On two trips to the Grand Canyon, I found this to be a great stop for snacks/local beer. Prices were reasonable and choices were really decent for a convenience store of this size in a location where everything is a bit pricey. Tasty findings on our most recent visit were: -Jalapeño Pringles -Wisconsin cheddar jalapeño cheese curds -Smoked turkey leg -6-pack of a Grand Canyon brewering company Prickly Pear beer -32 oz pineapple wheat beer All were delicious. We would certainly buy most items again and are glad that this shop exists in an area with limited options - especially on Christmas Day during COVID when many places were closed. Then you see the price. $6.00 a gallon as of 4/23/2026. That's not just high, that's borderline absurd. We took one look, did the math, and decided to chance it. Drove a bit further down the road and filled up for about $1.50 less per gallon. Same region, completely different reality. Inside doesn't improve things. If anything, it doubles down. A single bottle of water pushing $7, cases in the $20+ range. Everything felt aggressively marked up, like they're counting on you being too tired or too stuck to care. It's not convenience pricing. It's opportunistic. I walked up with a pack of gum just to grab something small, and even that turned into an experience. The woman at the register didn't say a word. No greeting, no eye contact that felt human, just a blank stare and a monotone voice. I asked her to repeat it because I genuinely didn't hear her, and instead of saying it again, she just tapped the screen like that was the end of the conversation. That was enough for me. I told her never mind and walked out. And here's the thing. The place gives off a vibe that this isn't a one-off bad moment. It feels baked into how they operate. People coming and going, most of them probably thinking the same thing but just pushing through because they have to. You expect a little markup in a tourist-heavy area. That's normal. Hats off to Jerrol at Texas Express Mart. Our Hertz Rental decided to die as we pulled into the parking lot. This guy helped us get through the battery dying. Fortunately Texaco Express Mart had a battery to fit an Infinity QX60. He changed out the battery and we resumed our vacation. Hertz was no help and had no service in the Grand Canyon area. Definitely overpriced gas. Was $2.99 and the next city over (70 miles away) was $2.13! I would just fill up enough to get you 70 miles. They have a solid selection of snacks and drinks. Even saw mini shot bottles behind the counter... Friendly staff, though pretty slow as they talk up conversations with the locals who come through Parking lot isn't ideal but doable. read more

I think this is the only gas station in town. The fuel is very expensive so if you're in a pinch you might have to grab a few gallons.

The gas sign says $2.89 for gas. I pull up and the electronic numbers and missing some parts so it appears the price is 2.59 per gallon. No problem, I would rather be safe than sorry and fill up. I go inside and buy two bottles of water at $4 each. I come back out and the gas has stopped at over $60. I double check and now one of the signs lights up to say $3.59. What a scam. read more

I found this place to be offensive in the price for gas. The sign posted said $2.89/gallon (I found out later, when I questioned the price I paid that that price was for DIESEL.) FILL UP YOUR TANK BEFORE YOU ENTER THE GRAND CANYON. Do NOT give these people the pleasure of stealing your hard earned money! The gas prices are outrageous! The thing about this gas station that annoyed me the most was a huge sign outside of their store saying "Get your water here - the grand canyon doesn't have water".... When I was at the grand canyon, they even have water stations that provide spring water. We only needed gas. It's typical that near a National Park and not having other places nearby, that you can jack your gas up over $1 from the big city. I think we paid $1.89/gal when we left Gilbert, AZ. At this location, it was $3.09/gal. Well, at least it wasn't like the 260% price hike that McDonald's had, which would have made gas nearly $5/gal. So, I guess the $3.09/ga isn't too bad then. The pumps are pretty old and rickety, but not as bad as some I saw in Idaho. We didn't need to go into the Food Mart, so I have no comment about that. This Texaco didn't have much competition for gas here, as I don't remember seeing another gas station in this small town. I think next time maybe we'll make sure we're completely filled up at Williams, which is about 50 or so miles south of this town. read more

This place truly lives up to the term, "Highway Robbery!" Just because this is the only gas station that is a stones throw away from the Grand Canyon South Rim entrance is no reason to jack up the price of gas 50+ cents compared to other stations along U.S. Highway 64. If you're not running on vapors, it's best to gas up to Valle or Williams where the prices are reasonable. read more

Adding to the chorus of negative reviews for Tusayan Texaco is this one. We entered the park from the east and existed to the south, Because there are so few services along Hwy 89 we didn't have quite enough in the tank to safely get to Williams so I decided to put a little in at the one and only gas station in Tusayan. Gas was pretty pricey. You have to pay inside first if you use cash. The mini-mart itself seemed nice had a good deal of food. They had the cheapest food in town, 2 for $2.00 for hotdogs which offsetted the price on gas compared to the other local restaurants. The morning staff was friendly also. read more

OK -- so DON'T come here to get gas. However, if you need any last minute items before your canyon hike this is a good place to stop. They have gallons of water, snacks, and all that good stuff. I came here for a few groceries and gas, the norm price of gas was $2.15 around town, came here and it's at $3.29 gallon (OUCH!) then checked out the grocery $6.99 for cheese $5.99 for peanut butter etc. A complete rip off. Did not purchase any grocery, But did gas as it was an emergency issue. But enough to get me by the next town to fill up. I hope they read this and make some changes for a better business. The people that work here are rude and not helpful at all! Stay away! My rental car broke down and I needed help to jump the battery so I stopped inside to ask the cashier if she could help. The lady working looked like a meth head and her teeth were rotting out of her mouth and she had the nerve to tell me she had jumper cables in her car but she wasn't willing to help me and then this customer in the store started laughing at me. It's not funny, it was freezing and snowing and I just needed help for 5 minutes of their time. I can't believe how rude people can be! Right outside the Grand Canyon, there is a Texaco Express Mini Mart gas station. My sisters and stopped to get gas here before we drove the long stretch of highway. When I first pulled up to pump #5, I was not able to use my credit/debit card at the pump. The screen stated "See attendant to pay inside." So I went inside and had a woman ask me if I wanted to fill up. When I said yes and handed her my card, she put it off to the side with a whole bunch of other receipts. Waiting for my card to be returned to me, she looked at me like I was dumb, and said that she would return it me after I was finish pumping the gas, since my account was "open." I went to my car to pump the gas and had told my sister what had happened. She and I both thought that was odd, and so she went inside to ask for my card back while I was finishing getting gas. When my sister went in and questioned a male worker named Jim Orre about holding credit/debit cards, he told her to "shut the f@#k up!". Immediately after her questioning him and asking his name, he again proceeded to cuss her out. When my sister expressed her concern of them possibly stealing my information, he stated "Maybe I did steal your information!". After a few other words between each other, we left. Once on the road, I began to google this specific gas station, and was shocked to what I had found. There are reviews that date back as far as 2010 on YELP and TRIPADVISOR. Someone stating the same thing happened to them with their brand new card, and then all of a sudden their account was drained, which was traced back to Canada. I believe that this place is holding cards to record the numbers, including the back 3-digit pin, and then selling the info. They can get away with this easily because majority of the clients are foreigners, who travel elsewhere, and cant trace it back directly to this place; and also are not aware that this is not normal policy in the US. My tank was low when we left Grand Canyon last week, and their gas was $3.899/gal., compared with around $3.20 in Seligman. I had just completed the long hike out, and wasn't thinking too clearly, so I filled up. A little way down the road, my daughter informed us that she had filled a water bottle in the ladies room, and the clerk charged her $0.25 for it.
