Using my sat nav just to try find a grocery shop and I passed budgens and as I was trying to find a safe place to turn around I happen to find Tesco which to my delight had a big car park which was sign posted very well! So I got a great spot next to the entrance and at first grabbed a basket as I knew this was a small store but just going down one aisle I then decided I needed a trolley as there was more items you can get through this store! I ended up doing my whole weekend shopping which was great for me as I didn't have to venture anywhere else and the queues for the till was very short and staff were very friendly!

Upstairs there is great selection of prepared foods, quick meals you can eat while you shop and a beauty and health section. The staff is generally pleasant and the store is kept pretty tidy.

On the shopping front, I try to buy a range of items but each time I go there the item is either not carried at all (but it is by their much smaller Camden store), or is out of stock. On the eating front, I've never been a great fan of Whole Foods' congealed hot section, which is as bad here as it is the world over. However, the cooked to order section here needs improving. I had the beef nachos here the other day and the beef had little flavour and the nachos themselves had a strong flavour of lemon washing up liquid. But the roast is good. Just a little improvement could make this place much better.

A few years back I used to think that Lidl was the downgraded version of its competitors until I…read moremoved house and ended living in an apartment on top of a Lidl. Coincidence or Karma? This Lidl is probably the smaller ones available however it has most of the things I need from fresh vegetables and fruits to frozen or chilled meats and other food items. Personally, I find the quality of Lidl products to be much better than its competitors such as Sainsbury's and Tescos. The fruits/vegetables are a lot more fresh at very affordable prices. I have moved away from spending over £60 a week on my weekly shopping to £15-30 for everything I need for that week. What changed? The store. I now shop at Lidl and I am darn proud to say I do! The only downfall is that there aren't lots to choose from with some items but that is expected for the smaller stores. Also, the lines tend to be very long and not many attendants available. They do however, have random sales of items such as brooms, blankets etc which make the shopping experience very interesting! Oh, did I mention that their pastry and bakery items are to die for? Freshly made, warm and very tasty! Yay to Lidl!

The store was clean and well organized. The shelves were stocked up nicely and like I said they have a good variety of items that they offer. I had limited exposure to the employees but the one I did talk to for a quick moment seemed pretty friendly and helpful. If I need anymore items on my trip I will definitely be popping back over to this store.

It was interesting visiting an English grocery store. First of all this particular store was…read moresmaller than the ones in the United States. Also, English grocery stores aren't laid out the same. For example cookies might be in multiple locations rather than one designated "cookie aisle." Also it was interesting because you had to pay for a shopping cart. They did have a limited number of hand baskets. If they ran out of hand baskets, people would use the bags they brought and add there items into the bags. Then remove them when they got to the counter. It was nice because there weren't long lines, and they had a lot more self-serve kiosks than my local American grocery store.

The family and I were vacationing in South Kensington and this store was ideally located. It's a grocery store that has all the essentials... and more. And by "more", I mean seemingly random stuff like an aisle of non-branded shirts... and a convenience station which apparently provides shoe repair? Item selection for things (particularly vegetables and fruits) seems a little sparse. But admittedly I'm a tourist so perhaps that's expected for the area, climate, and time of year. Checkout is slightly disorganized (again, probably a "tourist ignorance" thing). Recyclable bags are available for pickup on a rail while walking through self-checkout. There's an automated gate that requires a receipt barcode to be scanned before exit is permitted. Ultimately I think this is a store that's 90% grocery store and 10% variety store. Nothing wrong with that but it was just a little surprising.
