There are 18 port-potties, only 7 operational on my visit (12/27/22). There's an upscale strip mall with a pizza place which I suppose will let you use their restroom. The view from your car is the overhead interstate transition bridges and the line of potties... ugh. There's no shade or a place for dogs.

Key card gives you access, via elevator, to the 7th floor where all the rooms are located. Door open to what feels like an apartment building. No reception desk, find your room by name and not number. Key card swiped near a number keypad on the wall opens the door. Room has 2 main areas and a bathroom, all spacious and clean. TVs allow you to login to your preferred streaming service. Room was quiet despite downtown location. Most of the suites looked the same to us with views and square footage the main differences. Seems that the thermostat was throttled overnight, which is a criteria we use when evaluating hotels. No coffee machine in the room. Shower temperature control is a bit "too vintage" and water was basically cold or boiling. All in all a worthwhile experience but we'd try other boutique spots in Birmingham before returning.

Was waiting for server to pass by, but never saw him, he finally walked by and ask if I wanted refill. Nice that they do leave bottle of water on table. Seemed to be adequate staffing, place was only maybe 10% full. Felt wait staff could have been a little more connected with dinners due to smaller number of table occupied. Food was a little slow coming out, but worth the wait. Feel like everything must be cooked to order. I had the catfish tacos, wife had the shrimp poboy. Both were fresh, hot and delicious. Finished with piece of key lime pie. We really liked this place even with the slower customer service. We'll be going back. Brunch menu served till 3:00 on Sunday, not sure about other days. I haven't stayed at the hotels in the district since I'm a local, but maybe a staycation should be in my future. It's definitely a cool spot in the city. One recommendation I have would be for the restaurants to stay open later. While this doesn't necessarily affect me, I've heard attendees complain about how the businesses close fairly early and if you're leaving an event in the area, there's nothing to eat or do. I'm not sure what it would take to make this happen, but I think it's worth a try. Regardless, go visit Uptown!

The city has done a kid to create an area with lord of dining and entertainment options for those in Birmingham. With those amenities comes less parking, but I've found that arriving earlier, if possible, always helps with that aspect.
