(For several weeks now, I thought it would be a little kiosk or ATM building or something. Boy, was I surprised.) You'll find both new faces and old at this branch. They remain extremely friendly and customer-service oriented. Maybe it's due to its being new, or maybe it was the time of weekday I visited, but I got right in to see a loan officer. As always, these folks treat you like old friends. I feel like they are truly out to protect my best financial interests, and keep me from making any major mistakes. My elderly mother had just gotten taken to the cleaners by an unscrupulous local auto dealer. ECU's loan officer helped us as much as possible with helpful advice on what to do next. It's a shame the state of Texas doesn't have Elder Abuse laws directed at shady auto dealers. Because they don't, it's important to find a bank or credit union with people you can trust. I trust ECU wholeheartedly, and love their new branch, which will be loads easier to get to than their main branch, south of Longview. Tip: Credit unions have expanded their list of people who are eligible for (free) membership. I encourage everyone who needs a friend in the financial sector to give 'em a try. Their rates consistently beat local bank rates, on both deposits and loans.

I was only 20 feet from them, and for whatever reason one of the tellers came and was trying to discipline them and told them they could not have a sucker!! Instead of providing solutions, I was met with "red tape" and outdated procedures that felt more like gatekeeping than banking. There was a significant lack of clear communication regarding requirements, leading to a "runaround" that wasted valuable time during my business transition. No one really seems to know what's what and what's going on in this institution. In an era where efficiency and digital integration are standard, this institution feels stuck in a "manual" mindset that is not conducive to growth or modern entrepreneurship. I have since moved my business and personal accounts to a different institution that actually values my time and understands the needs of a scaling professional. they also nickel and dime you on everything. Since I am moving out of their Service area, they waived the fee of closing my account within a month. Bottom line: If you are a business owner looking for a streamlined, supportive banking partner, look elsewhere. They are more focused on finding reasons why they "can't" help you than finding ways they can.

We've had good experiences with East Texas Professional Credit Union in the past -- great car loan…read morerates and friendly in-person service. Unfortunately, our recent experiences have been very disappointing. First, we were told we had to drive five hours to a branch in person to initiate a rollover. When we got there, we learned that wasn't true at all. All we needed to do was initiate it through our brokerage account directly. We weren't given that information up front, so the trip was a complete waste of time. Second, when we did proceed with the rollover check, it was mishandled. The check was sent without the account number, got rejected, and then was deposited into our regular account with a stop payment fee charged to us. It took more than two weeks and multiple inquiries to get that fee refunded. And when the refund finally came through, it wasn't even deposited into the correct account. Throughout this whole process, there was no communication, no explanation, and no apology. Finally, when we tried to make a principal-only payment on our vehicle loan, the service was just as poor. We were told it couldn't be done until the following week because of ACH, even though the funds were clearly available in our account. The representative promised to call us back multiple times but never followed through. We always had to chase her down, and every time we did, we were just given another excuse. Between being given misinformation, wasting time and travel, mishandling our money, refunding fees incorrectly, and failing to communicate, we've lost a lot of trust in this credit union. This whole experience has made us consider leaving ETPCU altogether. I hope they take accountability and improve, because this level of service is unacceptable.

Social Security confirmed that, because he was alive in October, the bank had no legal grounds to withhold or return that payment. However, Community Bank insisted that they had received a notification from the SSA--yet the SSA hadn't even been informed of his passing at that point. After considerable effort, we spoke with Ty Gibson, who provided no help and merely cited "bank policy" as the reason. Even our local Social Security office admitted they frequently see this exact issue with Community Bank. The same thing happened when my mother-in-law passed eight years ago, and eventually, they had to issue us a check after much back and forth. This situation raises serious concerns: 1) How did the bank find out before the SSA? 2) Why was the payment returned for a period when my father-in-law was still alive? 3) Why does Community Bank persist with this practice when they know it's wrong? In short: AVOID Community Bank. Their handling of sensitive matters is unprofessional and unacceptable.

This was after showing the teller my drivers license, after saying my social and account number, and after listing the names other members connected with the account. NONE of that information was even necessary considering I was adding funds to the account, not taking them away! I'm sick of Eastman's awful customer service and I will be taking my business elsewhere when I move out of state next year.
