As a small branch, the selection is inevitably limited, and the prices are a bit higher than Morrison's down the road, for example. But it's decent for a quick shop, and they sell both fresh bread and a reasonable selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, groceries and frozen goods.

Not content with destroying businesses in town centres with their giant convenient one-stop out of town giant supermarkets, they're now apparently not content with that and are now vying to compete directly with small and medium shops on the high street itself. This new Sainbury's Local opened opposite my church in the last few months. The prices here are a little higher than in their superstore just down the road but it carries a good selection of goods as well as providing a cashpoint outside. The only negative is that checkout can be quite slow as quite often, only one person is manning the till. There are self-checkout machines available, which are usually faster. As a shop, it should garner 4 stars but I'm taking one off on principle. As a nation, I think we have to make a choice about whether we want our high streets to be completely dominated by the big companies. All our town centres are already to look like each other wherever you are in the country and this is only going to get worse if we don't vote our feet and the government doesn't legislate.

I go here when I want to do a really big shop because it is such a big Tesco that you can take your…read moretime and not be run over by busy office workers on their lunch breaks. It isn't a particularly glamorous branch and doesn't have much specialist food or anything in the "finest" range but when you're a broke student who cares. It is one of those shops that sells everything, clothes, dvds, food, you name it. It is cheap as chips too, and this is a branch of Tesco that has loads of own brand stock. It's great for the basics and lots of 'em.

We do not go often enough to remember the changes and it must have taken us twice as long as previously. We have to keep looking for staff who can tell us where things are and they cannot enjoy this continual distraction. The whole shopping process has been very tiring and we no longer enjoy visiting Waitrose as we used to. Please think twice before doing this to us again.

Meat tends to be packaged in portions for 2 or 4 and larger joints are harder to come by. The fresh meat and fish counters vary in terms of stock but all is good. The deli is excellent with a good choice. Waitrose entertains is available in store as is glass hire. Staff are vey friendly and offer good assistance. There is a self-scan facility which speeds up checkout. Waitrose are participating in a community scheme benefitting local charities at the moment which appeals. Battery and plastic bag recycling are available in store. The car park is well maintatined and trolleys and baskets are always available, dry and in good condition. Opening hours vary throughout the week with extended hours towards the weekend.

Think the store also has a chemist in it too which is handy for prescriptions whilst you are shopping. The shelves are well stacked most of the time and the floor is always clean. Good selection and availability of products . Staff are well presented and are friendly. They also seem to know where most products are if you cant find anything unlike quite a few supermarkets where they don't actually know where products are. Overall good store.

Asda is part of the Wal-Mart family and I've shopped at quite a few Wal-Mart's in the States. This…read moreparticular Asda is less of a Wal-Mart Supercenter and more like a Neighborhood Market. The focus here is almost entirely on food, with only one small section of kitchen tools and other stuff. I was tempted to pick up a small microwave for £30, but passed as there was no way I could carry it. I did manage to pick up a £4 USB optical mouse and a £3 USB cable (that cost £16 at PC World!). Great selection of stuff with most items available in at least two or three different brands, plus the Asda "Smart Choice" which is always good too. As I'm starting to notice in the UK, this store has the typical large selection of cheese and the meat section was very good. Lamb over here is so much cheaper than it is in the States. I had to ask for help to find the sugar, which was surprisingly not with the cooking and baking. Instead, it was in the alcohol aisle with the tea and coffee. When I asked Lisa for help (they're not employees here, or "associates" like in the US Wal-Mart, but rather "colleagues"), she brought me right to the section instead of pointing the way. Lots of tills ("registers" in American) were open so I didn't wait long at all. Debbie, who checked me out, was very friendly and helpful. We thought we got all the electronics tags but managed to miss one and the security colleague who responded to me setting off the alarm was pleasant about the situation and handled it with a smile. One tip: if you're planning on taking the bus here, it's not close. You'll have to walk at least 200 yards. And on Sunday, the service is few and far between. Overall, a very good shop. I got a ton of stuff for my £65. My fridge and pantry are heaving. Very good value.

Personally, we think that this is the best Tesco around Far…read morenicer than Holmbush or Big Durrington. Staff are more helpful, relaxed and appear much happier. The place is easy to get round, the car park is easily negotiated and the petrol filling station is well planned and managed. A pity the other two mentioned weren't thought as good. 11/09/12 Had a look in here in the way to my Saughtre's place. Still a the best Tesco store around. Readers should be aware that there is now a huge housing project in progress by the junction of Old Wickhurst Lane entry into Tesco. It has/will cause some major traffic difficulties..be prepared!

What an interesting supermarket. It's huge, two stories tall, and has about 40 cashiers. Yup, no…read morejoke, 40 cashiers. You don't see that in the US, and they even have self service! It's a pretty typical grocery store, but it's very large, so guess what? Selection is going to be huge. Also, some things were really cheap. 1 pound for a whole pie? No joke! There is so much here that's it pretty amazing to think about. If you're in the area and you want some food that won't break the bank, then this the spot for you!

REGARDING THE CRAWLEY STORE…read more.. Ok. I don't always believe in giving bad reviews unless really necessary.... but I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with this store. The customer services 9/10 is SHOCKING. To the point where I'm so angry thinking about it... I might actually write a letter to the big bosses. The cashiers do not engage with you 9/10... They hardly say hello, they race through scanning as if I'm taking up their time, they mumble the total... I had to LOOK at the screen because all I heard was 57. It was £10.57p. Just basically rudeness, unhelpful, and just no manners. They do not even say thank you! Or when they do, it's a mumble. I get more interaction and fun with the self service and that's saying something! I simply can't be dealing with that. It's a multimillion pound company, invest in better customer service and if you don't like your job that don't make it so obvious! I don't want to make best mates with the tesco staff everything I go in, but come on. Smile!!!! Acknowledge!!!!! The layout it extremely bad as well, you've got a aisle of fruit then veg, then fruit again, the veg. I don't know whether I'm coming or going. It's a joke.
