They have another fridge which they sell fresh chicken/steak/burgers /chicken fillets/beef joints. They have a shelf with news papers/magazines/ comics/tv books.

Being a Simply Food store, it is much smaller than your typical Marks and Spencer department store and is the only branch remaining in Wigan now, following the closure of their town centre branch. Considering this is a small store, they did have a relatively good amount of stock, including fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy and meals, I did find the Frozen section to be rather poor, which wasn't down to the supply issues which is currently causing havoc on the UK supply chain, but simply down to having very little freezer space, which mainly consisted of desserts. The staff around the store were helpful, the lady that helped me was very apologetic when she couldn't find what I was looking for, but still tried her best to try and help me find the mini chicken kievs (Be sure to try them by the way, they're gluten-free and one of my favourite Marks and Spencer products!) Being a retail park location, there is parking directly outside. 4*

The facilities inside the store are good, and it even features a Pharmacy, Cafe as well as products or concessions from multiple brands including Accessorize, Decathlon, Timpson, Greggs and even a Post Office! The selection in terms of groceries was also pretty good, I did find the store a little hard to follow, struggling to find certain products at first. They seemed to stock most of the items you'd expect to find in an ASDA, I still prefer the product ranges available at Tesco and Sainsbury's, who I feel have a better selection of brands, but this store was pretty good for an ASDA. There is a large car park, however, do be careful if approaching as a pedestrian, one of the main crossings is on a sharp corner, which is poorly lit, meaning it is difficult to see if any cars are coming, as it is a blind spot, this would be dangerous in the middle of the day, which almost caused me to get run over, let alone in the dark nights - with winter coming, they need to sort it out as it's a safety hazard. 4*

I hate to say it, but this store lets Heron Foods down as a brand, I've visited numerous Heron…read moreFoods stores before in Warrington, Liverpool and Middleton, and found them to be much nicer, larger stores, and Middleton is even a town smaller than Wigan (Hard to believe I know), so if Heron Foods can do it right here why not in Wigan? Now, I'm not saying this is a horrible store for the locals but in a way it lets down the people of Wigan due to its' size and range. It is located in Wigan city center, near the Indoor and Outdoor markets, and the store in some ways is so small, you literally could have to queue to get around the store as due to baskets in the middle of the store, it can be a little narrow. The range is pretty poor, with my standard Heron Foods favorites such as Ten Acre crisps and Lipton Iced Teas were not stocked here, and the range was nowhere near as big and as much to chose from as the Middleton store, which doubles up as a mini-supermarket. This store is OK, but it is nothing more than that, I hope this store steps up its' game store, not just to compete with the rest of Wigan, but other Heron Foods branches too, this store is being unfairly left behind which lets down Heron Foods as a brand, and potential customers. Due to issues discussed above, I sadly don't feel it warrants anything over than 2 stars here.

They sell pizzas/ cooked meats/ tin stuff like soups/ peas ect,crisps,biscuits,chocolate and veggie food. Open 6 days a week so very handy.
