Somehow it still works though, maybe in London we're just used to crowds of people from using the tube and whatnot so you still manage to get in there and get what you need - and they do seem to have almost everything you'd find in a normal Sainsburys Local somehow neatly squashed in there. The bizarre effect it has though is that whenever I go to a different one they always feel so roomy and I feel like I'm in some kind of luxury paradise version with ample room to stroll around without bumping into people!

A few of them might try to set you up with their daughters. * McDonald's is 24/7 but makes me fat. Has no food drinks only children's sugary drinks. Doesn't stock essential conveniences such as toilet paper. * Eating things from Iceland really hurts my teeth. It's all really cold and hard. * If I eat food from Tesco it makes my bum sore every time. They also hire very sad people who get lonely so they try to stop you from leaving. The Sainburies isn't bad with none of the above problems but as express stores go it is crammed into a really small footprint. The range of food isn't bad considering the small footprint but it's not ideal and isn't going to stock an amazing range of items. The opening times are also not the best for me. Because the store is so crammed it's a bit gloomy and depressing. The checkout area has ultra compact machines that seem often broken and the security seems a bit overbearing because of the confined space as well as the crummy area they're in. I don't know what it's like at busy hours but I can't imagine it's pleasant. If a queue forms it will immediately start to cut into the shopping area creating a kind of shop while you queue dynamic.

Waitrose - Have not seen this flavor in U.S. yet.

The size of the place is a little small, but still enjoyed the very tasty and fresh raspberries and the kids got some small refrigerated flan desserts. We had some issues using US credit cards at the self-checkout but service was friendly and figured it out. Probably more convenient to use contactless method next time versus chip.

I prefer this store to many other branches of Waitrose, the store has a good feel to it, and it is in a useful location within a large shopping centre, meaning you can pick up essentials or even do a weekly shop while picking up the rest of your shopping across the mall. They have handheld scanners at the front of the store, meaning you can scan as you walk around the score, or use the QR code for mobile scanning. This is a handy feature more and more stores are offering now, but Waitrose seem to do it well, rather than playing hide and seek with the QR codes (I'm talking about you Sainsbury's) or forgetting about a mobile app altogether (I'm talking about you Tesco) Obviously, the prices are slightly higher than other supermarkets as Waitrose is a more premium brand, but they do have some products where the pricing is reasonable/competitive, the free-from range could be much better, which is the main reason I prefer Marks and Spencer at the other end of the mall. The staff are friendly enough, as typical of John Lewis Partnership stores. 4* - A very good supermarket and a great, unique addition to Westfield Stratford City.
