The main disadvantage with the Hythe store is its proximity to the University of Essex. At weekends, the supermarket is overrun by students stocking up on cheap booze and crisps, meaning the store is extremely busy and a nightmare to shop in. Also, Tesco Hythe does not have quite the same range of non-food goods as its bigger brother up the road. In all, good but not perfect.

They really do go out of their way to try and help or resolve any type of question or issue you might be struggling with. There is a busy petrol station as well as the superstore. The fruit and vegetable department is very big with nice fresh produce. At the back are the deli, chickens etc. There is a nice customer cafe again this can get very busy and you will wait for a long time for your food also this seems to shut very earlier compared to the main shop. There is a pharmacy in the store and also a dry cleaners and key cutting shop and Sainsburys range of clothes.

Although you may have to pay more for food at Sainsbury's, it is most definitely worth it. Also, staff and customers appear to be much friendlier, although finding a parking space at peak times can be a struggle. Products are, in my opinion, of a better quality than other supermarkets and, although this is reflected in the price, if you can afford it it is very much worth it. In all, my personal favourite supermarket and ideal as a middle-of-the-road store.

They have a hot deli counter selling fresh cooked chickens and hot meat and pies and also a deli counter selling cooked meets and cheese. They have a big range of beer wines and spirits. The staff are chatty and will help if you ask them for help, but don't expect them to find anything that isn't on the shelf (I think they keep a very limited stock). Not the cheapest place to shop but for a few bits its ideal.

As mentioned by previous reviewers, a fun feature of the store is the travelators, which allow you take a trolley up to the clothing department. Even I, as mature as I clearly am, cannot resist the urge to walk the wrong way down these flat walkways, pretending to be Michael Jackson (before he went weird, of course!). The store itself offers most of the usual features, such as food, a bakery, fishmongers and entertainment. In all, a decent store with cheap prices on everyday goods.
