There's a woman who works at the front desk/answers the phone who is perhaps the rudest person I've ever spoken to. Zero manners. Annoyed, mocking, borderline berating. I called to see if they could pull up a medical release form that I had signed two years ago and transfer my records over to another office, and she insisted that I had never sent them a form. Basically yelling at me over the phone. Front desk staff are a critical component of any healthcare, as they're the first person you see and can set the tone for the rest of the appointment. I would never want someone like her to be in charge of issues like appointments, who to talk to about bills, etc. Absolutely horrendous experience. Plus each time I've come, I've had to wait upwards of at least half an hour to an hour before being seen.

They literally do not care, and I say this after speaking with several other women who report an…read moreexperience similar to my own. The male receptionist sincerely lacks even a modicum of knowledge involving GYN concerns, he doesn't how to triage problems, he is abrasive, rude, arrogant, disrespectful, angry, he lacks empathy, curiosity, kindness, or even concern. Literally every interaction I have had with him, whether in person or over the phone is distressing. I had my first unpleasant experience with him when I called the office to make my first appointment. I decided to stay with the practice because I thought Anna Keshishyan was fantastic, and I figured my interaction with him would be minimal. Now I understand that he is the gatekeeper of the practice, and one must attempt to get through him in order to get to a provider. There are certain types of support staff who do not belong in healthcare, especially because when a patient is calling a doctor's office, it is usually not because they are having an amazing day and are looking for a sound board for their exhilaration.

This office is not worth it if you are thinking that the location is convenient, they are accepting new patients and/or accept your insurance. Allow me to summarize my almost 3 hrs of aggravation for an appointment that never happened: because I have two specialists at Beth Israel (the hospital itself), it is much easier to have a BI-affiliated primary care doc. My PCP changed her practice and is no longer affiliated, so add in Covid issues of finding a doctor accepting new patients and my options were limited. Tufts (my insurer) confirmed for me that two doctors here were accepting new patients, so I called to make an appointment. I was on hold for 22 minutes before my conversation with a snippy and bored-sounding girl started. She told me I needed to fill out new patient paperwork BEFORE I could even make an appointment. She emailed this to me while I was on the phone with her, and I asked if I could make the appointment at that time and email the paperwork in 10 minutes? NO. I needed to fill it out, email it back and then call again to make an appointment. Does that make any sense to anyone?? Because BI has all records on their Patient Site, there was NOTHING that I added to these forms that could not be found in my electronic records. NOTHING. In the event I forgot to add a medication or some other detail about myself, the answer is on Patient Site. One of the many reasons for that system is that all doctors and their offices can access the info... well, almost all offices. I filled it out, called back 10 minutes later and waited on hold again. I was connected to a different snippy girl who said she didn't see my email; I told her I had sent it several minutes prior (because I had been on hold). She insisted she didn't see it, so I sent it again. She waited and again said she didn't see it, so I sent it a THIRD time.... and then she saw all three of them, and asked me why I had emailed it three times??? WTF honey? I made an appointment with Dr. Rai for two weeks from that day and was then bombarded with emails, automated phone calls and texts about my appointment. I was also informed that I needed to arrive 15 minutes early to confirm paperwork (more paperwork?), so I arrived at 9:30am for my 9:45 appointment. While waiting in line to check-in, I looked at my phone and noticed two missed calls (I had been driving for the last 15 minutes to get there); listened to my voicemail and learned that my appointment was cancelled BUT they had rescheduled me for that afternoon. Whatever happened to ASKING if the time they are rescheduling me to actually works for me AND how did they not know until 9:15 that the doctor wouldn't actually be there for my appt at 9:45??? Surely someone knew before 9:15. It was then my turn to check in (and ironically had received another text just then telling me to check-in online!) so I said I was there to check-in for my appointment I had only just learned was cancelled. I said I couldn't come that afternoon and rescheduled it according to MY schedule for the following week, and while driving home I fumed about how I had wasted time on a holiday (not to mention all of the time waiting on hold just to make this crappy appointment). I decided I would wait and cancel the appointment at the last minute, but when the automated calls and texts started I knew I needed to put an end to that and cancel right away. I called, waited on hold (no surprise there) and said I needed to cancel my appointment. The girl actually asked me WHY I needed to cancel, I said I just needed to cancel. She said she "needed to put a reason", and while I wanted to tell her that it was because the entire experience with that office was a freaking nightmare (and to read the reviews online) I simply said "it's a long story, but I am not coming". Save yourself the aggravation of this place and find another doctor or just go without, your blood pressure will thank you.

They will do everything in their power to keep you hooked on methadone so that your money keeps rolling in. I truly would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy. Their urine test and breathalyzers are constantly giving false positives. Methadone needs to be more accessible and not controlled by these people that consider themselves as being a part of the medical field. The next morning I received a voicemail which I believe was in Russian and I was unable to understand. I called the doctors office to ask if they had left the voicemail, wondering if there had been a change to my appointment. I proceeded to be yelled at continually and told that I never had an appointment (though that's obviously why they had left me a voicemail). When I calmly said 'please stop yelling at me', I was shouted back with 'I AM NOT YELLING AT YOU, I AM TELLING YOU' and told to 'come tomorrow at 11am'. I said I wasn't available tomorrow morning and that it was an emergency work-related injury that had to be seen. I was told 'THERE IS NO EMERGENCY HERE'. I again asked 'please stop yelling at me' and she said the other secretary may have made a mistake and it wasn't her fault, it was mine! I said that I understood it was a mistake, but it was definitely not my fault and asked to speak to someone else. She said noone else would speak to me. At no point was any responsibility taken for a simple mistake, and at no point was I treated like a human, never mind a client. I have never in my life been spoken to the way I was on the phone yesterday and have found a new PCP. Although my one visit to see a doctor here went well and I was happy with the service, I have never dealt with ruder or more condescending office staff.

There were things that were covered by my insurance, but because he was obviously trying to get extra money out of me and billed incorrectly, these things ended up not being covered. If he billed correctly, my insurance would have covered it rather than the bill going to me instead. For example, he charged me for 2 visits rather than one because he ran over -- I did not ask for him to go so slow. And then he linked my annual blood work to that random office visit, it ended up where my insurance wouldn't cover it. I gave them a benefit of a doubt, so I called them and they were extremely rude! I even had a Steward rep call them with me, and his staff said I was wrong and hung up on both of us. It took me over 6 months to get this resolved! However, it shouldn't have required that much effort to fix something on their end. And their behavior was completely unacceptable. I would stay away from this place. He's obviously up to some shady work.
