I mean not all can Euro shake and always indulge in Michelin restaurants, right? In London, Tesco Metro, was my go-to for snacks, drinks, etcetera. Tesco Metro located all over London, and dates to 1919. The one on Dean St. was my stop while I stayed just up the road in Soho. In the end, the best part is that you're paying peasant prices and not inflated tourist prices. I mean the Medieval days of overpriced apples died with King Henry VIII, so it's safe to say you're getting your pence-worth at Tesco Metro! I loved the British shortbread fingers! Ta!

My first time there, so give me a break, hey I only wanted petrol (well chocolate too) and had been told it was 'right around the back'. Ok, I understnd that instruction. But it evaporates when, as a newcomer, you enter the entrance of the car park. Where the heck is the back? I'd missed the sign of course, so I tootled round and about, and saw a chap in a reflector jacket, I asked him the way. He made sense, was insructive and clear, until I got to the corner he told me about. Hmmm, what's the worst that could happen? I kept going and finally actually saw a sign, just as I clocked the petrol station. The staff were very friendly indeed, and amused at the quantity of chocolate I bought. Alas, I still need to sponge my skirt as most of it melted on my lap.

My problem is always (and wherever I am) not being able to find my car when I finish shopping! Not funny when it's a freezing winter's night and one is having a youthful incontinence moment!!!!! The selection of fresh fruit and veg, fish and meat (everything really) in Tescos is brilliant and it is very hard to drag me away from the chocolate aisle! I am a Cadburys Dairty Milkaholic and it has to be the largest possible bar available! I get severe withdrawal symptoms when I detox ocassionally due to the jeans waiste tightening feeling!!! When going through one of these periods I linger for many minutes at a time just looking at the chocolate on the shelf and willing myself not to put any in my trolley!!! A couple of weeks of this and the cravings disappear! I can spend hours in Tesco just looking, wishing to buy and thinking can I or can I not afford (clothes, books, shoes, bags, electrical goods, toys, games, kitchen ware, paint, DIY, the lot)! You name it Tesco has it! It's clean and staff are helpful plus usually share a joke with you, which always makes a day feel even better! I also have 2 lovely large cloth green bags but unfortunately I keep leaving them at home or, when I put them in the boot of my car I forget to take them out before going into the store! Is this an age things I wonder! Probably more honest to say I've always been a bit of an eejit!!! I do love you Tesco! Thumbs up!

Crowded and busy, this urban located Tesco has nearly everything you'd find in a full-size store,…read morethough of course the fishmonger and bakers are limited. Reasonable produce and dairy sections, of course a little size-limited. A really decent location, not even a hop skip or jump from the busy Piccadilly Circus. This is where the locals shop and I was able to pop in and grab what I needed before hopping onto the Underground. Prices seemed to be right in line with the Tesco Extras out in the suburbs and I found the staff to be efficient.

I feel I should get paid…read morelike a top PR the amount I have enthused for the new store... which was long overdue being modernised and this Summer saw Tesco Watford become the talk of the town and the nation, as it's the first to get the flash new overhaul and it made the news. Literally. The renovations were undertaken without closing the store and whilst I admit I did stop shopping here while they were being carried out, I returned, opening day, with a fist full of vouchers to entice me back. You now have to queue to get in the car park. But...it's worth it and they now have car park assistants who direct you to spaces (layout has changed in the car park and disabled bays are now near the main doors). Outside is the same except for the swanky new Giraffe restaurant we are lucky to have in Watford now... But that deserves its own review later! Inside. Customer services is in same place, bit small and under staffed for a super store perhaps. There's a new 'scan and shop' section which I still need to try but I see a lot if peeps are using it. Food to go area is fab. Think salad bar to help yourself, loads if sarnies to chose from and pre packed salad and sushi goodies. Also it's a good section to nip to if picnicking. Plus there's self serve tills for this section alone so it's super convenient. The new bakery. Wowsers. So middle class and rustic. I lurve. Wooden table a la farm house laden with baked goods and hearty loaves. Also a counter with lots of posh desserts (quite pricey) and cakes. It's quite hard to grasp this is now where all bread and cakes are though. But it's early days. The toilet is in this section. No sign though. Annoying. And only one in whole hench store which is disappointing. Harris and Hoole. Love the look. Great lattes. Will sample food am sure. Always busy and not keen on the buzzers they give you to wait for coffee. Bit ott. But there's a coffee cart directly outside store so I usually grab one there as less busy. Florence and Fred. Happy days. This section looks amazing. Trolleys are able to mooch the aisles and it really feels like a proper clothes store, better fixtures and layout/feel than Marks or Next. And stock is great, fab designs and cheap as chips. I always come away with something. Fitting rooms are spacious too. Rest of store super laid out. New pizza counter (still not a patch on Asda's counter pizzas though- listen up Mr Tesco!). Fruit and veg section is epic, so spacious and easier to navigate than before. Make up and health sections look great as does home wears. Proper department store vibes. Loving. Dangerous for my bank balance. Opticians and pharmacy both helpful and knowledgable. Tills are still bit queuey but lots of people are checking out the store so busier than usual I think. Defo worth a visit. You can spend a whole day in here which I guess is the point as it has a destination shopping feel now. They even do yoga and kids classes here. Massive thumbs up!!

But today sadly Sainsburys has reduced the tills and installed self serve tills. I really dislike this and that is why I gave up with Asda. A very bad choice made. Sick. No, not you…read more... me. I'm sick like I haven't been sick in years. Worse yet, my body can't decide what kind of sick it wants to be. Stomach Flu? Tried that for a bit. Headaches? Check -- that was fun. Coughing? Sneezing? Sinus infection? Welcome to last week. Now we've moved into the fever-chills-achy-can't-piece-thoughts-together zone. Awesome. And while I'm still adjusting to the fact that grocery stores outside of the US expect people to only get sick during working hours AND don't stock many cold and flu items, I must say that I am ever so thankful that you stay open until 11pm. Every night. Even Sunday. (GASP!!) That means I can load up on my vitamin C, soup, crackers, herbal tea, and a few random antiseptics when I'm actually feeling the sickest. (Because perhaps I'm not the only person in the world who is sick after 6pm on Sundays. Just sayin'.)

Just dire…read more I know there's lots of competition from sandwich bars further along Upper Street, but there's actually very little immediately near this outlet, yet their sandwich and snack selection was the most meagre I've ever seen in a Sainsbury's Local, or any similar corner shop version of a main line supermarket. Veggies were restricted to a choice of two sandwiches, no veggie pasties, and they had no flapjacks or similar cakes unless you wanted to a buy a box. A friendly chap at the checkout was the only compensation. The fact the shop was empty at lunchtime in a central London location probably says it all - I was the only customer.
