief to our vacation plans. I would strongly encourage using someone else until LakeTime Rentals gets more experience on how to deal with customers and run a business and keep their word. They get a 1-Star because I would, under no circumstances, risk a vacation on them again.

All gear was included in the rental. Rental period was 2 hours but was flexible(if you got lost/were a tad late coming back). Cost was pretty pricey and they make you get $15 insurance for each rental. The initial training was quick and if you haven't done this before, I'd suggest getting the hang of it in the parking lot. We all felt comfortable and went about our way. I'd say the map was helpful but the signs along the trails were only there at the beginning and end of each trail. I let my father in law direct us and we definitely got stuck in a few places we shouldn't have been. But no injuries! You really have to know where to turn or else you can end up on a very tricky trail. All in all it was fun, however, if you are anxious about your comfort level i would request having a guide so that you don't get lost/stuck on tricky trails. Well worth the cost id say! And there a cute few restaurants in marble falls Main Street area to grab lunch/dinner after ! Enjoy!

I really want to keep these trails to myself as they are close by and the 5-star reviews by others are spot on. There are a couple of parking options and the main one by the Cactus Rocks trailhead includes access to clean restrooms. You can do a real easy 2-mile walk, on a dirt road, up and back from the main parking lot to the sunset deck. Or you can utilize all 3 trails (there are loopbacks) and extend your hike to about 4 miles plus. We went off trail a few times and was treated to some nice views off the back end of the park. There are some beautiful vistas of the lake and hill country if you (surprise!) hike on the Vista Knoll trail. A local Boy Scout troop as built seating and platforms so you can take your selfies without risking falling into the ravines. There are some areas that are kind of steep with stone stairs that will get your heart rate up. The only wildlife we saw was a couple of birds and a dog on the trail whose owner apparently can't comprehend the No Dogs on Trails sign. We did go during the heat of the day so most of the critters were most likely bed down. We did notice areas where wild pigs had been. Pro tip: You can easily hike these trails with your tennies but be warned the trails are rocky in some sections so watch your step. We had a great time and will return.

I did a couple of stops while we were out there, Doeskin Ranch and Shin Oak Observation Deck. The main hike was Doeskin Ranch. There's a restroom right near the trailhead. It's not plumbed, just a chemical toilet, but it was clean, stocked with hand sanitizer, and being able to use the bathroom before starting the hike made the whole experience more relaxed. The hike itself was nice but very seasonal. I went in January, so the landscape was mostly golden-brown grass with limited greenery and not much tree cover. You're mostly enjoying bushes, rocks, and scattered trees rather than lush views. I'd really like to come back in late spring or late fall when things are greener and more alive. The trail is fairly rocky and there aren't many mile markers, although the trails seemed pretty easy to follow. After Doeskin Ranch, I stopped at the Shin Oak Observation Deck, which is very close by. There's a nice gazebo with a scenic outlook and a short, meditative gravel trail with three or four nature signs encouraging you to slow down and be present. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk through depending on your pace. I recommend starting toward the left and going counterclockwise so you encounter the signs head-on instead of from behind. Overall, both stops were enjoyable. They're not hikes I'd feel the urge to repeat soon, but they made for a fun day hike and I felt worth the drive.
