If you're a big fan of Farthings (which I am) it's a great place to pick up all kinds of treats that they serve in the restaurant. The cheeses are incredible and I subscribe to the theory that the stinkier the cheese the better. One good slab of Stilton had full control of my fridge for over a week. It's all really good quality local produce but also stocks speciality treats. Around Christmas time this place is absolutely buzzing, not just because people are stocking up on gingerbread, cold cuts and cheeseboard goodies but because they sell gifts. I got my mum some lovely tapas bowls and stuffed olives as a stocking filler last year and she absolutely loved it.

Farthings at Home is a great deli, but it is very, very pricey in my estimations. I bought some…read moremaple syrup in there recently and it cost just under £6.00. Now I know that the cost of maple syrup has gone up inordinately, and that the brand (an average one) is organic, but this is a little extreme! It's usual to pay over £4.00 for maple syrup in supermarkets, but you can find it cheaper at either Lidl or Aldi where I bought some for about £3.00, but I can't remember exactly which one... try 'em both! And. I think it was organic... but quite oddly, for a high cost food item, there is usually little to no difference in the pricing structure of organic and non-organ syrup. I still visit Fathings when I feel like a treat, and want to splash out. They do the best of everything, and so you'll never be disappointed with the quality. If I was on a high income I'd shop here all the time. They have an extensive stock range, and so you can pretty much avoid the supermarket when buying the ingredients for dinner.

I tend to buy basic unprocessed ingredients rather than prepared food so I was pleased to see good quality fish (in clear bags so you can see the contents not just a picture) meat and vegetables. I bought the smoked haddock (2 packs for £5) and they were much better quality than the expensive options from Tesco or Asda and were much nicer than the Lidl ones. Also bought a frozen pizza for our son and was very impressed by the quality it cost £1 and tasted and looked better than expensive ones we've purchased from other supermarkets. Son thought it was better than a Pizza Hut one :) I also bought a pack of 8 seafood sticks for 29p (hadn't had them for years and the price was irresistible) which weren't the nicest I'd ever tasted but once they had lemon juice on were perfectly okay and given the price one can't quibble have spent more before now on similar and had worse. The staff were considerate and polite and welcoming and I think it might have been the manager who noticed us leaving and said goodbye to us! Will be using them again and often. Great quality at pleasingly low prices can't argue with that.

Iceland Minted Lamb Chump Chops 300g Peterborough Delivery…read moreI bought 3 packs of these giving me 9 chops (if you can call them chops). each chop's maximum thickness was 1 cm on one side which I would've accepted. However, the other side of the same chop was less than a millimetre thick. It was a sliver(cut screw) and this wasn't just on one chop. It was an all 9 pieces. When I tried to cook them up, the one side was uncooked because it was thick, and the other side was burnt, because it was so thin. I contacted customer services 10 days ago I sent them the photos of the barcodes and the pictures of the chops and I still haven't got a refund for this and it all wound up in the bin. I've bought several shops with ICELAND but I think this is the worst I've ever had especially with regards to customer service getting back to me or refunding me. Not sure I'm going to be shopping with ICELAND because of this whole experience. Both Tesco and ASDA seem to do the same thing with much better quality and at least the chops are evenly cut. It was a really bad experience and I'm now £9 out of pocket

There's really not anything to go here for but I have seen one or two doing a full weeks shopping so maybe there is for some. Prices aren't all that different from any other. Store is small but here's hardly ever anyone in here so there's quite a lot of space to move around. Location is alright but it's not a particularly nice area so there's not that going for it either.
