The selection was really poor. As you either have to pay for parking or spend £5 to get the parking ticket validated, I decided I would get a couple of bits, so to not have had a totally wasted journey. I went to the self checkout to pay and was told I was the wrong end, as I had a trolley. I went to the other end, which had a bit of a queue, even though there were tills available. When it was my turn I went to the till, only to be told I couldn't use it as I had a trolley and this till was for baskets. So basically there were tills available, but not for me to use. I approached the happy to help lady and pointed out how ridiculous this was. She was , as the tabard suggested, happy to help and told me just to use one of the tills which were free. What a palaver, just to buy 2 items, and how confusing that you can't use a till that's available, they'd rather have a queue and people waiting unneccarily.

I detest the Brookwood Sainsburys with a passion! It should be so good but fails on almost every…read morepoint apart from parking! The car park is large with a decent number of special spaces. There are always trolleys available although they are often wet from the rain as there is insufficient cover for them. The store operates a self scan system if that is your thing although often it doesn't work and the queues at the special tills are often longer than the regular tills. Fruit and veg never seems to last long from here even compared to the much cheaper offerings from Morrisons. Pricewise it compares to Waitrose but there's no comparison in quality! There is an ever-shrinking fresh meat section and it often looks poor. The butcher counter is also small and rarely has much on it to tempt. My biggest grip here though is that I can rarely do a complete shop here and it's not because I want odd items. I've lost count of the number of times they've been out of stock of basics such as fresh milk, eggs, bread or chicken breasts. The queues are always long in here although the staff are quite pleasant. Good for a late night chemist. There is a cafe and toilets, both reasonaly clean.

I feel I should get paid…read morelike a top PR the amount I have enthused for the new store... which was long overdue being modernised and this Summer saw Tesco Watford become the talk of the town and the nation, as it's the first to get the flash new overhaul and it made the news. Literally. The renovations were undertaken without closing the store and whilst I admit I did stop shopping here while they were being carried out, I returned, opening day, with a fist full of vouchers to entice me back. You now have to queue to get in the car park. But...it's worth it and they now have car park assistants who direct you to spaces (layout has changed in the car park and disabled bays are now near the main doors). Outside is the same except for the swanky new Giraffe restaurant we are lucky to have in Watford now... But that deserves its own review later! Inside. Customer services is in same place, bit small and under staffed for a super store perhaps. There's a new 'scan and shop' section which I still need to try but I see a lot if peeps are using it. Food to go area is fab. Think salad bar to help yourself, loads if sarnies to chose from and pre packed salad and sushi goodies. Also it's a good section to nip to if picnicking. Plus there's self serve tills for this section alone so it's super convenient. The new bakery. Wowsers. So middle class and rustic. I lurve. Wooden table a la farm house laden with baked goods and hearty loaves. Also a counter with lots of posh desserts (quite pricey) and cakes. It's quite hard to grasp this is now where all bread and cakes are though. But it's early days. The toilet is in this section. No sign though. Annoying. And only one in whole hench store which is disappointing. Harris and Hoole. Love the look. Great lattes. Will sample food am sure. Always busy and not keen on the buzzers they give you to wait for coffee. Bit ott. But there's a coffee cart directly outside store so I usually grab one there as less busy. Florence and Fred. Happy days. This section looks amazing. Trolleys are able to mooch the aisles and it really feels like a proper clothes store, better fixtures and layout/feel than Marks or Next. And stock is great, fab designs and cheap as chips. I always come away with something. Fitting rooms are spacious too. Rest of store super laid out. New pizza counter (still not a patch on Asda's counter pizzas though- listen up Mr Tesco!). Fruit and veg section is epic, so spacious and easier to navigate than before. Make up and health sections look great as does home wears. Proper department store vibes. Loving. Dangerous for my bank balance. Opticians and pharmacy both helpful and knowledgable. Tills are still bit queuey but lots of people are checking out the store so busier than usual I think. Defo worth a visit. You can spend a whole day in here which I guess is the point as it has a destination shopping feel now. They even do yoga and kids classes here. Massive thumbs up!!

I had to switch my groceries on to the next checkout, and the customer in front of me waiting also for service agreed with me that this is diabolical service. The next cashier was very nice, but then the manager came over again with the first cashier, stood in my way, breathing all over my food without a mask on, and responded snottily to me, telling me she did not need to wear a mask, Does she know what good customer service is? Does she have to be so rude? Remind me to shop elsewhere!

With a clear understanding of "never shop hungry", I made my first stop in the Morrison's Cafe,…read morewhere I let my stomach decide on the "Big Breakfast". So instead of not shopping hungry, I ended up shopping on a carbohydrate overload. Fried egg, fried bread, fried mushrooms, baked beans, hash browns and toast. That's not to say that it wasn't good for what it was, but I really should have just had the toast and coffee. There were plenty of other options and I saw a few people having their "Sunday roast" as it was just turning lunch time when I finished. After breakfast, I grabbed a trolley (no charge, but there is a £1 deposit) and hit the aisles. Much the same as Tesco and Asda, the produce section is large and the cheese/dairy sections are large. Good choices of all the usual products and brands. Hiding in the aisles is a decent selection of electronics, including flat screen TV's and computer accessories. I managed to finish the shop without going too far overboard. My non-scientific study suggests that Morrison's prices are slightly higher than their competitors, especially the personal care compared to Boots. The shopping experience was pleasant. The store workers seemed busy and friendly. Would I shop here again? Probably not. I'm a penny pincher and the Tesco is much closer to my home. I only visited today because I felt I needed to round out my survey of UK supermarkets.
