Morrisons - Cafe, Morrison, Pemberton, Llanelli

    Morrisons

This is one of the best Morrisons I've been in as it's so huge (bigger than my local branch)…read more There's a great home section as well, for bedding, lamps, candles, china and other things. You can often find some great bargains and special offers (today, for instance, there were beautiful lined and unlined decorative and sturdy baskets for sale - sets of three for under £5!) The cafe is probably the best Morrisons cafe we've discovered (and we've tried a lot of them around the country). It was so spacious, clean and tidy, and the staff friendly and pleasant. As in all the stores, the meals are excellent quality, good value, and you get a lot for your money too.

You do have to have a £1 for use of a trolley here. The supermarket stocks a wide variety of foods and has an excellent selection of fresh products. It boasts a fish counter, salad bar, hot meats section, pastie shop as well as a bakery and butchers. I find Morrisons a refreshing change from shopping in Tesco Llanelli. The store is alot smaller, and quieter and generally has different items. The shelves are very well stocked and the store is always neat, tidy and clean. The only problem I find with the store is repeatedly having to que at the checkouts for service. On the whole though I would say this is an excellent store with some brilliant special offers

This means that the place where it is situated is quite a bad place to walk to as it is on a very busy roundabout and would take quite a lot of nerve to do so." Yes, it is on a busy roundabout, arguably the biggest in Haverfordwest. And yes I agree that it takes a lot of nerve to walk across the remarkably busy road to get there and is quite dangerous. Therefore I recommend taking the "subway" which is a little, well-lit walkway located in the furthest corner of the carpark (opposite corner to the other stores located on the site, Halfords and Currys) which runs underneath the roundabout and main road, and leads you quite safely to and from the town center, no car-dodging required. "The shop is open twenty four hours a day and seems to be fully stocked most of the time." No, it's not. It closes at either 8pm or 9pm Monday to Saturday (not 10pm on Saturday, like Tesco's) depending on the day. I'm not chasing opening times for you round the internet, dear reader, you can do that yourself :p The opening hours are true as of this date from 2 very reliable sources: My brother who works there, and my Mother who goes down there pretty much every night without fail at either 7.30pm or 8.30pm to buy obscene amounts of 9 pence reduced end of day chicken :P Apart from that, everything else rings true :p

    Sainsbury's

I wanted to make that clear, so some manager doesn't place any blame on them. The real reason this shop gets a 1 star is that I am sick and tired of the place. I've lived in the town for 30+ years. Sainsbury's is the only big store in town. I cannot drive, and because the other Food stores in town are small, I do 90% of my shop there. I am SICK of the lack of choice available. They only have the most basic foods available. The whole selection of Japanese, Chinese and Indian foodstuffs (beyond the vast selection of overpriced microwaved meals) and fit on one small shelf section. Only very basic fruit and veg. Basic meat. Basic everything. It feels like a store that's stuck in the 1950s. There's more of a selection of meat paste than of chillies or peppers. No joke, the local Londis (which is TINY) has more verity. And I wouldn't mind so much if the prices were good, but they're not. During a Cost of Living Crisis, you'd think they'd start stocking more Basics products, but they's mostly stocked the shelves with their "taste the difference" stuff that is usually a good 75% more expensive. For a brief moment, I thought that things were about to change. They started stocking a wider verity of products the other week, and it was a joy. Well, I guess that was a mistake, because only 3 days later, it was all gone. Maybe someone in charge would twig to the fact that because it all sold out in less than 2 days, they should order more. But no, because all the shelf labels are gone, and in their place are the same old things that I've gotten sick of. All of this, in a shop that feels so gloomy. The shop is fitted with a speaker system. I know this because of the occasional Ad they play at full blast, and because they do play music during Christmas. But the rest of the time, it is silent. It gives off the feeling that the management see their customers as nothing more than walking wallets. I am Sick and Tired of it. If you are coming to Tenby on holiday, might I suggest skipping Sainsbury's, and shop in Pembroke Dock? It is only 20 mins by car and you have a choice between Tesco Extra, Aldi, Lidl and Asda. If you are in town and need small stuff, there's a Tesco Express, the aforementioned Londis, a well stocked Post Office, and a Co-op. Just what ever you do, don't go to Sainsbury's.

It isn't the easiest place to find and if you are staying near North beach you might never know it was there. It has all the essentials and if you are self catering it is worth finding. It has a car park though I can't say I've ever used it so I don't know how easy it is to get to during the summer season when Tenby is packed with visitors. We've always walked in and out of Tenby or used the Park and Ride.
